About

CLINT BLACK IN CONCERT:

Country superstar Clint Black knows a thing or two about penning a catchy tune – he's got more than 20 No. 1 singles under his belt, and his hit-filled live shows have the feel of a greatest hits tour. It makes him something of a maverick in a genre where many artists record music written by other songwriters. Black has spent the bulk of his career singing his own songs, and it's served him well. His penchant for witty puns and clever turns of phrase is on full display in concert – both in the lyrics of favorites like "A Better Man" and during his amusing between-song banter. With his warm baritone voice, killer harmonica playing, and catalog of clever-mouthed hits, Clint Black is a must-see for ticket buyers who like their classic country served straight-up.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Clint Patrick Black was born in New Jersey but raised in the Houston suburb of Katy, TX. He grew up playing music with his family, and by his teens he had serious chops on both the guitar and the harmonica. Black cut his teeth as a singer performing with his brothers in a family band, and he eventually dropped out of high school to play music full-time. He spent the bulk of the '80s working odd jobs while moonlighting as a country performer, and in 1989 he got his big break when RCA signed him and released his debut album Killin' Time. The record spawned five consecutive country No. 1s, making him a star overnight and earning him several Academy of Country Music Awards including Album of the Year and Top Male Vocalist. His chart run continued in the '90s with a string of Top 10 albums and chart-topping hits like "A Good Run of Bad Luck" and "Nothin' But the Taillights." Black parted ways with RCA in the early '00s and took a few years off to start a family, and in 2004 he returned with his eighth album Spend My Time, which he released on his own label Equity Music Group. Critics hailed the album as his most adventurous outing to-date, and Black has remained prolific ever since, consistently delivering both in the studio and on tour.

  • Clint Black was FORGETTABLE

by MobileMan on 11/5/12IP Casino Resort and Spa - BiloxiRating: 2 out of 5

Disappointed would be the best description. I'm a huge Clint Black fan. His voice sounded great and he played quite few of his hits, but at 1 Hour - 20 minutes he was done! Came back for a couple more songs but neither were hits or recognizable. ??? There were a number of songs he played in his SHORT set that he never recorded and or were songs that were covers from TV shows or something. Will not go back if he comes near again. He has so much music to choose from that if he is only going to do an 1-1/2 show that I wish he would have at least performed his own music. I know a few musicions and I'm sure he's bored doing the same songs and he's just mixing it up for himself....but everyone there paid their money to hear him play his hits and he only sang a few. I talked to some others sitting around us and they all were looking around too and shaking their heads.

  • Clint Black was top notch! The band was superb!

This was an amazing show! There wasn't a bad seat in the house. Clint Black was fun and friendly. He was relaxed and talkative. It was the day before his birthday and my husband's birthday too. Totally cool. For an encore he rocked out on the drums.

Nice intimate venue, great live music. Clint was there to entertain, but to have fun with the audience too. Worth the easy 60 minute drive and the reasonable ticket price.

Very nice concert. I took my mother 67, daughter 27, daughter 21, & myself 47. We all enjoyed it very much. We really liked his performance. We were glad that he didn't sing all Christmas songs. It was great!! Thank you to the Steifel for hosting him.

I first saw Clint in the 80's and he was fantastic, I wasn't sure if he could live up to the memory. No Problem! The man is still fantastic and his band members are equally entertaining. Wonderful show.

    by KDDM3 on 12/16/11Stiefel Theatre - SalinaRating: 5 out of 5

After being postponed for a week due to illness, Clint Black put on an incredible concert Wednesday night. His sense of humor and dazzling smile combined with incredible music was an unfortgettable experience, and he even played drums during the encore while his sax player took the lead. It was a very fun evening!

  • Clint Black he's hot!

by Freddie69 on 12/14/11Blue Chip Casino - Michigan CityRating: 5 out of 5

Tis the season to see a Clint Black concert because country singers always sing and sound the best singing Christmas songs. It was nice that he started out with a couple of them, after that he played quite a few of my favorites. Enjoyed them all! He's also personable with the audience, he's not on stage just to do his job of singing.
