About

CLINT BLACK IN CONCERT:

Country superstar Clint Black knows a thing or two about penning a catchy tune – he's got more than 20 No. 1 singles under his belt, and his hit-filled live shows have the feel of a greatest hits tour. It makes him something of a maverick in a genre where many artists record music written by other songwriters. Black has spent the bulk of his career singing his own songs, and it's served him well. His penchant for witty puns and clever turns of phrase is on full display in concert – both in the lyrics of favorites like "A Better Man" and during his amusing between-song banter. With his warm baritone voice, killer harmonica playing, and catalog of clever-mouthed hits, Clint Black is a must-see for ticket buyers who like their classic country served straight-up.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Clint Patrick Black was born in New Jersey but raised in the Houston suburb of Katy, TX. He grew up playing music with his family, and by his teens he had serious chops on both the guitar and the harmonica. Black cut his teeth as a singer performing with his brothers in a family band, and he eventually dropped out of high school to play music full-time. He spent the bulk of the '80s working odd jobs while moonlighting as a country performer, and in 1989 he got his big break when RCA signed him and released his debut album Killin' Time. The record spawned five consecutive country No. 1s, making him a star overnight and earning him several Academy of Country Music Awards including Album of the Year and Top Male Vocalist. His chart run continued in the '90s with a string of Top 10 albums and chart-topping hits like "A Good Run of Bad Luck" and "Nothin' But the Taillights." Black parted ways with RCA in the early '00s and took a few years off to start a family, and in 2004 he returned with his eighth album Spend My Time, which he released on his own label Equity Music Group. Critics hailed the album as his most adventurous outing to-date, and Black has remained prolific ever since, consistently delivering both in the studio and on tour.

  • Clint Black Acoustic show was NOT good

by Cali2008 on 3/11/13The Seneca Allegany Events Center at Seneca Allegany Casino - SalamancaRating: 2 out of 5

Was not aware that this show was going to be acoustic until the day before the show, thanks to my local paper. I was very disappointed with the entire show...Clint tried his hand at humor and failed big time. He has many songs that would have made the show much more entertaining. I think Clint's days as a top country artist are long gone.

Although the show was good, the seating was uncomfortable and too close. The guy next to me kept touching me. I suggest doing away with the chairs that are attached to each other. I really hateted it.

I liked the small venue tour, Clint and his 4-man group have been together since 1987 and it showed, good acoustic guitar work from both Clint and his friend. Vocals are still excellent, nice intimate show.

  • Clint Black excellent!!

by Timbear on 2/7/13Uptown Theatre Napa - NapaRating: 5 out of 5

Clint Black is an extremely talented musician, he writes songs, he plays several types of guitars, harmonica, and a tremendous singing voice. Clint involves the audience with several stories about his life, jokes, and Sing alongs. This concert, in this venue, is well worth the money, and will long be remembered as one of the best I have ever attended!!!

I purchased these tickets for my husband's birthday because he is a big fan. I went along for the ride and left that night a huge fan. Loved the Uptown Theatet in Napa. Because I booked early, we were only five rows back. That said, I don't think there's a bad seat in the house. Clint was fabulously entertaining and has a great voice with very gifted musicians by his side. Also, I must mention how much I enjoyed Clint's opening act. What a talented musician and songwriter. Kudos to her banjo/backup singer as well.

  • Clint Black put on a great show!

Uptown Theatre in Napa is a nice venue. Convenient parking 1/2 block away. Sell out show for Clint Black. He put on a nice tight show. Not a Country fan per se, but would go to another Clint Black performance. And would drive up from the East Bay for other performance at the Uptown.

The Clint Black concert at the Uptown Theater in Napa was wonderful. Along with his many wonderful songs, he talked with the audience and we all had a great time. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed Clint's music until hearing him in person. Great performance!

Excellent show. Very nice venue. Easy access and parking.

  • Clint... Hmm, fantastic (as usual)

by JestersMom on 2/3/13Uptown Theatre Napa - NapaRating: 5 out of 5

Another excellent Clint show and for me, his newly penned still untitled song showed his ability to touch my heart as usual and bring back a memory of a 1st date to see (a new artist) named Clint Black in the 1980's. This new song in particular felt like a gift helping to close the door on the sorrow from the loss of that loves life way too soon last yr. This more subdued show of the 35+ I've seen, and probably due to his hand injury from an unfair fight "with a light bulb" was one of, if not the best I've seen. The intimacy of the Uptown Theatre was a big contributor to a wonderful performance by Clint. Uptown is the only place to enjoy his still solidly beautiful, clean voice.

  • Great show

If you are a fan of Clint Black or even if you used to be, his current tour in the small venues is amazing. His live singing is better than anything recorded! This is an acoustic show with some drums and ran about an hour and 45 minutes.

  • Clint is absolutely wonderful!

by NanaLei on 1/22/13Pepperdine University - MalibuRating: 5 out of 5

I grew up country although it's not my first choice of music as an adult now. But I could go on and on about this event! Venue was amazing. Honestly not a bad seat in the house. Clint has a voice that is unmatched. Sounds just as good live as on a record. He is gracious to his fans, humble, and really funny. I wasn't aware that he had such an interesting a comical personality. Played some new stuff that is off his upcoming album as well as his old hits. I took my dad on a father daughter date to this concert and it was just a great time. My dad was blown away and I was also. If you have a chance to see Clint Black do it!

  • Excellent

by HugeCCRFan on 12/2/12Palace Theater - GreensburgRating: 5 out of 5

The evening started with one of the best "warm-up" groups that I have seen at a concert, The Stickers. They are an excellent country band with good interaction with the audience. The Stickers are a solid group with a great sound. After the stage was switched over Clint Black and his band came on and played for approx. an hour and 45 minutes. They were superb! Clint Blacks interaction with the audience was one of the best that I have ever seen. He was glad to be on stage, he thanked the attendees numerous times for coming to the show and his enjoyment was sincere and infectious. Clint Black gives the audience exactly what they come for and that is to hear his hits and have a good time. He sang, he played the guitar, he played the harmonica and for the last song of the evening he played the drums while the singing was done by another band member. While a bit odd, they wrapped the show up with Steely Dan's "Josie" but it was neat seeing Clint Black playing the drums. An excellent warm up band followed by an excellent performance by a country music legend made for an excellent concert!

  • Clint Black was better than expected.

Nice venue at Imperial Palace Biloxi. Clint sounded better now and more engaging with the crowd than last time I saw him 15 years ago. Highly recommend the show.
