Hard working, talented performers but something was missing. Maybe it was the sound system; I'm not sure.

Dancing in the streets was tedious in the seats

by Ephraim on 4/9/16New Jersey Performing Arts Center - Newark

Although we love R&B and the cast was talented, the sound system was weak and the staging was bare and boring. Been to NJPAC twenty times and this was the worst show we ever saw there.

All I have to say is that this musical was medicine for the soul.It brought back a lot of memories for myself and best friend. We sang all 2 hrs long , it was just great .The singers were excellent, made you wish you were up on stage too.

    Fair

by abigail1943 on 4/9/16New Jersey Performing Arts Center - Newark

They played a lot of songs that neither myself or my son had ever heard. The second part of the concert had more hits then the first half. They audience did not yell and scream for more. We have seen Rain two different years and loved that and would see Rain a third time.

    Disappointing evening

by nana2lrja on 4/9/16New Jersey Performing Arts Center - Newark

We were really looking forward to Dancing in the Streets, but the performance was so disappointing. The performers kept trying to engage the audience, but the event fell short. There were strobe lights that flashed out directly at the audience from the stage and it was very annoying and distracting. The performers yelled their songs which did not make the songs enjoyable. Motown is great music, but this production was substandard.

Dancing in the streets was forgettable.

Simple. Would have been a good cruise ship show. Nothing special. Average voices with terrible choreography.

    Dancing was high energy

by CWGB24 on 4/9/16New Jersey Performing Arts Center - Newark

Dancing in the Street was very high energy with songs that are familiar. Choreography was different for every song and very well coordinated. It was a wonderful evening.

The show was great from the singing to the dancing. The outfits were great also. It really puts you in a groove from the beginning to the end. Loved it and would see it again thanks Motown for bringing me back in time.

    Dancing the Night Away!

    by Fran60 on 4/3/16Lynn Auditorium - Lynn

This musical revue is not getting the attention it deserves. It's great - a tight, fast action, keenly choreographed salute to the music of Motown and the 1960's. The voices were strong and pitch perfect. The costumes and wigs were dazzling. The back up band blended well with the action. When the music of Motown is done so well by vibrant young voices, it deserves more accolades and more credit to the musicianship of the performers. We had a ball.
