  • CORINNE IS MAGICAL

by chitowndude on 4/23/10Vic Theatre - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

this was a great show.... hands down. great tunes, great band, corinne is a true talent. I love her voice, songwriting (in particular her harmonic sense) and, of course, her looks! corinne & co. are a talented bunch, in the age of auto-tune, it's always refreshing to hear someone represent live. I caught her on her first buzz tour in Chicago back in 2005, in a small club with about 150 people present... I have to say that her original band "hit" a little harder in the groove sense, but the current group is more talented across the board of a diverse palate needed to play the music from "the sea" live. highlights: all of the songs from the new records, plus a few great ones from the first album. She has a lot of material now!!! A crazy dub/reggae version of "i only have eyes for you" was a nice added touch. lowlights: most all of the uptempo stuff was in the first 1/4 of the set. there were too many down tempos towards the middle/end that kind of took the wind out of the sails of an otherwise great set. a encore of "que sera sera" at a "hey jude" singsongy tempo didn't help matters either. I left there feeling like I needed a redbull or a shot of espresso

Nice venue, great acoustics. Corinne sang almost every song off her new album and all her hits off the old one! It was a great show!

  • and I would like to call it beauty...

Last nights show was wonderful. Corinne Bailey Rae gave us her heart and soul in her performance. After such a tragedy with the sudden death of her husband I was just happy to see her on the stage again. Her voice was powerful, her stage presence was great and I always get the feeling that she is still surprised at how much her fans love her music and that is very endearing. She performed the entire "The Sea " album and most of her first CD. She also performed an excellent version of Que Sera Sera and another cover that even though I can hear her singing it in my head right now I cannot think of the title but it was excellent too :) . Overall she was excellent the band was ridiculously good and when she comes back to Chicago I will go see her again. She was beautiful , her singing was beautiful, the show and the music was all beautiful.

  • Corinne sounds amazing live!

The energy in the Vic was like none I've ever witnessed. Corinne Bailey Rae has qualities that I haven't seen in an artist in many years! This was perfection! She was perfection!

It's great to see her back out on tour and in a venue as small as the VIC is a total treat!

She was EXCELLENT!!!!!! The venue was very nice. I would see her every time :) Only complaint was two drunk females in the back of the room who were too loud. They could have stayed at home!!!!

Corinne and her band were awesome. She played for 90 minutes. I like that she is humble and gave 100% in her performance. It was also wonderful to be standing 12 feet from her. I have never seen anyone that close.

  • She was great!

I bought the tickets for a friend and was not really familiar with her music, so I was a bit worried that I would not like the show. However, her music was smooth and relatable, so I did not need to know it. She was very interactive with the audience and really tried to connect with everyone. The only thing I did not like was the standing-room only section because people were extremely crowded and aggressive about their spots. Two fights almost broke out which resulted in a few people being escorted out by security. So, I would not see a show again if it was held at the Regency Center, but I would definitely see her perform again!

SHE IS BEAUTIFUL AND AMAZINGLY TALENTED! WORTH STANDING UP FOR 3 HOURS STRAIGHT AND NOT MOVING OUT OF PLACE SO I WOULDN'T LOSE MY SPOT! SHE HAS SUCH A CUTE PERSONALITY. SHE GAVE AN AWESOME PERFORMANCE AND I WOULD LOVE TO SEE HER AGAIN!

  • Corinne: gracious and talented!

by LuckeeBee on 4/17/10The Regency Ballroom - San FranciscoRating: 4 out of 5

Corinne has such an amazing voice and humble presence. She sang a good mix of songs from both of her albums, including favorites such as "Like a Star" and "Put Your Records On." The only thing I'd complain about is the fact that she had TWO openers (not even Britney, Gaga, or Pink had that many), which meant we were standing around for an hour and twenty minutes before we saw her.

  • A Soulful Show!

by Nodrog on 4/16/10The Regency Ballroom - San FranciscoRating: 4 out of 5

It was great seeing her in a smaller venue because the concert was a more intimate affair. It was a wonderful blend of both albums, but I loved the songs from the first album personally. Had some issues with tall folks in front blocking my view, drunk people in back hollering and cheering at the most inappropriate times, and the venue got pretty hot quickly, but all it all it was a solid show.

My husband and I loved the show. Its not often an artist sounds just like her records but I can honestly say she did. She is so personably and performed for almost 90 minutes and still came out for an encore. I realize she has been through a major life-changing event with the death of her husband but we are glad she is back performing. I have been raving about her show since last night.

Amazing show in a great SF venue. She has an amazing voice and shows her talent with instruments throughout the show. Great stage presence, great band... highly recommend it!!!

  • CBR is the real deal!

by jujubeez on 4/16/10The Regency Ballroom - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5

Corinne Bailey Rae has such a beautiful, melodic voice, and gave a mesmerizing live performance. Her voice is exactly the same live as it is on her records. She is so humble and beautiful. The Regency Ballroom was the perfect venue for Ms. Rae - low lighting and intimate setting so you could really get up close and personal. Very romantic for the couples that were in the crowd =).

  • Corinne Bailey Rae is AMAZING!!!!

I loved the show!! You can really feel the emotion when she sings, and her passion for the music is incredible. Her voice is just as amazing live as on her albums. I recommend her show to everyone! LOVE HER!!!

  • Corinne: so humble and beautiful

by Corinnefan11 on 4/16/10The Regency Ballroom - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5

What an amazing concert! The venue, The Regency Ballroom, was exquisite as always. Corinne played in front of a sold-out crowd, going through her entire (almost) The Sea album with a smattering of classics from her self-titled record. Such heartbreakingly beautiful performances and after almost every song, she smiled and thanked the audience for making this night so special. And special was an understatement. The entire place felt magical as each note fluttered by my ears. An incredible experience. I'll be sure to see her again soon.
