D.C. United dominated the early days of MLS. They appeared in the league’s first four championship games, winning three of them, and added a fourth title in 2004, all before the league was even a decade old. Between 1997 and 2007, the United earned four Supporters’ Shields for best regular season record and claimed three U.S. Open Cup trophies in 1996, 2008 and 2013.

The United’s alumni include a league-best four MVP recipients: Marco Etcheverry in 1998, Christian Gomez in 2006, Luciano Emilio in 2007 and Dwayne De Rosario in 2011. Emilio and Rosario became the first two of three D.C. Golden Boot recipients in 2007 and 2011, respectively, followed by Christian Benteke in 2024.

  • D.C. United vs. PSG was very disappointing.

by Ibra on 7/30/12RFK Stadium - WashingtonRating: 1 out of 5

The rain delay interrupted the rhythm of the game. Very poor play by both teams, not worth the money I spent.

  • Always a great time at DC United

by chewmeista on 7/30/12RFK Stadium - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

DC United games are always a fun time. Unfortunately there was a rain delay, but we got to see Ibrahimovic's first goal for PSG.

  • Awesome game!

by Smilingjim on 7/30/12RFK Stadium - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

This was a great game, we had awesome seats. We could see everything perfectly. The prices were very good for the location of our seats. There was very diverse, yet family-oriented crowd to see the game, and I look forward to seeing more DC United games!

Great match, excellent organization! Unfortunately there was a pretty heavy rain on minute 20ish of 1st half, so the stadium staff conducted everybody in the stadium to the concourse and let the people waiting until the dangerous lightnings were gone, updating people every other minute about the situation and once the sky cleared they called everybody back to the seats and all went great until the end. Very good experience!

  • GREAT GAME...PARKING A LITTLE DODGY

by meandaddy on 7/18/12RFK Stadium - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

The game was superb, 100 degree heat, rain, mud...what more could a soccer/futbol fan ask for? Once you got used to the food theme, there, it wasn't bad...texmex if you are in the mood, not inedible by any means. The parking was a bit what the Brits call "dodgy". Turns out you could park right in the venue lot, near the stadium, easy walk. I didn't know that. I tried to turn into two other lots, the first one a police lady told me to park in the next lot down. When I got to IT, the first entrance to IT was blocked off. But I saw a white car turning into the second entrance (really it turned out to be an exit). So I did the same...but when I got down there a DC cop turned on his lights, and yelled at me. Mind that this is the lot that the first cop told me to park in. I asked the second cop where I could park. He said, "get out of here", and pointed in the direction of 295 South. I said can I park down there, he shook his head yes. Turns out that just took me across the bridge into Maryland, nowhere near parking. Not only was the cop rude, but downright uninformative. POINT: If DC United are going to position cops in the parking lots (and I mean no disrespect to DC Police, in fact I appreciate the tough job they do)...then is DC United's job to school them a little on where people can park. Am I asking too much. DC United are a hoot, love their entertainments/abilities. But that has been 4 weeks and no home games since. Heck the Nationals play at home every other wk. So the guy from the United calls me , hounds me on the phone to sell season tix. I'm not driving to Columbus, OH anytime soon trust me. Minimal home games=minimal interest in season tix. Worst part of it is that game I did see all those weeks ago was great fun! I guess that really is the purpose of the review.

Great Game, even in the rain, lots of fans, good venue.

  • RVA all the way

    by 1Goal on 7/3/12RFK Stadium - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

My sons and I had a blast at the United vs Impact match. The match and fans were great and event staff were very polite and helpful. We traveled from Richmond and hope to return soon. United sales should offer family discounts to famalies of 4 or more. It would be a win win situation for everyone. Go United!!

  • United wins handily!

    by sam333 on 7/2/12RFK Stadium - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

I enjoyed the match, but I wish I had checked the 10-day forecast before I bought the ticket--It was beastly hot.

  • RFK Stadium is a dump

by Anonymous on 7/2/12RFK Stadium - WashingtonRating: 2 out of 5

The bathrooms were horrible. Sinks were not working and ones that did were filthy.

  • could have been better

    by Jenniferob27 on 6/18/12RFK Stadium - WashingtonRating: 3 out of 5

The soccer game itself was great. The field was nice also but in order to see the game you had to stand up the entire time due to people in the front row standing and I never once saw someone that works there come ask them to sit down. During halftime I attempted to use the restroom and was not able to get to the restroom due to a big group of people standing and dancing in the walkway and wouldn't move. I am taking my family to a nationals game in order for them to get a good experience watching professional sports.

  • by LDVT on 6/14/12RFK Stadium - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

This was our first live professional soccer game. My two daughters (11 and 15 yrs old) attended with us. The oldest daughter does not play but the younger daughter does play soccer: Nevertheless, they were both spell-bound, watching intently. We have taken them to baseball games a number of times (including when the RFK stadium was the venue) and they both remarked that they would MUCH rather come watch a soccer game again! We hope to do just that later this summer. Great experience!

  • Great Atmosphere!

by SouthernFrat on 6/14/12RFK Stadium - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

From the moment I got off the metro station, I was inundated by the overwhelming sense of team spirit from the DC United fans. Upon entering RFK Stadium the atmosphere only got better. Great food at the concession stands. The stadium is pretty old but that only adds to the allure of the event. The stands shake as the fans get riled up during the match. Its a definitely enjoyable event and I will be returning next time I'm in DC.

  • DC United - great staff, fun game!

by PBRNewbie on 6/13/12RFK Stadium - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

DC United is really making an effort to get fans in and excited about the team. I printed the wrong tickets - went to Will Call and they took care of it with no problem...game was great fun I plan to attend more games in the future!!!

  • by Anonymous on 6/13/12RFK Stadium - WashingtonRating: 3 out of 5

Stadium is a dump! Build a new stadium in Loudon county, VA.

Great game. Great atmosphere. Fantastic seats. I love going to DC United games. I'm ready for the next home game.

  • I love DC United

by Flemcat on 6/11/12RFK Stadium - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

This is the most biased review ever because DC United is my favorite sports team, but either way I had a great time at the game. Its was an absolute goal fest and since these tickets were bough for my brother for Christmas, needless to say he was highly satisfied. If I lived in DC I would be going to every single game.

  • Rain or shine, watching DC United is one of a kind

    by Jaybird22 on 5/3/12RFK Stadium - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

I had the pleasure of watching the DC United versus Houston Dynamo match with old friends and family. This event was the perfect way to catch up with everyone while enjoying a quality soccer game. The tickets were easy to purchase (props to Ticketmaster for their new ticket display that allows u to customize ur seat selection), food was good, and the atmosphere was amazing! Not even the rain could damper the mood. Only downside was the age of the RFK stadium facilities, i. e. parking lot, stadium itself, but u work with what u have available as a venue.

  • Great seats and atmosphere

by LoveDCsports on 5/3/12RFK Stadium - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

DC United games are a great way to spend time with family and friends. Even if you don't understand soccer, the crowd will entertain you and before you know it you are cheering right along with the pros.
