About

CLINT BLACK IN CONCERT:

Country superstar Clint Black knows a thing or two about penning a catchy tune – he's got more than 20 No. 1 singles under his belt, and his hit-filled live shows have the feel of a greatest hits tour. It makes him something of a maverick in a genre where many artists record music written by other songwriters. Black has spent the bulk of his career singing his own songs, and it's served him well. His penchant for witty puns and clever turns of phrase is on full display in concert – both in the lyrics of favorites like "A Better Man" and during his amusing between-song banter. With his warm baritone voice, killer harmonica playing, and catalog of clever-mouthed hits, Clint Black is a must-see for ticket buyers who like their classic country served straight-up.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Clint Patrick Black was born in New Jersey but raised in the Houston suburb of Katy, TX. He grew up playing music with his family, and by his teens he had serious chops on both the guitar and the harmonica. Black cut his teeth as a singer performing with his brothers in a family band, and he eventually dropped out of high school to play music full-time. He spent the bulk of the '80s working odd jobs while moonlighting as a country performer, and in 1989 he got his big break when RCA signed him and released his debut album Killin' Time. The record spawned five consecutive country No. 1s, making him a star overnight and earning him several Academy of Country Music Awards including Album of the Year and Top Male Vocalist. His chart run continued in the '90s with a string of Top 10 albums and chart-topping hits like "A Good Run of Bad Luck" and "Nothin' But the Taillights." Black parted ways with RCA in the early '00s and took a few years off to start a family, and in 2004 he returned with his eighth album Spend My Time, which he released on his own label Equity Music Group. Critics hailed the album as his most adventurous outing to-date, and Black has remained prolific ever since, consistently delivering both in the studio and on tour.

Clint was funny, very entertaining and took me back to the 80's when country music was about singing, entertaining and playing your guitar. The show was great and I would recommend this to anyone intereresting in a great show.

Great singer and show. Chairs themselves much better than first show we attended there but too far to the side of the stage.

Clint Black was absolutely outstanding! I loved how he stopped in between songs and talked to the crowd and told stories. He did the harmonica interaction with the crowd where we had to chant in between his harmonica blows. I expected nothing less from my favorite country singer.

Every seat at the BAC is a great seat. The acoustic performance was amazing - very relaxed atmosphere - one of the best shows I've ever been to.

  • Clint sings from the heart & plays like the devil

by Dknite on 4/13/13Burnsville Performing Arts Center - BurnsvilleRating: 5 out of 5

What an entertainer! I was blown away by his soulful voice and masterful lyrics. His solo start of new music was intimate and then he brought out his 3 piece band and proceeded to put on one of the best acccoustic shows I have seen in years! The interplay between guitars was magic with a bass and percussion foundation a group can only develop after years of playing together in all types of settings. Speaking of the setting, this was the best acoustic I have ever heard at the BPAC. I've been to quite a few shows there where the sound wasn't the best but tonight they nailed it for Clint Blacks performance. Clint and "his buddies" put on one of the best shows of the year. Acoustic guitar duos that you would think came from Atkins & Gill if you closed your eyes. Great song writing, singing, stage presence & humor in an intimate setting. Can't wait to hear his new album later this year!

Very few entertainers are capable of doing what Clint Black did Thursday night. He engaged with the audience and it created a very pleasant evening for all. His vocals and playing were excellent. The acoustic performance was a treat for fans who appreciate hearing the music resonate as only acoustic sets can do. Clint did a phenomenal job of playing his guitar and harmonica, and singing. Multi tasking at it's best. He is one of very few who can play a lead role in the actual music playing and sing. He is an excellent musician with a talented group backing him up.

This was the 3rd time my wife and I have seen Clint Black. He never seems to stop. Very artistic and clever. Weather he does solo songs or with his group. Relaxing night for a stressed out couple.

Interaction with the audience was outstanding and what a great yet quiet sense of humor he has. Can't wait for the new musical numbers he performed to make it to a CD.

Concert was very fun. Would go see Clint again if in the area. He sang some songs I was not familiar with and did not sing some songs I was looking forward to, but it was still a fun concert.
