CUT COPY IN CONCERT:

Australian indietronica masters Cut Copy continue to bring the party to the people on their unforgettable tours. The band's live shows combine the real-time groove of a full band with mind-blowing lighting and visuals, making for a nonstop dance party at every concert. Whether they're playing originals like "Hearts on Fire" or covering fellow electro icons like the Presets, Cut Copy's imitable energy and showmanship never fail to leave fans feeling elated and euphoric.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Cut Copy began in Melbourne in 2001 as the solo project of Dan Whitford, a graphic design student with a budding interest in DJing and producing. Shortly after releasing his debut single "1981" Whitford added several members to the group, and In 2003 the new lineup performed their first show at Australia's Livid Festival. Their debut full-length Bright Like Neon Love dropped the following year, establishing them as a rising force in dance music and landing them on tour with big name acts like France Ferdinand and Bloc Party. Their upward momentum continued in 2008 with sophomore album In Ghost Colors, a disco-inspired collection of bangers that topped the Australian charts. Following the 2013 release of their fourth album Free Your Mind, Cut Copy delivered another stellar round of performances on the road, building anticipation among fans for their next tour dates.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Not only were they amazingly good but the overall feeling and vibe to this show was next to none. They definitely know how to rock the house. Never a dull moment."

"These guys put on an awesome show. A lot of energy and the performance was flawless. They also came out after their set was over and performed two songs as an encore."

Cut Copy did not perform for long enough for price

by Saoirsemaguire on 3/24/14Echostage - Washington

I liked the venue but would have been better if there were more people that had attended. Cu Copy went on at 9.15 and ended at a exactly 10.40!!!! Very disappointing length of time for as big as they are and tickets weren't the cheapest.

LOVE Cut/Copy, but NOT the venue!!!!

by Funnyshyte on 3/24/14Echostage - Washington

CUT/COPY IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! I've been a fan for several years and this was the second time I've seen them in DC. The venue, however, is less than desirable. The sound and general feeling was just ok. Please return to 9:30 Club or another more intimate venue.

A dance party with a great live band instead of a DJ. Cut/Copy does not disappoint!

    Play your instruments, people

by Ribos on 3/24/14Echostage - Washington

Cut Copy (or so I've heard) usually gives a really good live show, so this show was quite disappointing. That might have been the fact that it was the first show in the United States on their tour with new material, but still... it was not very good. 3/4 of the guys in the band acted super jetlagged, while the guitar player acted as though he'd had a shot of a 5 hour energy right before the show started. He was all manic, erratic energy until about halfway through the show, when he, too burned out. The worst part about the entire thing was that they played so much of the music off of a backing track. For probably 15 minutes total in the show, the band members weren't even pretending to play their instruments, they were all just standing at microphones shouting lyrics (with the exception of the drummer, who just lacklusterly hit on his hi hat, snare, and bass drum all night). When Ben Browning played his bass (for about 3 songs, the rest of the time he just stood there or fiddled with a keyboard), it had some resonant frequencies with the building and shook the place and was really loud on some notes. The singer's voice was a bit off because he said that the air from the plane ride over from Australia was not good for his pipes . Indeed We walked out early, during the very uninspired-sounding encore

Terminal 5 is one of the worst spaces for music. There are different levels to watch the shows, only the bottom floor has good sound.

    Cut Copy was unforgettable!!!

by waynejourneyman on 3/23/14Echostage - Washington

I really loved the show. Truly blown away. They lived up to my expectation and were a lot more fun to listen to live. This was my first cut copy concert.

Enjoyed, but there's room for improvement

    by electro979 on 3/23/14Echostage - Washington

Cut Copy played for maybe, oh, an hour and fifteen minutes. For that, I do not think the price of these tickets were worth it. The venue was full, but not packed. We still had a good time...for an hour or so, but really? Did Cut Copy not think to play more songs? I would expect more considering the price of the tickets. I could have hung at home and just listened to their music on full volume. In fact, I think I will do that next time, unless if they're playing somewhere more obscure.

    by Curt88 on 3/23/14Echostage - Washington

These guys put on an awesome show. A lot of energy and the performance was flawless. They also came out after their set was over and performed two songs as an encore. Highly recommend seeing them live. Jessy Lanza was one of the openers and she also had a great set.

Just as good live - better, even!

by slithers on 11/20/13House of Blues Boston - Boston

I've been in love with Cut Copy ever since I heard Zonoscope at a party. Pretty much all their songs are awesome. There was no disappointment seeing them live as each song was every bit as good, some were even better (their live version of Hearts on Fire was pretty significantly different, but super-excellent). Usually bands sound "rough" in person, compared to their polished albums, but the singer was just as good and so were the electronics. And the lights were great. My only complaint would be that the band made little effort to dress up, but due to the light show, that was not really noticeable.

Cut Copy - Free Your Mind Tour: Toronto

by Anonymous on 11/19/13The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

Cut Copy was worth the two year wait and the trek from Detroit on the night of the show. The show's production, including heavy strobe and neon lights, were a welcome spectacle. Cut Copy's performance was perfect and I couldn't help but dance the entire time!

Cut Copy was just as energetic as their music. I danced like I have never danced before. If you are thinking about going to one of their concerts, just do it!!

    Cut Copy fell flat

by Dolemiteoutasight on 11/5/13Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

No matter how much the die hard fans in the crowd wanted them to be good, they weren't. I saw more than a few fans who weren't "on" anything leave early. If you asked most people to be objective about the show, they would say it was "ehhhh".

great music, good show, but the light show is 150% blinding the audience at all times. Next time please bring strong sunglasses to watch the show...
