About

CupcakKe in Concert

Chicago artist CupcakKe divulges everything and apologizes for nothing with her brash and biting trap-inspired rap. Her heavy, hard-edged, sometimes humorous music is a clear product of her background. Born Elizabeth Eden Harris in 1997, she grew up in the south side of Chicago alongside fellow future rappers Chief Keef and Lil Reese—but she started down quite a different path. As a young girl, Harris wrote and performed her own religious poetry at her local church. Eventually, on the advice of a parishioner, she began to turn those poems into raps. Soon enough, with plenty of Lil Kim inspiration, her poetic wordplay quickly turned explicit.

With a tiny chunk of cash from her mom, she booked a studio to record her first demo, and CupcakKe was born. She began to upload her songs to YouTube and in late 2015, she started to see her views skyrocket. Within a day, she was featured on the major hip-hop site WorldStarHipHop. She released two more singled that would eventually be featured on her 2016 debut mixtape. The collection of songs proved CupcakKe's versatility beyond a shock rapper, with brutal and candid songs like "Pedophile" and "Life." Within a few months, she'd release her second mixtape, ‘S.T.D (Shelters to Deltas),' and by October 2016, she released her debut studio album, ‘Audacious,' including dance-fueled LGBT anthem "Lgbt."

Her output would continue to prove prolific. By early 2017, she was featured on English pop star Charli XCX's "Lipgloss," and released her sophomore album, ‘Queen Elizabitch.' At this time, most of her success was found online, but she'd soon hit the road for The Marilyn Monhoe Tour, bringing her vivacious personality to the stage. The following year, she was already on her third album, ‘Ephorize,' and by the end of 2018 she would join Iggy Azalea on the Bad Girls Tour.

    Disappointed

    by S on 9/11/23

Waited 3 hours for her to actually preform and was honestly a waste of time. And then when she does finally preform she only performs for 45 minutes. Overall would not pay even 40$ for another one of her concerts.

    CupcakKe a slight disappointment

    by Rachel on 8/22/23

First off, I'd like to say that I love CupcakKe's music and I listen to her a lot. So this isn't one of those situations where I just happened upon a show and it wasn't my thing so I'm leaving a mediocre review. I sought this show out, bought tickets way in advance and was very excited about it. CupcakKe was supposed to start her set at 10 but was 15-20 minutes late, which I honestly don't even mind. However, she then only stayed on stage for 35 minutes total, ending before 11. I know she has more songs in her discography than what she performed, so to me there's no excuse to only be on stage for 35 minutes. It even felt like she teased/hinted at a particular song for an encore but then never did. All around pretty disappointing for a show that I was very much looking forward to.

    Overpaid

    by Cg on 8/15/23

She only played for 45 minutes tops. Her dj hype lady played longer than she did and was more turned up than she was. I wish I hadn’t paid for premium seating and just sat in regular general admission since she didn’t even bother to play close to an hour.

I had a blast and cupcake is very entertaining. Without background dancers or singers she was able to captivate the crowd and I had no problems with the crowd.

You get what you pay for

by Anonymous on 4/24/23Paradise Rock Club presented by Citizens - Boston

No merch table (from what I could see/find), Homegirl was an hour late, and the people attending this concert very much lacked concert etiquette; Sloppily intoxicated/vomiting, pushing their way to the front, etc. Glad I only paid 25$ for tickets.
