About

CLINT BLACK IN CONCERT:

Country superstar Clint Black knows a thing or two about penning a catchy tune – he's got more than 20 No. 1 singles under his belt, and his hit-filled live shows have the feel of a greatest hits tour. It makes him something of a maverick in a genre where many artists record music written by other songwriters. Black has spent the bulk of his career singing his own songs, and it's served him well. His penchant for witty puns and clever turns of phrase is on full display in concert – both in the lyrics of favorites like "A Better Man" and during his amusing between-song banter. With his warm baritone voice, killer harmonica playing, and catalog of clever-mouthed hits, Clint Black is a must-see for ticket buyers who like their classic country served straight-up.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Clint Patrick Black was born in New Jersey but raised in the Houston suburb of Katy, TX. He grew up playing music with his family, and by his teens he had serious chops on both the guitar and the harmonica. Black cut his teeth as a singer performing with his brothers in a family band, and he eventually dropped out of high school to play music full-time. He spent the bulk of the '80s working odd jobs while moonlighting as a country performer, and in 1989 he got his big break when RCA signed him and released his debut album Killin' Time. The record spawned five consecutive country No. 1s, making him a star overnight and earning him several Academy of Country Music Awards including Album of the Year and Top Male Vocalist. His chart run continued in the '90s with a string of Top 10 albums and chart-topping hits like "A Good Run of Bad Luck" and "Nothin' But the Taillights." Black parted ways with RCA in the early '00s and took a few years off to start a family, and in 2004 he returned with his eighth album Spend My Time, which he released on his own label Equity Music Group. Critics hailed the album as his most adventurous outing to-date, and Black has remained prolific ever since, consistently delivering both in the studio and on tour.

  • My new friend Clint Black

    by BuckoDe123 on 11/15/09Paramount Theatre - AuroraRating: 5 out of 5

My wife and I drove 3 hours from Iowa City to see Clint Black & it was worth the trip. It was a good sized theatre and Clint played awesome music, and worked the room like you were in the living room.

Clint put on a great show. Nothing fancy all music and non-stop. Too bad the show wasn't in the round. That would have played better during the softer sets. But overall great. I not a big country fan. However, country concerts are the only events I attend.

  • Clint Black was heart-warming

    by hall336 on 11/15/09Paramount Theatre - AuroraRating: 4 out of 5

Clint Black was a joy to see. True to all his songs. Keeping this review from 5 stars was the sound system. Believing this to be the perfect venue for a concert - a quiant, 1,800 seat theater rather than a cavernous hockey arena - we found the sound system lacking. The mix did not allow the talent of Clint Black or his talented musicians to come forward. We struggled to hear his voice at times, and could not hear his vocal support hardly at all. It improved slightly as the concert went on, but overall it could have used a little more volume. Perhaps the lower volume was intentional, with an audience that quite frankly surprised us with an average age most likely nearing 70.

  • Clint's voice is incredible!

by Blackfan on 11/9/09Clowes Memorial Hall - IndianapolisRating: 3 out of 5

Clint Black was fantastic! His voice and guitar play is one of the best I have seen. The venue was not ideal. Fans did not stand, dance or seem to have fun. Clint did a good job of trying to get the crowd more involved but I did not feel welcome by those around me to express excitement for the music.

  • Back in Black!

Quite an evening. Although short by normal headliner times, it was a classy and well planned concert. The personal touch and inside stories on several of the songs made a wonderfully educational evening. Singing several of his hits, and a couple I didn't recognize, Clint entertained and made us feel like part of the family\part of the band. The Willie Nelson story was hilarious!!

Up Close and Personal he was! What musicianship, personality and fun! Felt like he was singing to us in our living room! Just terrific!

  • Clint Black = Amazing

by nkgehring on 11/7/09Clowes Memorial Hall - IndianapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Great and talented group of musicians who really seem to want to entertain their audience. The relative intimacy of Clowes Hall over a large stadium allowed for a terrific experience. Clint was very entertaining with lots of funny stories between songs.

Clint Black did an upclose and personal show. He sang for about 2 hours and did most of his original songs. His Band was great! A wonderful show! Too bad that it wasn't sold out, people missed out on a wonderful evening of music.

  • Fabulous

by Fayonne on 11/7/09Clowes Memorial Hall - IndianapolisRating: 5 out of 5

The evening was full of surprises. Clint Black was not only great entertainer, but funny. His wit was very appreciated and entertaining. He filled each minute with music and kept everyone clapping and singing. Look forward to more new songs from him as they have a way of hitting home and bringing country music back to where it belongs. The only thing that would have made it a better evening would be if we would have been close enough to be able to catch one of his pics - would have loved to caught one for my grandson. He plays guitar and loves this type of music also.

  • Clint was amazingly fabulous

I've been a Clint Black fan since his first hit in 1990. Know every word to practically every song. My husband is a half-hearted country music fan and I wasn't sure if he'd enjoy himself. Boy he did. We saw George Strait at the Verizon in Noblesville, IN, and was terribly disappointed in his performance. It was like he couldn't wait to get off the stage. So you can see why I was leary taking my husband to Clint Black. His voice was right on and his band is great. I would see him over and over again. His eyes and that smile just make you melt. Sound was very good in Clowes Hall. Great concert!

  • Clint Black has an amazing voice!

We loved every minute of Clint Black's performance at Clowes Hall. He's delightfully personable and exceedingly talented. His group of musicians is well matched in their musical abilities. It was so much fun! His humor was an incredible surprise! The accoustics at Clowes added to the total experience.

  • Clint Black, so much talent, and a nice person too

by JImED on 11/7/09Clowes Memorial Hall - IndianapolisRating: 5 out of 5

What do you say when it's over?? Well, I say Clint is so much talent rolled into one person that the God(s) were good to him. And that it is unfortunate that the the concert ever "had to be over." He has so many hits, there were some that he did not play, but, in a limited amount of time it is impossible for an artist of his stature to play them all. Maybe I'll get to hear him play those the next time he comes around---which I hope will be soon!

  • Talent abounds

This is my third CB concert this year and the band never fails to deliver! Heard someone commenting on the way out that they have never been to a venue where the performer smiled for 2 hours straightl. Clint is has a great, great voice and is very funny and entertaining. We are blessed to have such a great group of musicians sharing something they obviously LOVE to do! Good Job Guys!
