About

CLINT BLACK IN CONCERT:

Country superstar Clint Black knows a thing or two about penning a catchy tune – he's got more than 20 No. 1 singles under his belt, and his hit-filled live shows have the feel of a greatest hits tour. It makes him something of a maverick in a genre where many artists record music written by other songwriters. Black has spent the bulk of his career singing his own songs, and it's served him well. His penchant for witty puns and clever turns of phrase is on full display in concert – both in the lyrics of favorites like "A Better Man" and during his amusing between-song banter. With his warm baritone voice, killer harmonica playing, and catalog of clever-mouthed hits, Clint Black is a must-see for ticket buyers who like their classic country served straight-up.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Clint Patrick Black was born in New Jersey but raised in the Houston suburb of Katy, TX. He grew up playing music with his family, and by his teens he had serious chops on both the guitar and the harmonica. Black cut his teeth as a singer performing with his brothers in a family band, and he eventually dropped out of high school to play music full-time. He spent the bulk of the '80s working odd jobs while moonlighting as a country performer, and in 1989 he got his big break when RCA signed him and released his debut album Killin' Time. The record spawned five consecutive country No. 1s, making him a star overnight and earning him several Academy of Country Music Awards including Album of the Year and Top Male Vocalist. His chart run continued in the '90s with a string of Top 10 albums and chart-topping hits like "A Good Run of Bad Luck" and "Nothin' But the Taillights." Black parted ways with RCA in the early '00s and took a few years off to start a family, and in 2004 he returned with his eighth album Spend My Time, which he released on his own label Equity Music Group. Critics hailed the album as his most adventurous outing to-date, and Black has remained prolific ever since, consistently delivering both in the studio and on tour.

  • Evening with Clint

by TYSmitty on 8/6/13Sandia Casino Amphitheater - AlbuquerqueRating: 3 out of 5

Not sure what I was expecting, but show was folksy without any showmanship. Clint sat on a stool with his 3-man support group and sang his old songs mixed with a couple of new ones. He started 10 minutes late at 8:45 but ended at the scheduled 10 PM time although he came back for 2 encore songs after 10. He was very good, but the show had no pizzazz and was only one hour and 15 minutes long. Great singer, but little excitement.

  • Clint Black at Sandia Casino

    by Dave777777777 on 8/6/13Sandia Casino Amphitheater - AlbuquerqueRating: 4 out of 5

Clint was excellent. He, and his band, are accomplished musicians and play original material. Quite enjoyable to listen to. There was some excellent and interesting guitar work between Clint and Hayden Nicholas. They have enough talent that they didn't feel the need to distract the audience with light shows and dancing around the stage. Very nice.

  • Clint Black always entertains..

by PablosCrews on 8/6/13Sandia Casino Amphitheater - AlbuquerqueRating: 5 out of 5

With his usual mastery of the guitar and consistent voice on the lyrics he never fails to entertain. Mixing it up with brief backgrounds of the song lyrics and/or inspirations and humorous antics he carries the ballads to your heart and soul.

  • Clint Black - Good then & now!

by Dawamana on 8/6/13Sandia Casino Amphitheater - AlbuquerqueRating: 5 out of 5

The concert was laid back but GREAT and I loved his funny jokes he made in between his songs. The weather couldn't have been any better for a kool concert experience and what I liked that it was for a benefit cause to help the homeless.

  • Excellent!

by Shotzee on 8/6/13Sandia Casino Amphitheater - AlbuquerqueRating: 5 out of 5

Clint Black was amazing as always. Knowing this was a benefit concert to help homeless men, women & children transition out of homelessness was a bonus! I didn't realize I had 3rd row seats, which was GREAT, only complaint is that Clint & his band were on the left side of the stage rather than in the center. Not sure why.

  • Clint Black

by JimmyCE on 8/5/13Majestic Theatre San Antonio - San AntonioRating: 4 out of 5

The show was all I hoped it would be. Clint was very funny on occasion and his guitar playing and singing voice is as good as ever. He played many of his hits and mixed in some new songs. He also gave some of the origins of the songs. With the bar open for the whole show there was a constant stream of patrons going in front of us back and forth the whole time. This was very distracting. One of us is short and we need the seat on the aisle to see clearly without some big head in front of us. The Majestic ruined that causing the deduction of one star from the rating above.

  • Best Clint Black concert I have seen.

by Anonymous on 8/5/13Majestic Theatre San Antonio - San AntonioRating: 5 out of 5

I have seen Clint Black numerous times, and they all have been good, but this concert was the best one by far. It felt like a nice intimate setting and his acoustic playing was awesome. Loved it!

  • Clint Black still has it!!!!!!!!!!

by Tejas22 on 8/4/13Majestic Theatre San Antonio - San AntonioRating: 4 out of 5

All I can say is that Clint still has it? Tickets were very reasonable. It has been so long since he has been in the spot light that I either forgot or never knew that he is not just a great singer but a great entertainer as well. He told little interesting stories between songs either about the songs themselves or some of the people he has met along the way. All done in an interesting manner. If he quits his singing career he can certainly make it as a comedian. He is so very funny. The only reason I didn't rate this 5 stars is that it was a little too short. He needed to do about 2-3 more songs and it would have been fantastic. He would have deserved six stars at that point. Charles www.vintagetexaspaintings.com

  • A true C/W gentlemen

by Cworthy on 8/4/13Majestic Theatre San Antonio - San AntonioRating: 5 out of 5

It's not every day you get to see an acoustic set (plus electric bass) from a group of talented guys who have been playing together for decades. I considered it a privilege to be present in the audience. Got kids? Take 'em -- the show is clean. In a bad mood? Get your ticket now -- the show is punctuated with just enough humor to keep you smiling, if the songs aren't enough to do it. Don't like a too-long concert? No worries -- under two hours, and it is all Clint.

Absolutely loved it, took my teenage daughter who was not familiar with Clint Black, but she really enjoyed it. Loved the intimate setting. Clint Black is an excellent singer songwriter.

Loved the "just Clint and his guitar" time at the beginning of the show - and when the other band members came out the lead guitar player was phenomenal. Really enjoyed - just wished it was longer - only 1.5 hours with the encore.

  • Great show!
