David Mason is an English musician, singer, songwriter, and guitarist from Worcester, who first found fame with the rock band Traffic. In his long career, Mason has played and recorded with many of the era's most notable musicians including Jimi Hendrix, Michael Jackson, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, George Harrison and Mama Cass Elliot. Mason's best known song is "Feelin' Alright" recorded by Traffic in 1968 and covered by dozens of artists, including Joe Cocker, who had a major hit with the song in 1969. For Traffic, he also wrote "Hole in My Shoe" a kind of psychedelic satire that became a classic in its own right. "We Just Disagree" Mason's 1977 solo hit written by Jim Krueger, has become a staple of Oldies and Adult Contemporary radio playlists.

Fantastic show and a pleasant surprise with opening act! Dave and band put on an outstanding performance. The venue and sound quality was excellent......and beer was cold!
Dave took the audience through his life and the people he has met along the way. He still has his voice and can play the guitar like nothing else!! It was an honor to hear him play! It was amazing. History that everyone should know!
Dave and his band put on a great show. Lots of memories from the past.
After all these years,Dave Mason can still bring the goods.Songs from his years with Traffic, songs he wrote for others and even ''All Along The Watchtower. What a great show !!!!
Dave and his band started off with songs from Alone Togetner, he played a 12 string acoustic electric. Sounded wonderful, and all songs you would know. Picked up the strat and really went to town. The entire evening was a walk down memories of Traffic, Delaney and Bonnie, Joe Cocker (written by Dave), George Harrison, and Dave's solo work. Loved every minute. Had a brief electrical outage due to a thunderstorm...we were on the Ocean City Music Pier over the ocean, but it lasted less than 10 minutes. Happened right in the middle of a song!
Dave's band comes out dressed like a bunch of 60's hippies. Dave comes out looking like one of my old uncles in his polyester pants and non-descript shirt and you wonder, is this still Dave? And it is and much more! Couldn't ask for a better set than the great songs of Alone Together with a little traffic in there to keep us moving. Great man, great guitar, great show. His band is very good.
Must begin by saying I've been seeing Mason for 5 decades now. Beginning at the Fillmore East with Traffic and then solo. Since then countless times and even once with Joe Cocker. He was freakin' awesome. Sound at times was a bit muddy but that's on the Broward Center not Dave Mason. Bottom line is he's a treasure from days past and now continues with talents that haven't diminished. Voice is unchanged and guitar better than ever. I mean he simply blew me away with leads I'd never heard before. Not to be missed, ever.
I have enjoyed Dave Mason for a very long time, so I was really looking forward to seeing him perform again. I didn't expect to be blown away by his 4 piece band, each one spectacular musicians. Dave is as good as ever. The acoustics at the Amaturo Theater at Broward Center are phenomenal. Incredible music completely filled the room all night. I'd do it again should the opportunity present itself.
First, the opening act of Marti Jones and Don Dixon was very enjoyable. A nice surprise. I think the best way to describe the concert is that Dave's guitar was magic, voice not as much. I think as singers age, they tend to lose range, but Dave lost deepness in his sound-BUT not enough to be disappointed in an excellent show.
Excellent show!! Great set list. Came out after show to sign stuff.
It was an event to remember and how great it was to see a music legend like Dave Mason! He sounds as good as ever!
We found Dave to be ok, but the vocals were not strong. For us this was a big distraction. Low Spark of High Healed Boys was so reworked it was barely recognizable. His guitar playing was great though and the band was loud. Unfortunately we found the whole show a bit monotonous and left a bit early. We may be outliers on this the audience seemed to enjoy it.
Dave Mason can play the guitar! Great concert, and there were a few places he took us I had never been before. Loved what he did with HH Boys. I enjoyed some of his references to the past but he never dwelled on them for long. I would love to see him do an album of covers from the blues and rock past. Maybe he has, I am going to look at his catalog now!
It started out a little slow. Dave was playing new stuff, excellent material, but unfamiliar. And mostly on his 12 string acoustic. But when he strapped on his Strat. Wow! His playing was amazing and his voice was strong. He told great stories in between songs. I'm sure partly to get a breather (He's 70!) but to most of us it was fun, funny and informative! Then he's tear into a song. When soloing you might think "he's losing it.." then you realize no he's playing from the heart and he is putting on a F'n clinic! Good stuff!!!!
Dave Mason has always been a favorite of mine. He is such a good guitar player as well as a songwriter with a great voice as well. One of my disappointments is that he didn't play more of just his songs that he recorded on his own albums under just his name. Love Traffic but he played too much of that and not his own songs. And he only played maybe an hour and a half. I mean c'mon Dave, I know you're 71 this year but ya gotta give us a little more in concert. Overall it was great to hear him again live..
Great combo of tunes from his first band to solo material!
Not too many people attended this show at Monroe Center. Their loss. Dave did a short, but great show. His voice sounds good and his guitar skills are amazing.
Even with an obvious head cold Dave brought his game.
Ive seen Dave Mason three time in 45 years each time he gets better. The show on the 7th of January was the best. If you closed your eyes you'd think it was 1971. His voice and guitar playing is still off the charts great. I hope he goes on forever and comes back to Phx again soon. At 70 years young the man is sensational. Fan For Life Mark T
