Dave Chappelle Live Performance and Tour
Dave Chappelle, mastermind behind sketch comedy goldmine Chappelle's Show, made a triumphant return to stand-up comedy in 2013. While he's beloved for his famous impersonations of Rick James and Prince, Chappelle doesn't rely on old material for his stand-up act, treating fans to an all-original show featuring extensive improvisation as he interacts with audiences. At his 2013 performances on The Oddball Comedy & Curiosity Festival, which he co-headlined with Flight of the Conchords, Chappelle had fans rolling on the floor, building anticipation for his highly coveted 2014 tour dates.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT
Born David Khari Webber Chappelle in Washington, D.C., Dave Chappelle studied theatre arts in high school before moving to New York City to pursue standup comedy. Despite getting booed off stage at the Apollo Theater's infamous "Amateur Night," he remained resilient, going on to make a name for himself on the New York comedy circuit. Following several successful film appearances in the '90s, including a starring role in 1998 cult classic Half Baked, Chappelle debuted his namesake sketch comedy show on Comedy Central in 2003, finding both critical and commercial success. In 2006 he released Dave Chappelle's Block Party, a concert film set in Brooklyn featuring performances by Kanye West, The Roots, and a temporarily-reunited Fugees.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY
"Funniest live performance I've witnessed to date. You will be quoting Chappelle after the show. I was laughing so hard that it started to hurt. Great show from start to finish."
"Dave...he is a comedic genius and one of the best ever. He was amazing and I wished I could have gotten in line and gone to the second show!"
"He was hilarious. Talked about some of his history and was not afraid to get the audience involved. I had a great time."
Very small venue, every seat is a good seat. Dave is a great comedian.
Dave Chappelle was as masterful as ever layering comedy with real life issues. The show overall was very good with Dave and Donell Rawlings giving great performances. The Clipse also performed well but the other guests left much to be desired. Also, the entry process was a little cumbersome although I understand his mandate about no phones or recording devices.
My son and I saw the comedy show in DC on 10/10. Took over an hour and a half to park and get inside Capital One Arena but the comedians especially Dave was worth the wait!
Very fortunate to say I got to see Dave live, however, the acoustics were bad. My group and I were missing punchlines plus it also didn’t help that the Jumbotron close to us was not working. I even saw another audience member try to complain about the screen and acoustics to an employee at the arena and the employee was being dismissive. Also, any long time fan of Dave Chappelle knows there’s a no cell phone policy and phones need to be stored in a lock bag during a show. That was the case at this show but it held up the line entering and leaving. There just wasn’t enough crew members to help with that…especially when leaving. There was only 4 people there outside the venue with removing the bags. And this is a sold out show. It was a bottlenecked, logistical nightmare. ALSO, the show was supposed to start at 7:30 and Dave didn’t show up until 10:10. By then I was already tired and ready to go home.
Awesome and thought provoking show. A true professional and legend.
Saw Chappelle in DC on Oct 10, 2025 and he’s still without question the GOAT
We really enjoyed the show! Dave is a genius! This was one to remember for sure. He is a legend and deserves a standing ovation.
It started much later than the published time and included a lot of music. I was looking forward to the comedy.
Dave Chappelle didn't disappoint! From the time he stepped on the stage until the very end. His comedic talent is unmatched!
The comedians were good but the rap group seemed out of place and I did not enjoy them at all. If they are apart of the tour they should be the 1st opening act. Since this was a comedy show, they should not have come out in the middle of the show, it messed up the flow of laughter. Dave Chappelle is very knowledgeable and I enjoyed his story telling
