About

The holidays have arrived, and with them the anticipated Royal Ball! Cinderella's cruel Stepmother and Stepsisters are plotting to win the heart of The Prince, but a spunky and barefoot servant girl may just become the belle of the ball. This swashbuckling Cinderella just needs a little help from her Fairy Godmother and one ratty Footman to find her happy ending. Emerald City's adaptation of this favorite fairy tale is a musical holiday wish come true.

Cinderella is best suited for ages 3-10.

    3yr old didnt budge

by AuntiePrincess on 12/12/12Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

For the entire first half, my niece did not move in her seat. She was frozen with delight. Step sisters were fantastic!! Music a tad too loud. The "carriage" would be way better as a carriage. Little kids remember certain key things. The car thing was kinda wierd. Would definately suggest this performance for little girls for sure though.

    Cinderella was well done!

I thought the performance was great. I enjoyed the comical twist on the story line. It made it more entertaining for adults.

    Cinderella

by kitty38 on 12/11/12Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

I had purchased tickets months ago to see this play. Little did I know that it was not the cinderella everyone is used to. I wish I would have know this prior to buying the tickets. I would have to say the play was fair, but very misleading. Cinderella to me is blonde, not brunette, and wears a blue dress, not a white sparkly gown. Just a little disappointed, as many others there I am sure were also. (I saw a lot of eye rolling and people questioning where was the real cinderella?)

    Not worth the money

by Tinlizzy14 on 12/11/12Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

The play was ok but didn't keep my 4 year old's attention. It was probably my fault for bringing a child so young. I didn't think that it was worth the money spent on the ticket or we paid for parking but did give us a nice excuse to get out of the house and dress up.

    Loved show

by NanatoFour on 12/11/12Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

I took my 2 granddaughters - ages 6 and 8. They were entertained the whole show. I was also entertained. This is a modern take on Cinderella and very funny. There is some audience participation. Singing is beautiful. I would definitely recommend finding the time to see this play if you are in Chicago.

Not exactly for geared for children as advertised.

by trm103 on 12/4/12Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

The play was touted as a show geared for children. While the actors were good, the variation from the original story (Cinderella with brown hair, the stepsisters with their masculine voices used sometimes, etc) was unsettling for the children who were expecting the traditional Cinderella. This was more of a modern day story. Okay but not great.

    Cinderella Devine

by AAJw2kids on 12/3/12Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

We so enjoyed the performance of Cinderella. This creative interpretation was entertaining, fast-paced, and well performed. The performance was perfect for a largely under 12 audience. The interaction with the audience was humorous without seeming trite. My children and I thank the cast and crew for such a memorable visit to the Windy City!

Cinderella - a disappointment to me

by LLB03 on 11/27/12Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

I loved the facility, had great seats, but the play was a disappointment. My grandchildren, 4 & 6 were looking for a little more of the traditional look to it. Didn't expect the wicked sisters to be guys in bad costumes, were wondering why Cinderella was not wearing a blue dress with blonde hair, and found the fairy Godmother to be cute, but a let down to the story. This storyline is geared toward little girls, so why put the modern day twist to it and leave them disappointed.?

    NOT FOR CHILDREN

by KKmamma on 11/27/12Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

What a disappointment! This is not for 3-10 year olds as advertised. As my husband put it, this is more like the "Will and Grace" version of Cinderella. My daughter just wanted the story instead we got cross dressing step sisters, inappropriate jokes and only a very loose account of Cinderella. I would give it minus 1 star if I could. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILD TO THIS! Save your money and wait for Disney on Ice.

    Cute version of a classic

by pakitkat on 11/25/12Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

This is a nice way to introduce your little ones to a musical. Cozy theater - no seat is bad even at the last row. Wesley, the prince's valet did a nice job mingling with the audience before the show. Our only point of contention was the fact that they passed out a little autograph booklet to the kids and then the stars never came out after the performance to sign them. We asked one of the ushers if he could do it and he obliged with a sweet, "Find yourself a prince" and signed it "not a prince." My granddaughter didn't get it but we did and were grateful.
