About

DAVE KOZ IN CONCERT:

When Dave Koz takes the stage, all is quiet as the audience intently listens to every pure note from the seasoned saxophonist. Playing both tenor and alto sax, his fingers glide across the instrument with an ease that can't be matched. Whether he's performing chart-topping hits like "Life In the Fast Lane" and "Put the Top Down" or launching into an epic solo, Koz's grace on the woodwind instrument is exceptional, full of trills, thrills, and spontaneity during his hit-filled set lists. Dave Koz returns to the stage in 2014 for his upcoming Summer Horns tour as well as a string of highly anticipated shows with Barry Manilow.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Starting out in his high school's jazz band, Dave Koz fell in love with the saxophone early on, deciding to pursue music full time after graduating from college. He landed on tour with Bobby Caldwell not long after and served as a studio musician in the '80s before launching his breakout solo career. Since then, Koz has released 15 studio albums — eight of which have reached the Top 10 of the Billboard Jazz chart — and four No. 1 jazz singles. Not only is the nine-time Grammy nominee a sensational saxophonist, but he's also a radio personality, television host, and philanthropist, serving as a Global Ambassador for the Starlight Children's Foundation. Koz will delight fans with his smooth jazz sounds on his upcoming tour dates.

  • Dave Koz & Brian Culbertson was awesome!!!!

by Redbonegirl on 8/24/09Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

The concert last night was amazing. I enjoyed every bit of it. George Duke brought the funk in as he normally does. Tower of Power was awesome. This was my first time seeing them perform; they sung songs that I haven't heard in a long time. I enjoyed the James Brown performance. The lead singer was energetic and kept the audience engaged. Dave Koz, Brian Culbertson and Peabo Bryson was awesome. I wish the performance could have lasted longer.

  • Great Show

by TommyLB on 8/24/09Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 4 out of 5

Overall it was an great show - however 4 and a half hours is too long - a little too much of a good thing

  • This guy was amazing!

    by jro327 on 8/24/09Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 4 out of 5

I went to this concert as a treat for my husband, who is a real jazz fan. As for me, I could take it or leave it. Until this concert, that is. Dave Koz was great, which was to be expected of course. But then came this guy I had never heard of named Brian Culbertson. HE IS AMAZING!!! I am definitely a new fan of this jazz musician with the rockstar persona. He and Dave Koz together were definitely worth suffering through Tower of Power's headache inducing noise and Peabo Bryson singing "hits" from the 80s.

  • Dave Koz A Smooth Summer Night

by LALASS on 8/24/09Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 4 out of 5

This was a treat. I have been following Dave Koz and Brian Culbertson for about 12 years and enjoy them individually and together. Some of the other band members were also great. Peabo Bryson sang some of my particular favorites. Tower of Power was all of that. The others on the bill were okay but the concert became more and more of why I wanted to come as the evening went on. I was very glad I went.

  • Very Nice..

by CeciliaM on 8/24/09Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

What an amazing concert! Had a wonderful time would do it all over again. What talant! I am so happy I was able to experience this concert. Would recommend! I saw Tower of Power many years ago when I was in my early twenty's. Dave Koz has so much talent. Hollywood Bowl in the summer really sets the stage for memories that I will look back at for many years to come.

  • Dave Koz was sublime!

by Cazzer on 8/24/09Hollywood Bowl - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

Talk about getting your money's worth! 4 hours of non-stop, groovin' jazz! The whole line up rocked but Dave Koz was absolutely transcendent! What a musician! What a performer!

I completely enjoyed this concert!! Every performance was excellent - I could sit through it again. The only thing I'd change is that I'd have purchased a closer seat!!! This was my first time seeing all of these performers live and will not be my last! Excellent!!!

  • Dave Koz, Brian Culbertson, Peabo - Fantastic show

by afrismart on 8/18/09Atlantic City Hilton - Atlantic CityRating: 4 out of 5

This was one of the best shows I have attended. Dave Koz, Brian Culbertson and Peabo Bryson gave an exciting, non-stop show. They interacted with one another and the audience (actually coming off the stage and moving about the venue). Even when the headliners were not performing, the show continued on with the musicians having the chance to display their talents.

  • Dave Koz and Friends were Remarkable

by MCPuddin on 8/13/09Atlantic City Hilton - Atlantic CityRating: 5 out of 5

I just can't stop talking about the show. As my first jazz concert it was an experience of a lifetime. I drove from Washington, DC to make the show as a treat for my girlfriend on her birthday. Dav Koz and Brian Culbertson were awsome, the band was off the hook, I will never forget how well you all preformed together it was very exciting. Dav, Brian and Peabo I love you all. Thanks for a wonderful time.

  • Loved Koz and Colbertson

by JAZZFAN11010 on 8/12/09Atlantic City Hilton - Atlantic CityRating: 4 out of 5

The concert was amazing. All performers were entertaining and full of energy. They were obviously having a great time doing what they do. The music was better in person then on the radio. The venue was very disappointing though. We will not be returning to the Hilton. They crammed you so close together that it was difficult to relax and enjoy the show.

  • They were amazing!

by Tammela on 8/12/09Atlantic City Hilton - Atlantic CityRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first time seeing Dave Koz perform. He's awesome! Not only is he a great saxophonist, but he has mass stage appeal with his colleagues and his audience. I enjoyed watching him interact with Brian Culbertson and the other band members on the stage and their synchronized moves. I can't wait to see him and the other great smooth jazz artists perform on The Smooth Jazz Cruise in January 2010!

  • Koz and Friends was unbelievable

by lovethatmusic on 8/11/09Atlantic City Hilton - Atlantic CityRating: 5 out of 5

Excellent music, musicians and performance. This guy is a top shelf entertainer and it's reflected by the talent that tours with him. I have yet to go on one of his jazz cruises, but it's only a matter of time. If you like contemporary jazz music, Koz is a must see.

  • Koz & Culbertson excellent !

by StudHoss on 8/11/09Atlantic City Hilton - Atlantic CityRating: 4 out of 5

Dave Koz and Brian Culbertson were great. However, just when things would get rolling, Peabo would turn it into a snoozefest. Not that Peabo is not a good singer, it's just that he killed any momentum that the show had going with his song choices. Overall, very good. Only lasted two hours (considering there were three performers).
