CUT COPY IN CONCERT:

Australian indietronica masters Cut Copy continue to bring the party to the people on their unforgettable tours. The band's live shows combine the real-time groove of a full band with mind-blowing lighting and visuals, making for a nonstop dance party at every concert. Whether they're playing originals like "Hearts on Fire" or covering fellow electro icons like the Presets, Cut Copy's imitable energy and showmanship never fail to leave fans feeling elated and euphoric.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Cut Copy began in Melbourne in 2001 as the solo project of Dan Whitford, a graphic design student with a budding interest in DJing and producing. Shortly after releasing his debut single "1981" Whitford added several members to the group, and In 2003 the new lineup performed their first show at Australia's Livid Festival. Their debut full-length Bright Like Neon Love dropped the following year, establishing them as a rising force in dance music and landing them on tour with big name acts like France Ferdinand and Bloc Party. Their upward momentum continued in 2008 with sophomore album In Ghost Colors, a disco-inspired collection of bangers that topped the Australian charts. Following the 2013 release of their fourth album Free Your Mind, Cut Copy delivered another stellar round of performances on the road, building anticipation among fans for their next tour dates.

    Not sure it was live

by BradinSeattle on 6/18/17Neptune Theatre - Seattle

I love Cut Copy and had wanted to see them for some time, but having seen many shows, it became apparent quickly that most of the music was recorded, and they were pretending to play it. I don't think many attendees noticed, or maybe didn't care, but it was obvious if you paid attention. The lighting, mostly from behind and strobes, helped to sell the illusion so you couldn't see their lips or they're fingers on instruments easily. It was a real shame, but I still love them.

    Just Fantastic

by epiDEMIc on 6/21/14The Ritz Ybor - Tampa

This was my first time seeing them and they were simply great. Their energy was fantastic and they kept the crowd moving. It felt like one big, loving dance party! The visuals were perfect and the sound spot on. Their openers Classixx were a match made in heaven as well.

Cut Copy was an amazing show!

by Jimmytaycorp on 6/18/14Variety Playhouse - Atlanta

We arrived in the middle of Classixx set and were surprised at the quality of the sound at the venue. Classix had a great setup and sound, and I am now a true Classix fan. The setup time for Cut Copy was inordinately long - setting up took almost 45 minutes, but it was worth it. Cut Copy puts on an amazing show, has amazing sound, engages the audience, really gets into their music and digs their fans. Truly one of the best shows I've been to in a while. They played all the hits and some tracks from their new album, which lasted over an hour and a half, and the songs were perfectly balanced to allow the crowd to rest after dancing and then rock again after resting. I was pleasantly surprised that the music was organic in that it wasn't just keyboards; everyone played at least 2 instruments and the sound was amazing. "Let Me Show You Love" was a prime example of organic sound, with the live performance being better than the recorded version and just melting faces.

Cut Copy & Classixx were stupendous!

by vschickie on 6/13/14Variety Playhouse - Atlanta

We had a wonderful time at the concert. The doors opened 1 hour after the stated time. Classixx came on first, and they were just the thing to get the crowd pumped up. Because of the late start, I began to worry that Cut Copy wouldn't get to play very many songs, but everything turned out to be just fine. Cut Copy gave a fantastic performance and played all the songs I had been hoping to hear. The place was pretty packed and people kept trying to squeeze us in. The last few times I've been to this venue the crowd has been pretty ruthless about shoving their way past you to get the spot they want. Don't sit in the front row, all the people standing in front start to back up and you'll get squashed. Better to sit on the side sections or 2nd row for best results.

Didn't know what to expect live from them but boy was I in awe by the end of the night. Not only were they amazingly good but the over all feeling and vibe to this show was next to none. They definitely know how to rock the house. Never a dull moment. From start to finish I was living every second of it.

Cut Copy opened with Jessy Lanza- both great!

by CutDrew on 3/30/14Newport Music Hall - Columbus

First time to the Newport. A great place to see a show! Close and personal with the act. As we walked in, music was provided by a one person show. She was the amazing Jessy Lanza. A pretty young woman with a memorable breathy soprano voice. Flanked by two vintage Roland synths and a Mac for sequencing, she fed us electronic music reminiscent of the Art of Noise. She humbly signed her CDs for sale in the lobby and briefly spoke with people who looked to chat with her. She was awesome! Between her and the main event, a djay used a sampled loop from Jessy which eased into upbeat dance music to keep the crowd bopping while the stage was reset. Without a curtain, all was there to see. And band members came into view as things were set up. Cut Copy with their unmistakable genre grabbed the audience from the start and did not let go until their encore which ended with Need You Now. A light show of moving head projectors, strobes, a powerful computer projector and fog dazzled as did the group. The energy of the music and Cut Copy's lead singer translated nicely to the crowd who waved, raised their hands and sang along at his lead. Missing was the common drum solo and bassist takeover while the rest took a break. It was not that long of a show. Surprisingly absent though was an introduction of the band members. I think crowds like to recognize them individually during shows. The Newport is a great place to see a show and this pair, Jessy Lanza and Cut Copy was a great show to see!

    Magical!

    by lilybird05 on 3/30/14Terminal 5 - New York

To see Cut Copy in concert was a dream come true. Huge fan since forever, and to see them come at Terminal 5 NYC was the best. It was a dance party(atleast for me and my friend) The band was fun but not as pumped as I would have thought, since they hadn't done a show in NYC for the longest. But nonetheless it was a treat to see them perform and I hope to again.

Cut Copy at NYC: short and effortless

by vjaerv on 3/26/14Terminal 5 - New York

The warm-up act was ok, artistic but perhaps a bit too slow and blue for warm-up. It consisted of a solo act by a woman who played downtempo synth house/dub/whatnot and sang with a dreamy voice. The band came in on time and did their show, which lacked effort and enthusiasm. When they first finished, people were shouting things like "I gave my money for this? Get back here!" The band returned for an encore of a few songs and then left.

Cut Copy always puts on a fantastic show! This was no exception, they sounded great, though I couldn't see a thing thanks to Terminal 5's horrible layout.

Short concert by Cut/Copy. Not a memorable event. Others around us also commented how short the show was.
