About

Cirque du Soleil has dazzled audiences the world over, and now it’s finally on Broadway with a “jaw-dropping” (Variety) new spectacle! PARAMOUR, A CIRQUE DU SOLEIL MUSICAL spins the thrilling tale of a beautiful young actress forced to choose between love and art in the glamorous world of Golden Age Hollywood. Featuring “death-defying” acrobatics (Deadline) and sumptuous music and dance, PARAMOUR will transport you to a sublime world of “breathtaking magic” (The New York Times) as it walks the exhilarating tightrope of the heart.

    Paramour

by Anonymous on 3/21/17Lyric Theatre - New York

It was great but not what I expected it being a Cirque de Soleil show. I had seen O which was OUT OF THIS WORLD ....this was a musical with acrobatics.....very good. Sad to see it going.

    So-so

by Anonymous on 3/21/17Lyric Theatre - New York

I was disappointed in the show. While it was a nice show, I was expecting to see more "classic" Cirque du Soleil. This seemed more like a Broadway show with some acrobatics thrown in. I've been to other Cirque shows where you couldn't take your eyes off of the stage for fear of missing something. This wasn't like that. I think it would've been better with less singing and less of a storyline and more Cirque performers.

    Awful.

by Andrew36 on 3/20/17Lyric Theatre - New York

Cirque du Soleil has a reputation for being a must-see show. Unfortunately, the company was sold and the original producer no longer has anything to do with the programs. I bought tickets to Paramour without knowing this, expecting to see a spectacular display of human agility. Instead, I saw an absolutely AWFUL broadway story, with terrible characters and a shallow, mean-spirited plot. The acting was bad, the voices were not Broadway-quality, and the whole thing felt like a cruel bait-and-switch. There were perhaps 3 acrobatic performances, but they had very little flair or ingenuity. I was extremely disappointed. The rest was just people doing parlour tricks in the background - which was more entertaining than the mess that was in the foreground.

Paramour was a sight to see

by westendlove on 3/17/17Lyric Theatre - New York

Yes, this is a basic plot which helps move the story relatively seamlessly into the next fantastic performance of the incredibly talented cirque performers. Even if you have seen a cirque du soleil performance before, paramour is a much more streamlined experience, and is good for all ages.

This was amazing! It was my first time in NY and my first time seeing a Broadway show and a Cirque du Soleil show and it was really worth it!! Some friends told me that if you have already seen either (Broadway or Cirque), it's not worth it because it's like it's not Broadway not Cirque du Soleil. But for me it was the first time, so it was fantastic! I recommend paying more and being in the first seats so you can really SEE everything, the bodies, their movements, it's just amazing. Would pay again to see it again!

    PARAMOUR: soaring, splendid, spectacular!

by LarryArnold on 3/16/17Lyric Theatre - New York

Stunningly brilliant and creative production at a great venue. We have seen at least 12 Cirque productions and PARAMOUR is, as billed, quite different. Yes, it is a Broadway-style musical and less acrobatics/circus. Yet the 'circus' acts remain impressive - aerialists soar above the first 10 rows of the orchestra - and are woven seamlessly and symbolically into the story line of a love triangle (no need for a spoiler alert) set in the Golden Age of Hollywood. The music is awesome (of course), though surprisingly the orchestra gets no recognition (so deserved!) at curtain call. PARAMOUR was the impetus for a weekend getaway to NYC - a 3.5 hour drive - and made for a most memorable trip. Absolutely recommend to any/everyone. Bravo, Cirque! By all means, catch PARAMOUR if you can before it closes at the magnificent Lyric Theatre on April 16, 2017. Two hints: 1) Seating close to the stage is not the best for viewing PARAMOUR, as the viewing of projected live video and film footage will be curtailed. 2) Discounted (50%) tickets were being offered the Sunday we attended (Ticketmaster's pricing was a BOGO deal); if sustained, this makes PARAMOUR among the very best last-minute Broadway entertainment treasures in The Big Apple right now.

    Cirque never fails

by puertothai on 3/15/17Lyric Theatre - New York

I've seen many Cirque du Soleil shows and was curious to see how they would pull off a Broadway show. I was expecting more Broadway and less acrobatics but I felt that it was a perfectly equal mixture of the both. The storyline was lovely, so was the acting and the singing was amazing.

    Spectacular

by LuMar64 on 3/15/17Lyric Theatre - New York

From the opening, to the story tale, to the acrobats, to the actors and beyond was captivating and mesmerizing. The show had every ounce of glamour, beauty, laughter and suspense. It will make you want to watch it again because there were too many activities happening at once that made you wonder if you missed any of the good events.

    Excellent

Love Cirque shows, but this one is a bit different. It combines a musical play with the acrobatics of Cirque. Excellent show!

    Not Your Usual Cirque

by TangoCharlie on 3/14/17Lyric Theatre - New York

We went to a Saturday Matinee to see how Musical and Acrobatic performances would be combined by the minds of Cirque. Very impressive show! The creativity and crisp professional styling that they are known for gave us a seamless integration of storytelling using outstanding vocal and athletic performances. It is a great bridge for non-Cirque fans to the long tradition of the Canadian troupe. Recommended.
