About

CLINT BLACK IN CONCERT:

Country superstar Clint Black knows a thing or two about penning a catchy tune – he's got more than 20 No. 1 singles under his belt, and his hit-filled live shows have the feel of a greatest hits tour. It makes him something of a maverick in a genre where many artists record music written by other songwriters. Black has spent the bulk of his career singing his own songs, and it's served him well. His penchant for witty puns and clever turns of phrase is on full display in concert – both in the lyrics of favorites like "A Better Man" and during his amusing between-song banter. With his warm baritone voice, killer harmonica playing, and catalog of clever-mouthed hits, Clint Black is a must-see for ticket buyers who like their classic country served straight-up.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Clint Patrick Black was born in New Jersey but raised in the Houston suburb of Katy, TX. He grew up playing music with his family, and by his teens he had serious chops on both the guitar and the harmonica. Black cut his teeth as a singer performing with his brothers in a family band, and he eventually dropped out of high school to play music full-time. He spent the bulk of the '80s working odd jobs while moonlighting as a country performer, and in 1989 he got his big break when RCA signed him and released his debut album Killin' Time. The record spawned five consecutive country No. 1s, making him a star overnight and earning him several Academy of Country Music Awards including Album of the Year and Top Male Vocalist. His chart run continued in the '90s with a string of Top 10 albums and chart-topping hits like "A Good Run of Bad Luck" and "Nothin' But the Taillights." Black parted ways with RCA in the early '00s and took a few years off to start a family, and in 2004 he returned with his eighth album Spend My Time, which he released on his own label Equity Music Group. Critics hailed the album as his most adventurous outing to-date, and Black has remained prolific ever since, consistently delivering both in the studio and on tour.

His hit songs were the best part. Sitting in padded chairs was disappointing. Location good, sound good. Padded chairs need to go!

  • Clint Black was awesome.

Excellent Concert. Really enjoyed ourselves. Great Seats. Good sound. The only thing negative I can say is the seats are too close together. I realize you try and fit as many in as you can - but - if you don't know the person next to you - it's very uncomfortable. You're literally 'touching' while watching the concert.

  • Good performance by Clint Black

Even though Clint was recovering from an upper respitory infection, he came out to perform and put on an excellent show.

  • Derogatory comments & too many Christmas songs...

by Anonymous on 12/12/11Blue Chip Casino - Michigan CityRating: 2 out of 5

Okay I love country music and George Strait, but this show was a disappointment. Nearly a third of the show was Christmas songs, it WAS Dec. 10th but it was not billed as a holiday show. Would have much rather had other known songs played instead. The seats in Blue Chip are close to the act but all on one level and NO butt room at all! It was really hot in there too. Stage lighting and large screens were nice. Staging was well lit and simple. Guitar changes between EVERY song were annoying. Personal stories were cute. Mr. Straight made the comment that his wife could not be at the show "because she is working... in Gary (IN)". I found that really offensive. Not sure what he meant, but it was clearly derogatory in nature. Expect more from a "class act" with limited knowledge of our area.

  • Clint Black was Great!

First time going to a Clint Black concert and enjoyed it very much. Ordered and printed tickets from my computer with no problems. Seats were excellent! Saved a few bucks by printing off computer and not having them mailed. Had no problem turning them in for our seats. I will continue to purchase our tickets this way.

  • CLINT BLACK WAS SOOOOOOO AMAZING!

by guamaw on 12/12/11Lumiere Place - St. LouisRating: 5 out of 5

He could not have been more amazing. His voice has NOT changed at all, he's still hansom as ever and does not look like he's aged at all! The whole concert was great and well worth the money! He has a great band and I never realized before how many members are in it but they sounded great.

  • Clint Black was amazing!

    by ChrisH42 on 12/12/11Lumiere Place - St. LouisRating: 5 out of 5

Clint Black was incredible. I surprised my wife with tickets, she's been a fan since she was a little girl, and had never gotten the chance to see him perfrom. Clint is a great musician, entertainer, and performer who is showing no sines of age or slowing down. Him and his band both appear to be having a ton of fun doing what they do. Black sounds exactly like he does on CD, even when doing his older material. My only quabble with the entire show was that Clint did not sing "Nothin' But the Tailights" and one of the two encore songs was a Steely Dan song (they are before my time) sung by his saxophone player. The venue was very small, but it was nice in that regard, in a lot of ways.

  • Clint Black was awesome!

My husband, a couple of friends and I went to the show. It was absolutely wonderful. We have always loved Clint Black and getting to see him in a smaller venue was great. Since it was a benefit show, the crowd was a little different than most country concerts but Clint was amazing!

  • Clint Can Kick

by TheTexasMarshall on 10/24/11Majestic Theatre Dallas - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

Great concert from a wonderful performer. Clint can do it all, write, play guitar and really perform. I give the show 5 Marshall badges.

  • Continuously one of the best entertainers

    by JPB16 on 9/23/11Minnesota Orchestra Hall - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

I've seen Clint Black more than a dozen times, from 1998 to now, and he is routinely one of the best performers out there. Backed by a first rate band, Mr. Black won't miss a note through acoustic and hard rock performances. This show was no different. He played most of his 13 #1 hits, a few deeper (Hayden Nicholas/Clint Black written) tracks that went back to his earlier days, a new one or two that haven't yet been recorded, and some of his classic covers like Willie Nelson's Time of the Preacher, the Eagles' Desperado, and the always popular encore staple of Steely Dan's "Josie." As he has many times before, Clint hands the microphone over to his incredibly-talented guitar/sax/backup vocals/everything-else-bandmate Bryan Austin and blows away the crowd on the drums. Being front row didn't hurt the entertainment value any, and having Clint sing at least a couple lines of Desperado to my wife was one of the highlights. It was also incredible to wind up with one of the drumsticks Clint played with, a couple of picks, and his copy of the setlist.

  • Clint Black is the "Man"! Great Talent,

by 1kuntryboy on 9/5/11IP Casino Resort and Spa - BiloxiRating: 5 out of 5

I have seen Clint Black 3 times now and he never lets me down. Clint just gets right down to the music, no fancy light shows or big screens and multiple costume changes. Just good old country music and wow what a voice. He is very talented on harmonica, guitar and drums. I enjoyed his performance. I only wish that todays new artists would take notes from Clint. We need more like him. When it comes to real talent , he is the real deal, not covered up with all the lights and extra loud drums that you get in most concerts. I would really love to see him produce a new album. He palyed many of his hits in this concert and i enjoyed them all, but its time to hear something new.

The concert was everthing i had hoped for.But then it was Clint Black, not only did he put on a good show, but the IP staff were great.T only area i saw was the food. We had the SEAFOOD and all of it was cold. we ate at about 1830 hrs so i thougrt it strange food being cold at this hour.

  • Nice venue, well done Clint

by Johnkla on 9/4/11IP Casino Resort and Spa - BiloxiRating: 4 out of 5

Took my wife to this as a "surprise" for our 35th wedding anniversary. Clint spent most of his time playing music and NOT, just talking. Would have liked to have seen him play a little longer, about 1 hour 20 minutes, but we enjoyed it. HE STILL SOUNDS GREAT!

  • by Anonymous on 9/4/11IP Casino Resort and Spa - BiloxiRating: 5 out of 5

Mmmmm I love me some Clint Black he is so sexy! Love his voice.. Even my husband who isn't a country fan enjoyed it

This was a great show! I have always been a of Clint Black fan , but the energy and sound was incredible. He has not lost one thing in his voice. If you ever have the chance to see him, do not pass it up, you will not be disappointed
