About

Dashboard Confessional on Tour

Expect robust crowd participation when seeing Dashboard Confessional, a band that sonically splits the difference between R.E.M.-like jangle-rock and moodier emo-pop. The group favors cathartic songwriting full of deep, meaningful lyrics, ensuring that beloved singles such as "Screaming Infidelities" and "Vindicated" draw loud audience sing-alongs.

Early in their career, Dashboard Confessional toured with like-minded peers Weezer and Brand New, while in 2007 they went on the Rock Band Live Tour with Panic! at the Disco. In recent years, Dashboard Confessional have toured with Third Eye Blind and, in 2020, launched a 20th anniversary tour celebrating their vast catalog.

Dashboard Confessional in Concert

Chris Carrabba initially started Dashboard Confessional as a solo acoustic project when he was still fronting another band, the Florida-based emo rock act Further Seems Forever. When the vocalist/guitarist/songwriter left that group to focus on his own music, he quickly issued the second Dashboard Confessional album, The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most, in 2001. That album went gold and contained the song "Screaming Infidelities," which became a Top 25 alternative radio chart hit and spawned a music video that won the MTV2 award at the MTV Video Music Awards.

From there, Dashboard Confessional was off and running. Album number three, 2003's gold-certified A Mark, a Mission, a Brand, a Scar, reached No. 2 on the Billboard Top 200 and spawned the hit "Hands Down." The song "Vindicated" featured prominently in the 2004 film Spider-Man 2 and reached No. 2 on the modern rock charts. Carrabba and crew continued on a hot streak with another gold album (2006's Dusk and Summer, which also topped the U.S. Top Rock Albums chart) and more studio work. Dashboard Confessional released the studio album Crooked Shadows in 2018 and celebrated their 20th anniversary by releasing a greatest hits album, The Best Ones of the Best Ones, in 2020.

    fantastic

    by moon781 on 12/15/09Trocadero - Philadelphia

Dashboard is amazing in concert! Carrabba is at his best when solo and acoustic. Dashboard is always a crowd show, and the philly crowd was great. Whenever Chris stepped away from the mike, you heard the whole audience. Though I would have liked to hear some new stuff (guess I will have to wait for the album tour), it is always great to hear Dashboard classics. I have seen Dashboard many times and this one goes up near the top.

    Amazing, as always

    by DME1 on 12/14/09Trocadero - Philadelphia

Loved the Acoustic set - He played a great mix of older and newer stuff too! As always, Chris performed from the heart and even rocked it on the piano for a song. This show reminded me what a big Dashboard fan I still am- their songs were always nostalgic and a flashback to my college years but I had forgotten just how great he is live. I came home and bought the 2 CDs of their's that I didn't own yet on iTunes just to complete my collection. Their shows are always such a unique experience with the singing the audience does - couldn't have been a better preformance from Chris!

So Great ... NFG & Dasboard are awesome!

    by Nicky2 on 12/14/09Trocadero - Philadelphia

I wasn't sure what to expect, especially with NFG doing an acoustic show. It was AWESOME!!! What a talented group of guys, I couldn't have enjoyed their performance more. Dashboard is always great, though an acoustic show isn't a far departure from what he usually does. The real highlight was NFG.

New Found Glory and Dashboard Confessional

    by Laurs1 on 12/14/09Trocadero - Philadelphia

Seeing NFG do an acoustic set was great. I thought that it would sound odd but they did a great job. They looked like they didnt know what to do with themselves though. DC acoustic was awesome as always. I have seen DC 7 times and two of those have been an acoustic set. He is amazing on any level.

    Dashboard was incredible!

by Rissm on 12/14/09Trocadero - Philadelphia

Seeing Dashboard acoustic was amazing! I've seen Dashboard full band before, but nothing compares to seeing them acoustic. Some of my favorite songs are the acoustic ones because they feel more intimate and that's exactly how the show felt. It wasn't a show that was going to make you sweat your face off or make you mosh to death, but that was just fine. It was nice to just be able to stand there and enjoy a great band without worrying about getting shoved from behind by someone. Now don't get me wrong, I love shows like that as well, but Dashboard is obviously not the type of place for that. Chris Carrabba's voice sounded exactly how it does on the record. His voice is so great. He played a ton of songs too and actually played a variety from every album which was nice. I was worried he was going to focus on just the new album, but he played the perfect mix from every album. Overall, the show was just amazing and I would recommend anyone who loves Dashboard to see them at least once acoustic.

    Dashboard/NewFound Glory show was amazing

    by AJF301 on 12/14/09Trocadero - Philadelphia

I am a huge NFG fan, and I have seen them in concert about 13 or 14 times. The opportunity to see them do an acoustic show was something I couldn't miss. They were absolutely amazing! I loved the show. DC was great as well! Chris' voice is even better live than on their CD's. Overall a truly unique and unforgettable show!

    DC + NFG = 1 great show!!!

    by Robbob13 on 12/14/09Trocadero - Philadelphia

Excellent setting for a show @ the Trocadero. NFG was good in a unique show - all acoustic and a great closer - the Chritmas Song! Dashboard, or Chris Carabba and a friend, killed it. Awesome mix of old and a few new songs and as usual the audience participation was unmatched!

    Dashboard was amazing

    by jennamichelle218 on 12/13/09Middle East - Cambridge

Chris Carrabba puts on an phenomenal show, always including the audience. Playing at a smaller venue, such as the Middle East, gave the fans a great opportunity to see Dashboard in an intimate setting, shouting out songs to play and interacting with the band. I have seen Dashboard in concert 8 times, and this was definitly the best experience so far.

    Dashboard Confessional (acoustic) = incredible

    by sportstergirl25 on 12/13/09Trocadero - Philadelphia

Dashboard Confessional and New Found Glory was incredible especially at this venue (The Trocadero). It was an intimate setting where the groups could hold conversation to the crowd and play along. I would highly recommend this event to anyone!

    Dashboard/NFG is awesome

    by LNP207 on 12/13/09Trocadero - Philadelphia

Despite my nervousness of an all acoustic show, this turned out to be really awesome. Felt like i was sitting around with friends all night just chilling. Very relaxed and vocals sounded great.

by Rekinha on 12/13/09Trocadero - Philadelphia

I don't even know what to say... I've waited years and years to see Dashboard live, cause they never went to Brazil, and WOW that was amazing! Totally worth the wait!!!

    So rad.

by TcupTina on 12/11/09Middle East - Cambridge

I may be biased because I've been listening to dashboard for at least a decade and Chris taught me to fall in love with music, but this show was incredible. I could've altered the set list a little bit. Not that the set list was bad, but I definitely could've used a little Living In Your Letters, As Lovers Go, Carve Your Heart Out Yourself, Saints and Sailors, Shirts and Gloves, Reason to Believe, well, I guess they played quite a bit of what I would've used for a set list. If they played Living In Your Letters the night would've been complete. But the Middle East was a great little Venue. I've been to a few crappy venues and this was better than expected. Small, but kind of cozy that way. Overall Analysis: Rad.

    Chris Carrabba is soooo awesome

    by cdd22 on 12/11/09Middle East - Cambridge

I've listened to his music for a long time, but this was my first time going to a show if his. It was really great; the intimacy of the Middle East was perfect (he was like 12 feet away). I can't imagine the experience being greater.
