About

CLINT BLACK IN CONCERT:

Country superstar Clint Black knows a thing or two about penning a catchy tune – he's got more than 20 No. 1 singles under his belt, and his hit-filled live shows have the feel of a greatest hits tour. It makes him something of a maverick in a genre where many artists record music written by other songwriters. Black has spent the bulk of his career singing his own songs, and it's served him well. His penchant for witty puns and clever turns of phrase is on full display in concert – both in the lyrics of favorites like "A Better Man" and during his amusing between-song banter. With his warm baritone voice, killer harmonica playing, and catalog of clever-mouthed hits, Clint Black is a must-see for ticket buyers who like their classic country served straight-up.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Clint Patrick Black was born in New Jersey but raised in the Houston suburb of Katy, TX. He grew up playing music with his family, and by his teens he had serious chops on both the guitar and the harmonica. Black cut his teeth as a singer performing with his brothers in a family band, and he eventually dropped out of high school to play music full-time. He spent the bulk of the '80s working odd jobs while moonlighting as a country performer, and in 1989 he got his big break when RCA signed him and released his debut album Killin' Time. The record spawned five consecutive country No. 1s, making him a star overnight and earning him several Academy of Country Music Awards including Album of the Year and Top Male Vocalist. His chart run continued in the '90s with a string of Top 10 albums and chart-topping hits like "A Good Run of Bad Luck" and "Nothin' But the Taillights." Black parted ways with RCA in the early '00s and took a few years off to start a family, and in 2004 he returned with his eighth album Spend My Time, which he released on his own label Equity Music Group. Critics hailed the album as his most adventurous outing to-date, and Black has remained prolific ever since, consistently delivering both in the studio and on tour.

  • Good show

A bit older crowd than when I last saw him in '89 ...then I realized I was the same age as them....lol....good show ....if you want a performer to bounce around the stage with zany antics...this show is not for you...good music...performed well

Great show, great entertainer, nice venue. Can't think of a song he didn't play for his solo performance. Worth the ticket price.

Music was wonderful, Clint was great. The facilities could be better. The building was pretty hot and stuffy. The seats are all floor level, if you have a tall person in front of you it is difficult to see. Seating would be better with theater type seats or raised platforms. Not the performers fault, he was great and put on a fantastic show.

  • Clint Black was awesome!

The concert was amazing. The seating was pleasantly arranged. The only thing is the security was too relaxed. There was a drunk couple who was being obnoxious behind us and was not asked to leave. That experience dampened the event. But music was wonderful. I would definitely attend another event at the INN.

Clint Black and the band was great really loved the show the only complaint is he only played for 11/2 hrs but he did complain about the altitude so he might have been a little winded also he didn't stick around to sign autographs which I thought he might because of where we were at and he was the only performer they broke the stage down and was gone in less than an hour.

  • Clint Black has lost his touch!

    by Sarah1980 on 3/1/11Paragon Casino Resort - MarksvilleRating: 2 out of 5

I completely understand that the man has gotten older and that weighs in alot on this review. He did deliver the favorite songs and the show was somewhat normal. But his voice was very pitchy and broke several times. I guess for a casino venue thats what you get. But I feel completely robbed of the money I paid for the ticket, It just wasn't that good. Not only that but whoever was running the camera equipment for the jumbo tron was horrible. I spent two hours at this show and to tell you the truth after the first hour it was more than enough. I only stayed out of respect for my dad who gave my husband and I a single free ticket other than that if I paid full price for two I would have been very angry for what we saw.

  • Master Musician

If he writes his songs, he is truly a philosopher. 'Amazed at his guitar playing. 'Thought he was "just a singer." Big disappointment that he did not sing the song that brought me to his concert: "No Time To Kill." Would have preferred he end his program with something of his own, rather than "Steely Dan."

  • Desperado was done well

by UncleBo on 2/28/11Paragon Casino Resort - MarksvilleRating: 2 out of 5

The problem with the show was not how he played but what he played. Although Clint did play some classics like Desperado, Killing Time and Nothing but the Taillights, he left out some of his best material. For example, Untangling My Mind, Bad-goodbye, Where Are You Now, Loving Blind, When I Said I Do, etc. He ended the show with his Guitarist playing some kind of 70's retro song. I understand that artist get bored with the songs that made them stars but that is what fans go to the concerts to hear !

very good concert old school country music, Clean clear a crisp music, very talented musicians in his band. He seems to really enjoy preforming and i would highly recommend going to see him. I don`t think he comes out west to often.

The whole show was terrific! Clint Black was so funny and relaxed. Interaction with the audience really worked. The band and him were tight and Clint's voice is as powerful and beautiful as ever. Thank you for bringing him here to Napa.

What a great concert. Venue is beautiful and comfortable. The music wasn't too loud!! Clint Black is the ultimate entertainer from playing several guitars, the harmonica and even the drums.. Hayden Nicholas is undescribable. We'll be back for future concerts and can't wait to see Clint Black again.
