About

CLINT BLACK IN CONCERT:

Country superstar Clint Black knows a thing or two about penning a catchy tune – he's got more than 20 No. 1 singles under his belt, and his hit-filled live shows have the feel of a greatest hits tour. It makes him something of a maverick in a genre where many artists record music written by other songwriters. Black has spent the bulk of his career singing his own songs, and it's served him well. His penchant for witty puns and clever turns of phrase is on full display in concert – both in the lyrics of favorites like "A Better Man" and during his amusing between-song banter. With his warm baritone voice, killer harmonica playing, and catalog of clever-mouthed hits, Clint Black is a must-see for ticket buyers who like their classic country served straight-up.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Clint Patrick Black was born in New Jersey but raised in the Houston suburb of Katy, TX. He grew up playing music with his family, and by his teens he had serious chops on both the guitar and the harmonica. Black cut his teeth as a singer performing with his brothers in a family band, and he eventually dropped out of high school to play music full-time. He spent the bulk of the '80s working odd jobs while moonlighting as a country performer, and in 1989 he got his big break when RCA signed him and released his debut album Killin' Time. The record spawned five consecutive country No. 1s, making him a star overnight and earning him several Academy of Country Music Awards including Album of the Year and Top Male Vocalist. His chart run continued in the '90s with a string of Top 10 albums and chart-topping hits like "A Good Run of Bad Luck" and "Nothin' But the Taillights." Black parted ways with RCA in the early '00s and took a few years off to start a family, and in 2004 he returned with his eighth album Spend My Time, which he released on his own label Equity Music Group. Critics hailed the album as his most adventurous outing to-date, and Black has remained prolific ever since, consistently delivering both in the studio and on tour.

What a great show!!! Clint and the talented musicians (Hayden Nicholas, Jake Willemain, Dane Bryant, Dick Gay, Dan Kelly, and Bryan Austin) with him provide a terrific evening of entertainment. The band was on their marks, Clint was relaxed, and they genuinely seemed to enjoy performing. Covering a wide range of songs spanning Clint's career, my personal favorites were "Killin' Time" and "Like the Rain". In between songs, Clint kept you smiling with a casual humor and a great "Toast" story about Willie Nelson... Having never seen him before, perhaps my biggest surprise was the astonishing cover of Steely Dan's "Josie" with band mate Bryan Austin singing lead, playing sax and Clint on drums. The show closed with a moving version of the Eagles' "Desperado". Put some light and joy in your life and see this show!!

Clint Black and the band were very good, the venue was better than i had expected- sound was great. Seems like there were several guests who had won free tickets in one way or another and were just there to talk and fill up space. that was a bummer

So me a a few of my friends went to the Clint Black concert on Friday night with what we thought was going to be a good concert. Well we were wrong. That had to be the worst concert I have ever been to in my life. I will never be returning to concrete street and hope that this review keeps others clear of the disappointment I have paid for.

Clint performed some of the great songs that he is famous for! The concert was more than what I expected, the only thing that I didn't enjoy was the opening acts, but that's what a concert is about. I truly enjoyed the concert and the venue. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking into going to a Clint Black concert!

Great show. Clint Black and Robert Earl Keen are both country music greats and seeing them live proves the point.

J.R. Castillo was wonderful too! I love being able to hang out on the berm and listen to such awesome music. The big screen is great in showing what is happening on stage. My only complaint would be the huge, huge distance between the crowd and the stage. I understand the reasoning behind it but it makes the performers so very distant. All in all a fantastic performance by all and the crowd was great.

  • Clint Black at Concrete Street- fantastic!

What a fantastic night of music last night! Clint Black and his band put on an excellent show. The music was amazing. Each band member is a wonderful musician. Clint, himself sounded and played great- and who knew he was so funny! He kept me entertained and interested from start to finish.

I'm the country fan in the family but my wife and I accompany one another to the others concerts! When I saw Clint was going to be at the Paramount in Aurora, Il I asked if she would come with me to see one of my favorite country entertainers, she said yes. I loved his voice from the day I first heard it. Later everone discovered his song writting ability and his wonderful presintation of them! When he came out said hello he stated that Lisa wasn't there, I knew that we would not hear the song "when I said I do" that he and Lisa sang so beautifully. The wife said she enjoyed his show more than any of the other country shows we have gone to and I have to agree with her it was simply AWESOME!

Clint's voice was finely tuned, and his harmonica sang with passion and artistic accuracy. The acoustics of the Paramount carried both perfectly. This was our second time seeing Clint Black and this setting was more enjoyable because of its "intimacy" (previous time was at an open air county fair). Incredible sounds with several humorous stories intertwined in a relaxed, fun, and professional presentation. After taking in this show, we'll probably see Clint anytime he comes around. My only gripe is that I would have loved to have bought a Clint Black tour T-shirt, but at $36 a pop - no way. I don't care who's getting a cut of the concession pie, $36 for a T-shirt is flat out ridiculous. From the looks of sales, I wasn't the only one who felt that way.
