Dallas Mavericks History
The Mavericks joined the NBA as an expansion franchise in the 1980–81 season, becoming the league’s third team in Texas, joining the San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets. The Mavericks struggled in their inaugural season, but quickly improved with Mark Aguirre, who became the franchise's first All-Star and took the team to their first playoff series in the 1983–84 season. The Mavericks went on to qualify for the playoffs for four more consecutive seasons, culminating in a trip to the Western Conference Finals in 1987–88. They came within one win of the NBA Finals, losing to the Lakers in seven games.
Dallas struggled throughout the '90s, but a new era began when the Mavericks acquired Dirk Nowitzki in 1998. Ownership of the team was sold to Mark Cuban in January of 2000. Cuban immediately began to revitalize the franchise, building around a central trio of Nowitzki, point guard Steve Nash and wing Michael Finley. In Cuban's inaugural year owning the Mavericks, they made the playoffs for the first time in 11 years. This began a streak in which they qualified for the playoffs for 12 consecutive seasons. In the 2011 NBA Finals, they defeated the HEAT in six games to win the only championship in franchise history.
Nowitzki retired in 2019 and passed the torch to Luka Dončić, who led the Mavericks to four straight playoff berths, including the 2022 Western Conference Finals and 2024 NBA Finals.

Awesome time and one of the best games I've seen. Dirk is a machine!!!!
An absolutely great game! It was close from beginning to the end, with the biggest lead for either team 7 points or less Then, it was overtime and the Mavs won! Also the TRE train was a cheap and very convenient way to get to the game.
The game was awesome! I was not real thrilled with the hour later start, but once I got into the great action on the court, the time didn't matter. I even stayed until the end (with overtime!) . If I don't get to make it to another game this season, I'm glad this home game against the Spurs was the one I went to.
We enjoyed the whole evening...the view was great, the food good, people were friendly, the arena was clean. The only negative was the squished seating.
Mavs came from 16 back to win 17 up. Awesome win! BUT the PA guy was really lame... very depressing and his lack of energy was a downer.
I don't like roller coasters as much as I used to, but man...that game last night started and had my stomach upset. BUT, just at half time they showed a glimmer of hope and BAM...they were back. Mavs, gotta love them.
another crazy mavs game - down 17 in second qtr - then blow out the rox in the second half - probably what you will see until all the new mavs faces mesh together - still the potential is great
The seats were great and the game was great. Had a great time!
It was a super game, can't wait to go again. Not just because we won. The fans were just great in support of our team.
The game was very exciting! Kept us all on our feet! Down by 16, won by 16.....
I have been a Mavs season ticket holder for over 10 years, but last night was my first game this season. A great experience! The new scoreboard looks great, and the boys won as well. A portion of my ongoing satisfaction is due to the personnel we encounter year after year. I am in Section 222, and Mary, our "Aisle Matron"??, is an absolute delight. She has become like a member of our family, always asking about our children, my wife when she isn't with me, how things are going...There could not be a better ambassador than Mary. Jeffrey, takes care of the culinary side of our game experience, and having been through several throughout our tenure, he is on "top of his game", pardon the pun, but he is good at what he does. In summation, kuddos to the staff in general, but especially to those two individuals, the total experience, is one I am proud to send my clients to, and one I enjoy immensely as well.
Being a season ticket holder, I have had many experiences at a Mavs game, but to attend and sit in Platinum was a great experience.
The Mavericks looked like they were disinterested in playing the game but something must have been said to wake them up and then the Rockets were in trouble.
They started out a little slow and sloppy, for the first qtr. and got down about 17 pts. Then they turned on the light switch and got in to it...and ended up winning by around 17 as well. It shows they can turn it on when needed. Dont always like to see the come from behind which they seem to do too often, wish they would be the leader and not play catch up in a lot of games. We all know they can come from behind, but when the great teams play them, its not always successful... Be agressive from the start !! But great game....
After a very slow start, the Mavericks came back from a 17 point deficit and closed the first half down by 4. After halftime, they came out blazing and won by 18 points.
Great time, great seats and the Mavs are entertaining
Enjoyed watching Dirk and company have their first easy game of the season after so many tough games
attended the Dallas Mavericks game, it was a girls weekend. Awesome, had a great time, great seats, I cant think of anything that could have made it better!!!!
Had a Great Time, Had Great seats, And the Mavs gave us a Great Win!!
We got corner seats in the Platinum section for Mavs vs Raptors on a Saturday night. This was the closest we've ever gotten to seeing Dirk & Co. in action. View was great although we were in a corner, since we usually sit courtside. Ushers were courteous and helpful. Overall a wonderful Saturday night out for us.
