Dallas Mavericks History
The Mavericks joined the NBA as an expansion franchise in the 1980–81 season, becoming the league’s third team in Texas, joining the San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets. The Mavericks struggled in their inaugural season, but quickly improved with Mark Aguirre, who became the franchise's first All-Star and took the team to their first playoff series in the 1983–84 season. The Mavericks went on to qualify for the playoffs for four more consecutive seasons, culminating in a trip to the Western Conference Finals in 1987–88. They came within one win of the NBA Finals, losing to the Lakers in seven games.
Dallas struggled throughout the '90s, but a new era began when the Mavericks acquired Dirk Nowitzki in 1998. Ownership of the team was sold to Mark Cuban in January of 2000. Cuban immediately began to revitalize the franchise, building around a central trio of Nowitzki, point guard Steve Nash and wing Michael Finley. In Cuban's inaugural year owning the Mavericks, they made the playoffs for the first time in 11 years. This began a streak in which they qualified for the playoffs for 12 consecutive seasons. In the 2011 NBA Finals, they defeated the HEAT in six games to win the only championship in franchise history.
Nowitzki retired in 2019 and passed the torch to Luka Dončić, who led the Mavericks to four straight playoff berths, including the 2022 Western Conference Finals and 2024 NBA Finals.

American Airlines Center(Opens in new tab) (also known as "the AAC") has been the home of the Dallas Mavericks since it opened in 2001. The Mavs share the arena with the Dallas Stars of the NHL. American Airlines bought the naming rights to the arena in March of 1999, six months before construction of the facility broke ground.

Not kid friendly experience

Maybe they should setup tickets to allow a section that is more for kid friendly zone, where the behavior can have less profane yelling. I’m not talking about a few profane language here and there, I'm talking about grown adults yelling explicits with graphic details of where the refs can put it.

John is afraid of heights so we emptied pockets for his courtside seat. He loved that game he had a permanent smile and was signing Thanks to a sweet Mavericks rep ..(her name was Cody) who brought John a signed BB and gift bag. Was a once in a lifetime experience. His fears went poof as he enjoyed all the game of hoops. I was in tears of joy to see him happy. Pistons won but we didn't mind so much because , we moved to Dallas years ago from our home state of Michigan. Thank you for a bucket list memory for me, and a promise to John come true.

Bummer when superstars rest
