Cincinnati Bengals Team History

The Cincinnati Bengals were founded by legendary head coach and Pro Football Hall of Famer Paul Brown, and played their first season in 1968. The Bengals got their name from Brown's coaching past, as tiger mascots had been a common thread throughout his career. The Bengals have won 11 AFC North Championship titles and three AFC Championship titles. They won their first division title as part of the AFC Central in 1970, becoming the first expansion team to win a championship in its first three years.

The Bengals first advanced to the Super Bowl during the 1981 and 1988 seasons, and then again in 2022 for Super Bowl LVI. Since 2005, the team has advanced to the playoffs nine times, including two AFC North Division titles.

Bengals football @ Paul Brown Stadium.

by phildown on 9/14/09Paul Brown Stadium - Cincinnati

I came in from California to watch the Ohio State vs USC game but since I was still in town I thought I would try out the Bengals football experience since I am probably not going to come back here again. As far as the stadium experience goes it is really good. The concession stands move by as fast as I have ever seen in a stadium and the prices for the food were pretty good compared to other stadiums. I liked the design of the stadium because where I was sitting I got to sit in the shade the whole time even though the sun was on the other side of the stadium by the end of the game. I had heard some stories about how mean people could be to opposing fans but the Bengals fans were really cool the the people wearing the Broncos jerseys and no one mentioned anything to me even though I was wearing my USC hat the day after they stole victory from the Buckeyes. This was actually a good experience going to this stadium and watching the game. I wish the Bengals didn't blow it in the end when I thought my boy from USC Carson Palmer lead them to the winning touchdown drive but I can't blame the stadium for that. Definitely recommended for the fan experience as long as you aren't expecting too much from the Bengals on the field. =P

Had a great time, wish the outcome was different. The tailgating before the game can't be beat.

The Bengals game was a good time spent with friends. We tailgated and the whole nine. The team may let you down but hopefully your friends do not. I recommend going.

    Bengals Stink

by gr8aunt on 9/14/09Paul Brown Stadium - Cincinnati

I was very disappointed in the team. Even the die hard fans BOO their own team. Great stadium. I took my nephew, that is his fav. team and he just graduated 8th grade. Came all the way from Chicago. The town of Cincinnati is scary. Not a soul on the streets on a Saturday afternoon. Creepy. I would not return unless the Bengals team was heading to the superbowl it would be a day trip. GO BEARS!!!

    my first game

by BroncosSince1985 on 9/14/09Paul Brown Stadium - Cincinnati

As a long time Denver fan living in the cincinnati area, I have not had to many chances to watch them play. Well Sep. 13 I got my chance to see Denver play in a opener. It was super easy getting the tickets, and we found great parking. Even though the seats were about as far back as you could get. I still had a great view of Denver winning.

    Greats Seats, Poor outcome

by Chili26 on 9/14/09Paul Brown Stadium - Cincinnati

Great aisle seats in section 201. Received in a timely manner. Too bad the Bengals gave up the miracle deflection at the end. All comes with being a Bengal fan I guess.

by Broncofanforever on 9/14/09Paul Brown Stadium - Cincinnati

What a game!!! I have never seen any better. The Bengals were awesome and the Broncos were awesome. I am so glad I am a Bronco fan. I could feel the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. I had never experienced that.

    Bengals disappointing once again!!!!!!!!!!

by kampxyz on 9/14/09Paul Brown Stadium - Cincinnati

I have been going to Bengals games every year for the past 20 years and have only been to one winning game. (Suprizing being a Bengal fan!!) Ticket prices are way too high for the record the Bengals put up each year. AND $7.50 A BEER IS OUTRAGEOUS!! I say I won't go back but when next year comes I can't help but to be hopeful....or just plain stupid....and I will probably go again.

    awesome game

by number1broncofan on 9/14/09Paul Brown Stadium - Cincinnati

What an exciting game from start to end! Always play till the whistle blows! Not fond of the ticket prices at the Paul Brown Stadium but the game was awesome. Bengal offensive coaching needs to be evaluated.

    Amazing Ending....UNBELIEVABLE!

by ADUB198100 on 9/14/09Paul Brown Stadium - Cincinnati

This was a great opening season game. The Bengal's defense was great. The last TD by Denver in the final seconds was a one-in-a million.

    Bengals were on fire!

by KATT33 on 9/4/09Paul Brown Stadium - Cincinnati

Had a great time at the game! Paul Brown stadium is really nice, however unless you had special parking passes you couldn't park anywhere close to the stadium. We had to walk about 10 blocks and paid $20.00 to park.
