"Referring to his most recent record, 'Little Songs,' Colter said, "These songs were written over the last three years. I penned most of them from home and I think the songs reflect that. "With the album Little Songs, Colter's music continues to carry on the traditional sounds of his prairie homelands, while connecting a contemporary world to the values, hardships, and celebrations of rural life. He sings, "You might not see a soul for days on them high and lonesome plains. You got to fill the big empty with little songs."

Colter is just as good in person as his recorded songs! Great show and amazing voice! Would absolutely see him again
I waited along time to finally get to hear Colter’s Music in person was excited to see him play. So was my daughter who went as well. To be truthful Colter played two songs from imaginary Appalachia sleeping on the blacktop and Caroline. Both Awesome songs but wanted to hear Kate McKinnon , 13 silver dollars, snake mountain blues or living on the sand. Instead he filled the time with music that he’s recording and no one is even familiar with yet. Not sure he wanted to even play the music that made him at all. Sleeping on the black top one of my favorites was hurried and compromised in my opinion. I will see him again if he comes but I hope it’s better next time.
The opener, Vincent Neil Emerson, was phenomenal!! I hadn’t heard of him before but he definitely gained quite a few fans from his set. He played some songs with his band and some by himself and he had a great stage presence with every song that he played. Colter Wall himself was also just as phenomenal. He played some of his well known songs but also shared some new songs and his renditions of some other artists songs such as Charlie Crockett. It was a good mix of songs with a little something for everyone. He also did some songs with his band and some by himself and every song was equally great. He can back for an encore of two or three songs and brought out Vincent to sing with him for the last one. All around it was a great show and I’d highly recommend seeing both Vincent Neil Emerson and Colter Wall perform!!
Performance was great. Thought he could have played more songs, pretty short concert.
Overall, this wasn’t a terrible show. What Colter Wall performed was good, but he only played for one hour. There was an opening act, but I just feel like the show headliner should play for longer than an hour. The encore was only one song instead of the traditional two. I first saw Wall perform as an opening act for Cody Jinks about five years ago, and thought he seemed like a good talent. If he had added 30 minutes to the show, I would have been a happy concert goer.
Colter was so gracious! He spent time talking to front row fans. During the show he told stories. His voice is amazing! And at the Ryman! Wow!
Everything at the Ryman ran so smoothly! I SOOOOO appreciate that they operate with proper health and safety guidelines, yet do not pry into people's personal medical history by demanding proof of vaccination or negative Covid testing! I'm sure this is up to the artist's choice as well, which I have great respect for. It was a sold out show, packed house and overall delightful evening! Thank you Colter Wall and Ryman hospitality for all you did last weekend to create such a memorable experience for us all.
Incredible artist who sounds as good if not better live. His story telling ability and authenticity to who he is and where he comes from makes for an incredible experience. What you see is what you get. He’s the real deal, nothing fake about colter wall!
The venue itself was pretty cool. Had an old school theater feel to it and gave a close intimate feel to the stage. Drink prices were reasonable I’d say for a concert(I’ve seen much higher). The biggest issue is with the artist Colter Wall... which I’ll say I’ve been a big fan of. He seemed less than enthusiastic first of all and didn’t sing all of his biggest hits. The worst was walking off the stage , almost with no real farewell and having the entire crowd cheering, yelling, and stomping for an encore for a solid 5-8 min... only for Colter to snub the crowd and never return. We all felt shafted. Definitely changed my view of the artist all together. Won’t be paying to see him, or listen to him any time soon.
We left after an hour, the crowd talked through everything and we couldn’t really hear Colter sing or even recognize songs we knew. When the music got louder the crowd got louder.
We saw CW in Omaha last year and he was great there. Very engaging and really seemed happy to be performing. This time, I honestly don't think he interacted with the fans at all, except to say "this is our last song". He seemed annoyed when the crowd got loud and sang along. Vincent Neil Emerson opened and he was a great entertainer. His intro to the songs made you want to listen and hear more. We love checking out different small venues, so while we have been to Wooley's in Des Moines and like that place, we thought we'd check out CW in Lawrence @ Liberty. Plus the choice of a reserved seat is appealing. Apparantly this theater was built when people were 5 feet tall because our legs were in our chests the entire time. Not sure it was worth the upcharge to sit in such an uncomfortable chair with zero! leg room. Luckily we are not large people but others around us were clearly uncomfortable. This venue's ushers need to check seat assignments especially for the front rows because there was so much seat shuffling during the show that it was extremely distracting. the entire front row had to get up at various times because people were sitting in incorrect seats.
The show was pretty packed the general admission area was full so you had to stand under the awning. After going to the bathroom upstairs my buddy and I realized that it sounded better standing on the ramp to the reserved seating. So we just stood there for the second half of Colter Wall. You could actually see perfectly from there too. The thing that pissed me off the most was the fact that the crowd was stomping and cheering for one more song. Someone from back stage shined a flash light at the AV guy signaling to turn on the lights we’re not playing another song. I guess encores are something from movies? I just thought everyone played one more of the crowd was loud enough...
We enjoyed the show. Our problem was with the cramped seating in the Liberty Hall balcony. I don’t know who the seating was designed for but it’s not for normal sized people. My wife is 5’4 and I’m 6’2 and we had to sit sideways to fit because the rows of seating are so close together. We’ve been to many shows in similar theatre type facilities and never seen such cramped seating. Definitely won’t be doing that again.
We sat in the second row of the balcony. We could see the whole stage, Colter Wall sounded amazing! For me, the Walker Theatre was better than standing in General Admission at a smaller venue or having a less personal experience of an arena. It had a historical feel that made the vibe that much cooler for this type of music.
The show was amazing. Wade Sapp opening was absolutely great and Colter out on a great show. After the set was finished the crowd was wild and coming out for one more song definitely returned the love. Couldn't ask for a better performance from two talented artists.
Sweet little venue. Colter Wall has the purest voice in modern country music. Glad I finally got to see him!
Great concert. If you get a chance to see Colter Wall in concert, I highly recommend it. Smooth process buying tickets and using the app for entry at the venue.
We had a great time! Beautiful theater and sound was on point!
Even with balcony seats, the Bijou is an excellent venue. We had a great time, mainly due to Colter Wall's opening act and, of course, Colter Wall. He represents old school quality and his music writing abilities are outstanding. We hope he always flies under the grid and never becomes jaded by success.
