    Great Tennis Venue!

by JoeDC9889 on 8/5/14Fitzgerald Tennis Center - Washington

The City Open is always well organized and features some fantastic tennis stars. Take advantage of the off-site free parking with free shuttle bus directly to the entrance.

    Great Cozy Venue

by DC20007 on 8/5/14Fitzgerald Tennis Center - Washington

This is a great place to see some good names and up-and-comers. All of the seats provide a close enough view to the players so don't worry about needing to sit right at the front. If you can, sit on the side opposite the umpire or he'll block a bit of your view, though be careful as you'll be facing the sun as it goes down. Wasn't an issue for us at it was cloudy but sort of sucks that you have to choose between being blinded by the sun or partially blocked by the umpire.

great matches! Dimitrov no-show a disappointment

by RickyBobbyGasket on 8/5/14Fitzgerald Tennis Center - Washington

enjoyed the semi finals on august 2. some good tennis and a fun little venue. my only regret was that Gregor Dimitrov pulled out of the tournament due to the "flu." He definitely was the odds-on favorite to win after his performance at Wimbledon and was the main reason why I got tickets in the first place...

    Citi Open Needs Some Work

by LongtimeLeggMasonFan on 8/4/14Fitzgerald Tennis Center - Washington

I've been going to the DC tennis tournament for years, and while I appreciate the addition of the WTA event, both times I've attended since it became the "Citi Open" have been disappointing. I'm not sure if it was fear of weather, but I couldn't believe the Friday night session didn't have more big names, that there were only 2 matches on the Stadium court (both ATP-- I didn't get to see a woman strike a ball), and that the Bryan Brothers were pushed off to the grandstand. It seems like Citi Open is letting ESPN dictate the schedule, which disappointed me, because I'm used to having tons of simultaneous options at the DC tournament. It used to be impossible to make it to all the matches I wanted to see in a session-- now it's a lot of hurry up and wait for mediocre matchups.

good tournament with some top players

by kanjivivan on 8/4/14Fitzgerald Tennis Center - Washington

All around the tournament was great. It is a smaller event but it was well organized and fun. We had a happy hour included which was well-worth it. We also had fun just walking around and checking some stuff out. The first match was okay but the second match was fantastic.

Same review for all sessions we attended (3, 7 & 8): Great to see some high quality tennis locally. Unfortunately, a few players we would have liked to see pulled out. (e.g., Dimitrov). 1. They really need to do something to provide more and better food choices. Basically, all there is available is "bar food" and not much in the way of healthy food. Given the prices are high, the food quality and selection should be much better. Given the location of the facility, there really is no option to go off site nearby for food. 2. Also, the schedule of play was such that we ended up with significant dead time before the next "play will not begin before…" For these times, the seating is very limited and there is little else to do. 3. It would be great to have the schedule for players on the practice courts, or some other way to know who is on or coming up on, the different practice courts. 4. We were surprised there weren't more women's matches in the stadium. 5. There should be a better effort to provide value to those ticket holders for matches that get rained out. We didn't, but it definitely affects my willingness to pay for tickets. We would likely by more if we knew we weren't potentially going to get "bageled" by weather. Other tournaments I've attended, have offered ticket holders to come back the next morning for the make-up matches, etc.

    Great food & competition

by mlouisville on 8/4/14Fitzgerald Tennis Center - Washington

The event was great, but the volunteers were a bit overbearing. We had multiple situations where the volunteer got in our way of having a great time. However, the under armour tent and picture studio was awesome. I highly recommend.

    Got to see many pros

by Tennisfanvu on 8/4/14Fitzgerald Tennis Center - Washington

Overall a well organized event. Got a chance to see several games throughout the evening. Too bad the Tournament doesn't attract more of the top pros.

    Very entertained day

by Zoco on 8/3/14Fitzgerald Tennis Center - Washington

The event is well organized and the level of Tennis play is tops. The facility will look and feel better as it's being improved. Concesion prices are equal or slightly lower than in other sport venues. Shuttle from Metro worked perfectly. Alltogether a very nice, fun, cool experience.

A tournament to enjoy at the nation's capital!!!

by Ixec76 on 8/3/14Fitzgerald Tennis Center - Washington

Every year the Citi Open brings world class tennis to Washington DC and it's a great chance for people who for some reason or another could not enjoy the Grand Slam tournaments. The organizers did an excellent job! The crowd gets to know one another enjoying good tennis and good food. The volunteers also did an excellent job in making the event a success. Make it an annual tradition for you and your family!!

    Everyone should go!

by adicecream on 8/3/14Fitzgerald Tennis Center - Washington

The very very good: Pro tennis right down the road! Great matches, great weather. See top ten players and rising stars. The food selections were much better than in the past. The little bit of bad: Too much time between some matches because of the need to accommodate TV schedules. More creative scheduling is needed, e.g. use doubles matches to make sure there is always something going on.

    Great Tennis

by Anonymous on 8/3/14Fitzgerald Tennis Center - Washington

The Kennedy Stadium is an excellent venue. Not a bad seat in the whole place. In a relatively compact area, you can wander from math to match and see lots of excellent tennis in a single day. The highlight of the third round was the match between Karlovic and Johnson--two strong players with contrasting games battling through two tiebreaks. And the underdog won . . . ALMOST always a satisfying result. We may look back at this Citi Open as Johnson's break-out tournament. Easy to get there by public transportation, and the staff at the tournament were excellent. But the planners could make some improvements, e.g., providing more seating in the concession area and posting Section Numbers at the entrances to the main court.

Citi Open WTA/ATP Tennis Torney 500

by specialK1702 on 8/2/14Fitzgerald Tennis Center - Washington

Outstanding tennis! Great facilities and good food/berverages. Superb opportunity for all to see, feel, hear, & smell professional tennis! Only wish is that the Citi Open Tennis merchandise could be expanded to cater to the more "general consumer." Quality products for sale (shirt, shorts, & hats) but had a limited inventory on Wednesday, 7/30/14. Nonetheless, we attended for the "tennis" and it was a superb full day being up close & personal watching the world class tennis professionals!!

    Great Event!

by DCM65 on 8/2/14Fitzgerald Tennis Center - Washington

The Citi Open 2014 was awesome! I haven't been to the event in many years and boy has it changed. I took my 13 year old daughter and it couldn't have been nicer. It was easy to get to with the buses from Silver Spring. The food options were terrific and reasonably priced for a sporting event. The matches on Wednesday were great along withe weather. Particularly on the outside courts, the fans are so intimate with the players it makes it great for the spectators. The matches started promptly and it made it easy to watch. My daughter loved the free radios along with how accommodating all the players were with signing autographs. It truly was one of the best sporting events I've been to in years and as a native Washingtonian I'm really proud of how well this event shows off Rock Creek Park and the 16th street corridor. Thanks again.

    It was amazing!

by tennisfan4 on 8/2/14Fitzgerald Tennis Center - Washington

This was our first visit to see pro tennis players and it was so cool to see them play right in front of us. We got some autographs, too. Too bad couldn't bring the camera because people with smartphones were able to take photos with players. But overall it was unforgetable day and we would go back next year for sure.
