About

CLINT BLACK IN CONCERT:

Country superstar Clint Black knows a thing or two about penning a catchy tune – he's got more than 20 No. 1 singles under his belt, and his hit-filled live shows have the feel of a greatest hits tour. It makes him something of a maverick in a genre where many artists record music written by other songwriters. Black has spent the bulk of his career singing his own songs, and it's served him well. His penchant for witty puns and clever turns of phrase is on full display in concert – both in the lyrics of favorites like "A Better Man" and during his amusing between-song banter. With his warm baritone voice, killer harmonica playing, and catalog of clever-mouthed hits, Clint Black is a must-see for ticket buyers who like their classic country served straight-up.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Clint Patrick Black was born in New Jersey but raised in the Houston suburb of Katy, TX. He grew up playing music with his family, and by his teens he had serious chops on both the guitar and the harmonica. Black cut his teeth as a singer performing with his brothers in a family band, and he eventually dropped out of high school to play music full-time. He spent the bulk of the '80s working odd jobs while moonlighting as a country performer, and in 1989 he got his big break when RCA signed him and released his debut album Killin' Time. The record spawned five consecutive country No. 1s, making him a star overnight and earning him several Academy of Country Music Awards including Album of the Year and Top Male Vocalist. His chart run continued in the '90s with a string of Top 10 albums and chart-topping hits like "A Good Run of Bad Luck" and "Nothin' But the Taillights." Black parted ways with RCA in the early '00s and took a few years off to start a family, and in 2004 he returned with his eighth album Spend My Time, which he released on his own label Equity Music Group. Critics hailed the album as his most adventurous outing to-date, and Black has remained prolific ever since, consistently delivering both in the studio and on tour.

  • Unbelievably exciting!

Superb! The Best! Unforgettable! Because of my work I haven't seen Mr. Black in 25 years and this night was just as great as the first time I saw him then. I will never forget this concert as I have never forgotten the one 25 years ago. He gives a great performace and of all the concerts I have been too he comes across as the most geniune person. He makes you feel as if he truly cares you came to see him. He is still awesome with the harmonica.

Excellent! It has been so long since we have seen him - did not know what to expect. He far exceeded our expectations. A fabulous hour and a half well spent. His voice is amazing and he looks great. Wonderful performance!!

Overall - boring - slow start - forgettable middle - average finish.

There are two reasons that I gave this only an average rating. Clint was very good, and his band was also very good. It has nothing to do with their personal performances, it has to do with the quality, or, lack thereof, of the sound system. Also, his full band was not there. I saw Clint at Clowes Hall at the Butler University Campus a few years ago. The sound difference was like night and day----the sound quality was so much better at Clowes than it was at Belterra. This is not the only time that the sound of performances that I have attended at Belterra has been mediocre at best. Since his full band was not present, in many of his songs---the missing sound of fiddles was obvious----and needed.

  • Black still has it, and then some!

by AngieNLarry on 8/13/13Belterra Casino Resort and Spa - FlorenceRating: 4 out of 5

When he first came out alone, we wondered what was up. Then he sang and played 3 or 4 songs and we didn't care. He then introduced his band mates of some 30 years and sang and played some more. My sister-in-law couldn't get over how he played the guitar and the harmonica at the same time in between singing the songs. He had a few funny lines too, even made a little funny when we cheered him mentioning his wife, Lisa Hartman Black. Sang all the old favorites and gave some personal background on the songs, how they came about, etc. Made a joke on himself about still working on his next album (One guy met a girl, got married, and had 4 kids since I started this album!) This was perfect for a small venue, though I think it would have been great anywhere. Thanks Clint!

  • Easy listening not a party

by Wildchildtwo on 8/13/13Belterra Casino Resort and Spa - FlorenceRating: 3 out of 5

For people Age 65 & older show. For non rowdy people. To listen to this kinda music turn your radio on. Not a good time party.

  • 1.5 hours?

by Anonymous on 8/13/13Belterra Casino Resort and Spa - FlorenceRating: 2 out of 5

Not great. The songs were fine, but $50 for a 90 minute event? And Andre the Giant's brother got a seat in front of me, so double bonus!

The intimate evening was just that. This was the best I have seen Clint . He has always been one of my all time favorites and he did not disappoint. His solo acoustic set was terrific, and the accompanying group 'jam' session was truly magical...

  • I regret that ...

I have but two thumbs up to give to this performance. Worth every moment spent at the performance - truly a class act - and every penny of the price of admission - I was amazed that the cost of these seats was a fraction of what I've paid to see other artists of Clint Black's caliber.

Clint Black is the consummate professional. Uber talented...a master harmonica player, a true musician, a wonderful singer with a down-to-earth persona that makes you like him even more. He also possesses a great sense of humor. Absolutely one of the best concerts I've ever seen.

  • I love Clint Black!

by Kerridb76 on 8/7/13Majestic Theatre San Antonio - San AntonioRating: 5 out of 5

This was the best concert I have ever been to. It was small and relaxed. I could hear him singing and we were close enough to see his eyes. He is not only an amazing singer, but a comedian too. I would go again if I could. Highly recommended. Also the theater was beautiful!

  • Clint Black was as great as ever. A good guy.

Clint does one of the best jobs of any performer that I've seen with crowd interaction. He is not simply speaking and singing to the crowd, but connecting with them through his humor and music! Awesome performer!!

Excellent concert. Brought a non-country western friend and she loved it too. Sets were well put together. His voice was great and band very complimentary. Entertaining...great humor.
