About

CLINT BLACK IN CONCERT:

Country superstar Clint Black knows a thing or two about penning a catchy tune – he's got more than 20 No. 1 singles under his belt, and his hit-filled live shows have the feel of a greatest hits tour. It makes him something of a maverick in a genre where many artists record music written by other songwriters. Black has spent the bulk of his career singing his own songs, and it's served him well. His penchant for witty puns and clever turns of phrase is on full display in concert – both in the lyrics of favorites like "A Better Man" and during his amusing between-song banter. With his warm baritone voice, killer harmonica playing, and catalog of clever-mouthed hits, Clint Black is a must-see for ticket buyers who like their classic country served straight-up.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Clint Patrick Black was born in New Jersey but raised in the Houston suburb of Katy, TX. He grew up playing music with his family, and by his teens he had serious chops on both the guitar and the harmonica. Black cut his teeth as a singer performing with his brothers in a family band, and he eventually dropped out of high school to play music full-time. He spent the bulk of the '80s working odd jobs while moonlighting as a country performer, and in 1989 he got his big break when RCA signed him and released his debut album Killin' Time. The record spawned five consecutive country No. 1s, making him a star overnight and earning him several Academy of Country Music Awards including Album of the Year and Top Male Vocalist. His chart run continued in the '90s with a string of Top 10 albums and chart-topping hits like "A Good Run of Bad Luck" and "Nothin' But the Taillights." Black parted ways with RCA in the early '00s and took a few years off to start a family, and in 2004 he returned with his eighth album Spend My Time, which he released on his own label Equity Music Group. Critics hailed the album as his most adventurous outing to-date, and Black has remained prolific ever since, consistently delivering both in the studio and on tour.

This was the fourth time I have seen Clint B live and no disappointment. He always shows up on time, his music is outstanding and he delivers good conversation. Country Music is fortunate to have a man of his talent and commitment continue to go on the road.

  • Experience

by Des on 11/18/24Crown Uptown Theatre - WichitaRating: 3 out of 5

Awesome concert absolutely love him he's one of my all time favorite country singers. The only thing I did not like was the fact I had to stay in my seat and could not stand and enjoy the music I don't understand why because number 1 I paid a good price for them seats I should been allowed to dance scream shout whatever I felt like to enjoy the show number 2 it's a concert not a Broadway show. That place is too strict on their rules probably won't ever go back.

  • Tight

by Michelle on 11/18/24Crown Uptown Theatre - WichitaRating: 2 out of 5

Concert was great! Clint Black put on a good show! The venue was bad!! Packed so tight , chairs right behind each other, couldn't see the stage, drunk grownups everywhere even clint called some of them down. Never been to a concert where Security walked the isle every 10 min.very thankful we did not have to exit the building quickly that would have been a disaster, wondered what the fire code was for thr building. You couldn't walk down a row the chairs were so close! Will not gi back to a concert there again!

Clint may be the ONLY guy 'round my age that CAN sing better than ME! My hat's off to ya, my brother. YOU didn't know it, but I sang Alabama, Johnny Cash, Waylon and YOU in the lobby, at the concert, and in the streets of Wichita. I've sang in Japan, China, Mexico, Canada & at least a dozen states for 42 years as an engineer. God gives ya gifts! USE them like you and I still DO, my brother! YOU saw me with the 10X hat about 15 rows back. I saw YOU do what few people CAN do .... entertain an audience and make their day brighter, and God bless you for that!

  • Great Artist - Poor Mix

by Disappointed on 11/18/24Crown Uptown Theatre - WichitaRating: 3 out of 5

Clint Black was excellent, but whoever was mixing the sound did a horrible job. Clint was constantly signaling to him to raise the vocal levels, but they never got loud enough that you could really hear Clint sing. It was 5 songs in before you could even hear him at all.

  • Better Than Ever!

by Hdwiggins on 11/15/24L'Auberge Casino Resort - Lake Charles - Lake CharlesRating: 5 out of 5

I LOVED the smaller crowd sizes. It was n intimate and personal experience, just how I remember! From the vocals to the Band, to the interaction with the crowd...it was such a refreshing feeling! Clint Black is definitely ONE OF A KIND in Country Music! Loved the Kiling Time Celebration!! Took me back to 1993!

  • Fantastic

by Hilary on 11/9/24Columbia County Performing Arts Center - EvansRating: 5 out of 5

Love Clint Black, “back then” and now. His voice and style are distinctive, unlike the current crop of male (and female) “country” artists that all sound the same, with the same sounding music/snap track. My husband and I used Clint and Lisa’s duet (when I said I do) as our wedding waltz !! Clint Black looks great, sounds great, more/more/more of his style of country music !

We had a great time at the Clint Black show. He sounds amazing and just like he did 35 years ago! Spartanburg has done a great job with the venue.

  • Excellent stroll down memory lane

    by RDC14975 on 11/4/24Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium - SpartanburgRating: 4 out of 5

My first big arena concert was seeing Clint Black on his The Hard Way tour back in the early 90's, but Killin' Time was the album that made me a fan. This early 90s country era is the only spot where my husband and I intersect with musical taste, so we jumped at the chance to spend a date night singing all the songs and spending time together. Loved the intimacy of the venue and Clint was great, sharing anecdotes and interacting with the audience here and there. Not only did he play the entire Killin' Time Album top to bottom, but he played at least another hours worth of songs - even briefly taking the stage solo with just his guitar and harmonica. Excellent performance by an excellent performer and I am glad we got to go. Definitely would recommend if Clint has ever been on your "see live"list - even if you checked it off 20+ years ago!

  • Great Concert

by Candy on 11/4/24Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium - SpartanburgRating: 4 out of 5

The concert was great. Clint Black did an outstanding job and played for 2 hours. The only thing negative I could say is I think there needs to be cup holders on the seats and the seats need to spread a little further apart. I had a larger lady sitting beside me and she touched me the entire concert. We were on the second row (pit area) and paid a nice price for our tickets and someone had spilled drinks all over the floor and it was slick. But someone did eventually come and mopped it up.

  • Outstanding Show

by Powdersville on 11/4/24Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium - SpartanburgRating: 5 out of 5

I would encourage folks to attend shows at Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium….Clint Black was outstanding, great performance and engaged the audience throughout his performance. Venue was wonderful…seats excellent, sound and lighting excellent…just a great performance/experience…definitely more appealing than the “big” 10,000+ venues.

Clint Black still puts on a great show. Hasn’t lost a beat since I first saw him back in 1993. He is a great singer, songwriter, and musician. He travels with a great band. Real country music and a LIVE show is what you get.

  • Guilty pleasure

by He missed the memo on 10/28/24Columbia County Performing Arts Center - EvansRating: 5 out of 5

Clint Black did not disappoint. Still sounds as good as he did 35 years ago. Was thrilled to see him as he was my heartthrob many years ago and thought he'd marry me. Guess he missed the memo. Seriously, he was awesome and loved his sense of humor.
