About

CLINT BLACK IN CONCERT:

Country superstar Clint Black knows a thing or two about penning a catchy tune – he's got more than 20 No. 1 singles under his belt, and his hit-filled live shows have the feel of a greatest hits tour. It makes him something of a maverick in a genre where many artists record music written by other songwriters. Black has spent the bulk of his career singing his own songs, and it's served him well. His penchant for witty puns and clever turns of phrase is on full display in concert – both in the lyrics of favorites like "A Better Man" and during his amusing between-song banter. With his warm baritone voice, killer harmonica playing, and catalog of clever-mouthed hits, Clint Black is a must-see for ticket buyers who like their classic country served straight-up.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Clint Patrick Black was born in New Jersey but raised in the Houston suburb of Katy, TX. He grew up playing music with his family, and by his teens he had serious chops on both the guitar and the harmonica. Black cut his teeth as a singer performing with his brothers in a family band, and he eventually dropped out of high school to play music full-time. He spent the bulk of the '80s working odd jobs while moonlighting as a country performer, and in 1989 he got his big break when RCA signed him and released his debut album Killin' Time. The record spawned five consecutive country No. 1s, making him a star overnight and earning him several Academy of Country Music Awards including Album of the Year and Top Male Vocalist. His chart run continued in the '90s with a string of Top 10 albums and chart-topping hits like "A Good Run of Bad Luck" and "Nothin' But the Taillights." Black parted ways with RCA in the early '00s and took a few years off to start a family, and in 2004 he returned with his eighth album Spend My Time, which he released on his own label Equity Music Group. Critics hailed the album as his most adventurous outing to-date, and Black has remained prolific ever since, consistently delivering both in the studio and on tour.

Clint Black was terrific. It was a blast from the past. He was full of energy and looked like he was enjoying playing for the audience. Clint sang hits from the past, Christmas songs that he wrote, which were fabulous, and even sang a new song from his new album he is working on. I can't wait to hear the new song on the radio. Clint played the drums and played many guitars. I didn't know he could "rock out". I can't wait to see him again. The venue was small. I wish he had stuck around for a few minutes after the show and talked with his fans, signed an autograph or two and shook hands.

  • Lots of fun with good music!

Loved the Uptown Theater and Clint Black did not disappoint. It was great to hear all the great songs from his CDs. Easy access to the theater with parking close by and free. Great venue. Will be looking for more events to see there!

  • Love Clint Black AND the Uptown Theatre in Napa

    by banshee962 on 12/18/10Uptown Theatre Napa - NapaRating: 5 out of 5

The venue was perfect. It's been redone, and it's beautiful, but most of all it's SMALL. Although ours were up front, there can't be a bad seat in the house. Clint Black put on a great show. I'd definitely see him again, and I would definitely see another show at this venue.

  • Awesome show in a awesome venue

The show was great. Great people around us and the seats were very comfortable at the venue! His mic volume could have been louder.

  • Clint Black was awesome!!

First of all Clint Black was amazing. Of course it helped that we were center stage and only four rows back. The venue was just the right size and made for a very personal, intimate feeling. We really enjoyed the entire experience.

The Clint black concert was amazing. Being in that kind of environment made the concert much more enjoyable. Though many songs were sung the talking to us that Clint did made it seems more one on one. The fact that he talked about his life with his wife and explained the songs and how they were thought of and when. I ave been to many concerts in my life but i feel that was the most enjoyable up close and personal concert.

  • Classic Clint

It was a very good concert. Great seats near the front and great sounds from Clint. It was good to see him perform nearly 20 years after our last Clint concert.

  • clint black still has it

I have been a fan of Clint for a long time. His concert fell like you are sitting around a campfire with a old friend. Clint tells storys, jokes, songs and over all is a wonderful show the oly thing that seemed out of place was Clint singing a stealy Dan song at the end. Thanks Clint for a great night I left your show a better man.

  • Clint's still got it!

by DBDave on 12/11/10Grove of Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 4 out of 5

Clint's still in great voice and his band is a group of very good musicians. He opened with a new song that I hope gets released as a single, "I've Been Better, I've Been Worse." One of the main reasons we went to this concert was to hear him perform some of his Christmas songs live. His Christmas album is the first thing we play every Christmas season. Most of the songs were reproduced well in concert. The song "Christmas for Every Boy and Girl" suffered in the rearranging needed because of the lack of orchestra and back-up choir. I think "The Finest Gift" would have been a better choice to include... Still and all, a great show featuring a broad overview of his prolific career.

  • Good Show

    by Netcomm6 on 12/11/10Grove of Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 4 out of 5

Clint put on a really good show. The opening act was someone I never heard of before the show but was good. Clint started out with Christmas songs that he wrote and then did his hits. Once he got going on his hits it was like he started to enjoy what he was doing and it was great. He came out for an encore that was super.

  • Clint Black was fun and engaging

We really enjoyed the show. Clint Black and his band came across as friendly and happy to be there. The show had the right mix of fun and warmth, added to their great talent. Clint's voice is as great as ever.

  • So worth it!

Took a country fan friend for his birthday. Went in with mixed expectations because I am not a country fan and had heard Clint Black live was musically great but lacked showmanship. It goes to show you can't always trust other opinions. Not only was Clint Black and his group very talented musically, but Clint is warm, funny and entertaining, not to mention downright adorable!

Great time. He was a great entertainer. Seemed to really enjoy being there and enjoyed playing to the crowd.

  • Clint still has it!

As age creeps up on all of us, the same has happened for Clint Black. But this is not a negative thing. I think it has added to his show. His music is still as good as ever but his humor now about dealing with his age made the show even more enjoyable to watch. It was almost like sitting in your living room and having Clint and few of his friends come over and sing for you. I saw Clint back in the 90's and enjoyed him but I liked this time around much better.

He sang all our favorite Christmas songs, and his hits over the years. Would definitely go see him again. As far as the Grove in Anaheim goes, it was a great venue too. Small, personal, and friendly staff. Would also recommend it to friends.

  • Clint Black @ Belterra

by Manners65 on 10/16/10Belterra Casino Resort and Spa - Florence VevayRating: 3 out of 5

Having been a longtime Clint Black fan and having previously seen his shows in other venues, we were excited that he was coming close to home. However, upon being seated at the Belterra showroom, our excitement cooled some. We purchased tickets 2 months before the show and were not familiar with the seating arrangements. Floor was flat, chairs close together. While the chairs' size were fine for us, several men in the row in front of us had to sit sideways to fit in the allowed space. Wasn't long before one went to stand in back. They were really crowded. While Clint and the band were doing great job, it was hard to enjoy due to the talking, somewhat inebriated young females in the row behind us. They talked constantly during each song, then whooped and yelled when the song was over. We moved, but encountered the same situation in the upper level. Belterra had a bar set up in the back corners. We left the show early and saw that other couples were doing the same. Don't expect we will go back to any shows at Belterra. Guess the young talkers were not really Clint Black fans, or maybe were just not able to comprehend to whom the other folks had come to hear. Just hard to believe they showed such disrespect to the performing artist. (and other concert goers)

It was a fun evening. We had good seats, upper level. He played for 2 hours. It was a very good concert. First time ever seeing him. Loved every minute of it. Bought a Shirt, would recommend trying it on first, the womens sizes run small.
