About

DAVE KOZ IN CONCERT:

When Dave Koz takes the stage, all is quiet as the audience intently listens to every pure note from the seasoned saxophonist. Playing both tenor and alto sax, his fingers glide across the instrument with an ease that can't be matched. Whether he's performing chart-topping hits like "Life In the Fast Lane" and "Put the Top Down" or launching into an epic solo, Koz's grace on the woodwind instrument is exceptional, full of trills, thrills, and spontaneity during his hit-filled set lists. Dave Koz returns to the stage in 2014 for his upcoming Summer Horns tour as well as a string of highly anticipated shows with Barry Manilow.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Starting out in his high school's jazz band, Dave Koz fell in love with the saxophone early on, deciding to pursue music full time after graduating from college. He landed on tour with Bobby Caldwell not long after and served as a studio musician in the '80s before launching his breakout solo career. Since then, Koz has released 15 studio albums — eight of which have reached the Top 10 of the Billboard Jazz chart — and four No. 1 jazz singles. Not only is the nine-time Grammy nominee a sensational saxophonist, but he's also a radio personality, television host, and philanthropist, serving as a Global Ambassador for the Starlight Children's Foundation. Koz will delight fans with his smooth jazz sounds on his upcoming tour dates.

The show was outstanding. It was sheer pleasure and a nice surprise to see both Dave and Brian playing together. Their music blended so well together and you could see and tell they were enjoying themselves and the moment. The band was amazing, too! Can't wait to see them together and soon --- It's one you don't want to miss!!!

  • Koz and Culbertson Killed!

    by MAY57 on 7/12/09Montalvo - SaratogaRating: 5 out of 5

What an amazing show! Non-stop music with intermittent comic brilliance. This is a performance that shouldn't be missed. The venue was outstanding (except for the massive amounts of ants crawling all over the seats in our row - yuck!) and the crowd incredible. What a dynamic duo. Their playful banter and musical genius drew us in and took us on the ride of our life! Go go go!

  • Fabulous Evening with Dave Koz

by Katz on 7/12/09Waikiki Shell - HonoluluRating: 5 out of 5

Dave Koz and the Honolulu Pops Orchestra, was a fabulous, a rich entertaining evening. I had high expectations because of the featured artist, but was totally blown away by all the preformances, and what a great venue to have it at, I want more of this!

  • Koz/Culbertson - what a duo!

by SmoothJazzLover on 7/12/09Montalvo - SaratogaRating: 5 out of 5

Each person in our party agreed that Dave Koz & Brian Culbertson was quite possibly the best concert we had ever attended. Tight band, very professional, completely enjoyable.

  • WAIKIKI SHELL & KOZ

by DREWOMITE on 7/12/09Waikiki Shell - HonoluluRating: 5 out of 5

This was a beautiful evening under the stars at the Waikiki Shell. Only complaint is that they now ban you from bringing in food and beverage. This meant dozens of people like me who brought coolers full of food and wine were forced to picnic on the lawn next to the entrance. There is no better place to see a concert than the Waikiki Shell. Outdoors overlooking swaying palm trees and Diamond Head. I prefer the lawn seats which allow you to spread out and totally relax. Dave's music and personality were excellent.

The best jazz show lately! Two of my favorites paired! They did a fantastic job of bringing their bands together, sharing the stage, coming together for several great pieces, and having their OWN good time, too! It's clear these two love each other...brought JOY to all the Smooth Jazz fans who've missed this venue. There are a few more chances to see them together in California ---GO! :)

I cannot remember seeing a show as good as this one. It was perfect! Well, I could have used another hour or so of their music. And Villa Montalvo was a perfect spot. What a beautiful place - it was my first time there. Dave and Brian were excellent together. I'd love to see them again!

He is absolutely sexy, in a fabulous way only his music and body movements come together like no other.

  • Concert of the Year!

by JazzyGigi on 7/11/09Montalvo - SaratogaRating: 5 out of 5

Their energy on stage, the chemistry between both Coz and Culbertson (as well as the rest of the band), the overall delivery of hit after hit with amazing precision, the interplay between instruments and the overall quality of the performance made this a truly unforgettable evening. Hands down our favorite concert in the area in the past years.

  • DAVE KOZ WAS GREAT

by rett on 7/11/09Sandia Casino Amphitheater - AlbuquerqueRating: 5 out of 5

MY GRANDSON (10 YRS.) WANTED TO SEE DAVE KOZ WHEN I INTRODUCED HIM TO SMOOTH JAZZ ABOUT 2 YRS.AGO. WHEN WE SAW THE BILLBOARD SHOWING DAVE KOZ , I TOLD HIM WE WOULD GO. FOR 3 MONTHS HE COUNTED EVERY DAY UNTIL THE FINAL DAY. HE COULD HARDLY CONTAIN HIMSELF. RICK (GRANDSON)CAN PICK UP A KEYBOARD AND JUST PLAY. WHEN DAVE CAME ON STAGE, RICK SAID I THINK I'M GOING TO FAINT! HE BROUGHT HIS CD'S AND WAS GOING TO BUY SOME MORE AND HAVE DAVE SIGN THEM. INSTEAD MR. KOZ DECIDED NOT TO STAY AFTER THE CONCERT. RICK WAS CRUSHED! I EXPLAINED THAT DAVE AND THE GROUP HAD TO ATTEND A FUNERAL OF A VERY DEAR FRIEND.

  • Dave Koz Concert

    by 1cal on 7/11/09Montalvo - SaratogaRating: 5 out of 5

Dave Koz is always the ultimate performer! And Brian Culberstson was a perfect match for this show. Both really seem to enjoy themselves, as well as the band. Plus Villa Montalvo is a beautiful and intimate theatre, with fabulous general admission seating! Only wished they served brownies to pair with our red wine! Can't wait until next summer's performance!!!....maybe on the lawn next year though.

  • Dave and Brian Wowed theCrowd

by RillaGrilla on 7/11/09Montalvo - SaratogaRating: 5 out of 5

Having seen Brian many times, I knew we were in for a great show...but this one topped them all. Brian and Dave are a perfect match and their chemistry takes things to another level. They are both amazingly talented musicians but neither one "took over" the show. It was nonstop energy.

  • Dave Koz and Brian Culbertson were AWESOME!

Both of these performers are extremely high energy and always put on a good show. Playing together was GREAT. They played for close to 2 hours. Tight backup band and they play well together. Recommended.

  • Koz & Culbertson are WOW!!!

by Tommilee on 7/11/09Montalvo - SaratogaRating: 5 out of 5

We have been going to see these guys in various venues for years, but last night was the best performance ever! They work so well together, have so much energy and their music is so compatible! It was energetic, danceable, enjoyable, etc. etc. Thanks so much for the opportunity. The Garden Theater is one of my favorite venues for live music. By the way, Dave Brubeck has been absent from the lineup much too long!
