If you ever have a chance to see this national dance company, take it! Their talent is beyond belief. Energetic, flexible, athletic, graceful, innovative - I could go on and on. I was not disappointed in any of the dances at all. The costuming, music, choreography and lighting were all amazing.
The entire performance was on point, music was beautiful and poignant, dancers were so expressive and fresh, loved every minute of it. The Bowie portion of the performance was innovative and wonderful!
The ballet was awesome, a true must see of skilled artists sharing their talents with an audience. I loved the David Bowie and Maya Angelou pieces. However, the Theater was hot! The A/C was broken and you could visually see the sweat on the dancers bodies from the balcony. Great performance, venue please get it together for the next performance.
I was absolutely blown away by this show. I could have watched them dance forever. The choreography was great, the dancers were brilliant, and the energy was amazing. In addition to being tremendously gifted dancers, their personalities shown through and only heightened the experience. This was my first ballet, and I honestly don't know if I would enjoy classical ballet nearly as much as I enjoyed this. HIGHLY recommend.
Highly intense and complex. This is not some cheesy garage dance troupe!
So exciting and memorable. The dancers were just unreal. So talented and graceful and strong and evocative....breathtaking. There were moments that I actually gasped from the beauty of them and their movement!
Dancers were not in sync. Somewhat of a disaster. Civic Center staff were incredibly rude which didn't help the overall feel of the performance.
A first class performance. The dancers were masterful. My congratulations to all. The principal male dancer is beyond belief in range of motion, precision and grace. The female dancer was also amazing.
Anyone that is into contemporary ballet should not miss this show. The chirography was very well and certainly on the cutting edge.
Complexions Contemporary Ballet gave an incredible performance! The dancers were breathtakingly beautiful! The best piece of the night was “My Man” choreographed by Dwight Rhoden and performed by Christina Dooling and Edgar Anido. This piece was a real show stopper! The dancers were stunning!
My husband, daughter, and I really enjoyed the perfection and diversity of the show, especially Act 2 and 3. My daughter is attending the CCD summer intensive, and now we can't wait to see the end performance on July 5th.
I guess I should have researched the term "contemporary ballet" a little better than I did. It was a beautiful performance, and the dancers were amazing, but most of it just wasn't what I was expecting. My favorite dance was the one done to a song called "My Man"...VERY SENSUAL. If you know what contemp ballet is and want to see a great show, this is what you're looking for.
Great performance from the dancers but the music of Nicholas Payton was even better. A must-watch show.
Complexions is a dance troupe that is a dance family. You can feel the unity and interconnectedness. It is also evidend the amount of work they put in to maintain the rigorous pace that is required of each dance selection. Complexions is a combination of Alvin Ailey, Martha Graham, and Twyla Tharp. The pieces were exquisitley done.
Absolutely magnificent! Richardson and Rhoden are masters! The dancers are simply incredible!

Complexions was an absolute treat to behold...every moment was memorable! I feel privileged that I had the opportunity to enjoy such a wonderful performance. The dancers were almost flawless in their every move, the music was amazing, the choreography unique and breathtaking....one of the most enthralling performances I've attended in Charleston.

This show was amazing! Hands down some of the most exciting contemporary ballet I have ever seen. The dancers are beautiful and the choreography was perfection. Everyone should go see this company if they come to a city near you.
