About

Daryl Hall is a modern-day renaissance man, an inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the star of his very own award-winning web series, Live from Daryl's House, as well as a successful venue owner with "Daryl's House," a restored venue and live music space in Pawling, N.Y.

The Philadelphia soul man is still achieving career milestones more than four decades later, continuing to perform with his band to sold out venues everywhere.

It's been quite a decade for Hall, including the opening of "Daryl's House," a combination world-class restaurant and performance venue, which he kicked off on October 31, 2014.  The popular venue also serves as home base for his multi award-winning Live from Daryl's House.  The show, which began as a "light bulb" moment for Hall when he launched it in 2007 as a free webcast, has set the standard for artist-initiated projects. The groundbreaking series provides a mix of legends and the next generation of superstars.  "Live From Daryl's House" streams on Daryl Hall's YouTube channel.

Previous episodes of Live From Daryl's House have featured a diverse mix of veteran and new performers from rock, soul, country and R&B including rock legends Sammy Hagar, Joe Walsh, Cheap Trick, Tommy Shaw, Kenny Loggins, Todd Rundgren, Nick Lowe, Dave Stewart and Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top; soul and R&B artists The O'Jays, Aaron Neville, Aloe Blacc, Kandace Springs, Elle King, Wyclef Jean, Smokey Robinson, Cee Lo Green, Booker T & The MGs, and Sharon Jones; big-league singer/songwriters such as Ben Folds, Rob Thomas, Jason Mraz, Gavin DeGraw, Goo Goo Dolls' John Rzeznik and Fall Out Boy's Patrick Stump; country artists such as Shelby Lynne; and has helped break new acts like Fitz & The Tantrums, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, Neon Trees, Johnnyswim,  Parachute and Anderson East.  The latest episodes of the show feature Squeeze's Glenn Tilbrook, Blackberry Smoke's Charlie Starr, Andy Grammer, Lisa Loeb, Robert Fripp, and Howard Jones.

Daryl Hall has come a long way, and he's still got plenty of mileage left in a career that's taken him from the streets of Philadelphia to the halls of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland.  The best is yet to come. For more information, please go to www.darylhall.com

    Still in soul heavan

by nbflowers on 4/23/12Beacon Theatre - New York

Went primarily for Sharon Jones actually. But Daryl Hall's live band is great. Sharon was fun as always. But Allen Stone stole the night. Immediatley went home and bought a bunch of his music. Thanks Daryl for introducing him to us. And for great night of music.

LFDH Disappointing - Keep it on the Web!

by Monjan on 4/23/12Beacon Theatre - New York

Love Daryl Hall but he should just stick with Hall n Oates concert tours and leave LFDH on the web and tv. It just doesn't translate well on the open stage. Also, cooking segment should be left out of this since it was pretty much a fiasco having cooking shown on a screen and then offering coupons to the crowd after the show. Very tacky.

    Live from Daryl's House *****

by JLFC on 4/23/12Beacon Theatre - New York

I'm a huge Daryl Hall fan and also have been tuning into LFDH. His guests always do a tremendous job. This show was Great. Sharon Jones was amazing, her voice is unbelievably strong, and she brought an element of fun to the show A+++++. Alan Stone's vocal range was akin to Stevie Wonder and Jeffrey Gaines. Thank you Daryl for bringing such great talent with you. I first saw Daryl with John back in the 80's. The shows that I saw were outstanding. Daryl was the draw for me, and he did not disappoint.

    Daryl better on TV

by Awwww on 4/23/12Beacon Theatre - New York

Thought Daryl was great at Daryl's House on TV. When I saw he was performing at the Beacon, I ran with friends. The songs and music did not disappoint but the sound system wasn't tested well. Could only afford lower balcony, but seated in 1st row. When Daryl and guests stood a foot away from mic they were clear, close up at the mic ALL was unintelligible to us. Words to the songs seemed like Greek. Enjoyed this MUCH more on TV! Ugh, one other thing...from what I could gather, was the promotion of his friend's Philly Cheese Steak...in NY?...really? So intermission was not music to get into but a commercial on screen!

    Sharon Jones was just dynamite

This was a great concert. Daryll Hall was great, but Sharon Jones just blew the roof off. What a lady! Will go anytime for her.

    Eh....

by LuvNYC123 on 4/23/12Beacon Theatre - New York

My expectations were fairly high, having seeing Hall & Oates in the past at some AMAZING shows. There were a lot of problems with this show - from the cheesesteak informercial to the squeaking sound problems (not sure if it was their fault or the Beacon's). I thought they would play a few more well-known songs, even if they weren't by Hall & Oates. The show was just ok.

Sound problems ruined the the Daryl Hall show

by KoryLiss on 4/23/12Beacon Theatre - New York

One of the best concerts I have seen but between the constant buzz from the right side of the stage and the repeating squeal of feedback - the great show was just ok. What a shame - the performance (especially Sharon Jones) was exceptional.

    OK with a few distractions

by Juniper2012 on 4/23/12Beacon Theatre - New York

Enjoyed hearing Daryl and the band. The band members put on a good show however the sound mixing was not right and there were several times when feedback shot back at us. Sound was not distributed correctly for instruments or vocals. Sharon Jones has a great voice and we had to strain to hear her at times because the sound mixing/volume not right. Sharon Jones was awesome and stole the show. She has excellent stage presence and knows how to get the crowd going. Allen Stone has a good voice. Would have been nice to hear a few words from him. Most distracting though, even beyond the sound issues, was the guitar tuning guy. From our seats on the left we could see him moving all around the opposite side stage and he even planted himself on the stage to the right -- this was very distracting. I have only seen crew enter stage to handoff instruments, fix mics, etc. But not to go back and forth while tuning other guitars or just standing doing nothing. This was very distracting as was having the back room door open with people standing in there. When a show is on, it's the stage performers that should have the spotlight without any distractions. I think the time spent on the food clip could have been better spent on music. This aspect, while nice on the show, does not translate well to the theater. Perhaps this is especially true in NYC. Somewhat disappointed but still a good night out listening to good music. Nice effort from Daryl, band, Sharon & Allen. Thank you.

The performance itself was very good, and I would give that 4 stars in and of itself. The sound however was poorly mixed. Daryl's mic was a bit too loud and the horns were too muted. But most significantly, there was ear-jarring feedback throughout. I expect much better production for a show of this price...I'd live with this if tickets were $30 dollars, but when charged $62 for the balcony, I expect the sound to be done properly (and would expect feedback to not consistently occur). My only other complaint was the cooking segment video and subsequent cheese steak song. I appreciate that they were trying a different format, but it just didn't work. They lost a big chunk of audience here. Although they got most of the crowd back, it made for a disjointed show. The song in particular seemed a bit much for me, and made it feel like this was "a word from our sponsor" rather than an attempt at a different format to a traditional show. Again, maybe I'd be ok with this if the show weren't so expensive.

    Daryl is sooo cool!!

by Rockergirl79 on 4/23/12Beacon Theatre - New York

Great show, even if there wasn't enough Hall & Oates songs played. Sharon Jones kept things lively. A fun time was definitely had.

Live from Daryl's House was a short stay...

by NoFee on 4/23/12Beacon Theatre - New York

Good show, especially with the guest stars doing their own material. We could do without the food - advertising portion of the show (Tony Lucas Philly cheesesteaks...really!). Show was only two hours long, even with the food/intermission portion. We are used to seeing more music during concerts that we pay for. Felt like: "What's your hurry...here's your hat"

Show was great, despite audio problems

by KPSilver on 4/23/12Beacon Theatre - New York

The show was a great time, despite the awful problems with the audio and the terrible crowd. You could see that Daryl was annoyed when his mic repeatedly emitted loud feedback, but the band soldiered through it and put on a great show, even after one of the speakers started a non-stop buzzing that could be heard throughout the rest of the show. Sharon Jones was incredible, and Allen Stone has a great voice too. You could tell they all have a great time playing together. It's too bad there was so much trouble with the audio system, but it was even worse that people started leaving. I think a lot of people expected a Hall and Oates concert. I have to admit that the Tony Luke/Cheesesteak segment and song was a bit hokey.

    Fun Show

by peacenique1 on 4/23/12Beacon Theatre - New York

Great artists and a lot of fun. Sound engineers were not very good, Daryl's mic was much too loud and created feedback, there was also a loud hum from the keyboard set up...

SEE THIS SHOW IF YOU LOVE SHARON JONES

by BabylonSister on 4/23/12Beacon Theatre - New York

Definitely a disappointment. Hall without Oates isn't nearly as exciting, because the music itself is more middle of the road. When the band did some oldies, especially a fabulous rendition of "Everytime You Go Away," the house went wild. Otherwise, meh. And Allen Stone -- good singer, but boring. The real draw in this show was the extraordinary Sharon Jones. Daryl introduced her as a "force of nature," and he is right. She is something else. Not only a great singer but an amazing performer, a dynamo, on a par with James Brown and Aretha Franklin in terms of charisma and musical uniqueness. She deserves to be very very famous. Make sure you see her in concert whenever she's in your neck of the woods.

    Live from Daryl's House

    by Brenda927 on 4/20/12Orpheum Theatre - Minneapolis

Amazing, loved the show, the personal touch, sound was awesome, Allen Stone is unbelievable, as well as Sharon. Could have sat for another hour or two. Would have really liked a little more old "Hall & Oates", but so worth every penny. Still love Daryl

Everyone will want to go to Daryl's House!

    by Hostess1 on 4/20/12Auditorium Theatre - Chicago

I was a little upset after I purchased tickets to learn the venue had been moved from the Auditormium to the Vic Theater. The Vic is a more intimate setting. Even though I had purchased front row balcony tickets, the seating arrangements at the Vic would not allow us to be in the front row of their balcony. We were in middle rows. Because the Vic is so much smaller, the seats ended up being fine. Now on to the show. I enjoyed all the singers. Sharon Jones has a dynamic voice & personality. Alan Stone has a voice that will blow your socks off and well, Daryl Hall is just a great musician. The whole show was about allowing everyone a chance to showcase their talents. The sound was a little muffled at times, but it was a high energy event, mixing it up with a few old Hall & Oats numbers. I am a big Daryl Hall fan.

    a good evening of r&b

by ndconcerts on 4/20/12Orpheum Theatre - Minneapolis

WARNING TO HALL & OATES FANS: This is NOT a 'greatest hits' concert! I knew that going in, having been familiar with the format of the Live from Daryl's House webcast, which features Hall meeting, hanging out with, and ultimately performing with various figures of r&b, blues, rock, pop and so on. The show was such a success that he quite literally took it on the road. The stage setup had a facade of barn walls in the back; the only thing missing was hay all over the floor. Hall chose to take with him on this tour two excellent performers (and former guests on his webcast) Allen Stone and Sharon Jones. I had seen Jones before, with her magnificent backing band the Dap-Kings, last year in Fargo. I didn't know about Stone prior to this show, and he was excellent, a sort of cross between a younger Hall mixed with Lee Michaels and Adam Levine. The band came out after a video of Hall performing a stark cover of the Eurythmics' '80s hit "Here Comes the Rain Again", with that song's writer Dave Stewart on guitar. There was a warm-up played along to the opening credits of the show, then the screen disappeared and Hall strolled out, strapped on a guitar and ran through three songs before introducing Stone, and performing three of Stone's songs, then Jones came out and the entire band did three of hers. A major highlight was when Jones and Hall improvised their way through a seriously passionate take on Hall & Oates' 1977 song "Do What You Want, Be What You Are". Then there was sort of an intermission, while a film played featuring Hall, Jones and Stone showing how to make a quality cheesesteak (every webcast has a cooking segment). Then everyone returned to the stage for a run through a mixture of Hall & Oates, Sharon Jones and Allen Stone songs. The show was very energetic and entertaining, but I did notice some people complaining afterward that they expected a Hall & Oates 'greatest hits' show. The fact that John Oates was not on the bill should have given them a heads-up, plus it doesn't cost anything to do a little online research before investing in a ticket. For those of us who were there for an evening of great music, it was a rewarding evening.
