    Therapy Session or Comedy Show?

by OlivesMama on 2/16/17DPAC - Durham

I hate to say it, but the MC and opener were much better than the headliner. I love Chris Rock. Unfortunately, much of his material came across as unfunny ramblings. They seemed more depressing and therapy-like than comedy or entertainment. He also seemed to have a hard time coming full circle to complete his "jokes."

    Awesomness

Chris Rock is a witty and clever comedian who can have you fall out of your seat with laughter while making you think. Loved every minute!

    Welcome Back, Chris!

by ChrisGiannell on 2/16/17DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

Opening acts alone were worth the cost of the ticket! Mario Joyner was fantastic, as was Janell James! The anticipation built and turned into booming applause for Chris. I was in the third or fourth row back...CR is one of my childhood heroes / idols. Expectations were high. He did not disappoint. His material for this special may be his best ever. He tackles the issues of today and reveals some of his own story and issues, making himself vulnerable. The performance has the feel of a long time friend venting (in a wonderfully funny way) about his own troubles, what he has learned with life's lessons, and his take on the topics that dominate our newsrooms. He kept our company for almost two hours. Excellent value. One of the most memorable and best times of my life!

    Good but not great

by MrsJLH1975 on 2/16/17DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

He's not as funny as he used to be. He needs to drop the dark humor (regarding his divorce, police shootings- "white teenage boys should be shot as much as black kids"). His jokes about observational things were funnier. And where were the political jokes? There were a few, but c'mon man- Trump? Surprised he didn't take more advantage of that opportunity. Love ya Chris, but it fell a little flat for me.

    Amazing show! MUST SEE!

    by CoopCoop3 on 2/14/17DPAC - Durham

My wife and I went to see Chris on opening night of his total blackout tour in Durham, NC. It was an amazing show. Very relevant content, fresh perspectives, and a hilarious delivery. The opening acts were pretty fumy until Chris came out. He is just on a different level of funny. Very polished act but that is to be expected when watching a legend at work.

    Last Show was the Best!

by BarbKat on 10/6/10Great Shows! - Baltimore

Chris Rock is funny and smart. He keeps his jokes funny and most can relate to them. It's been a while since he has hosted a show... I'm waiting patiently for him to have a tour again. Perhaps he's busy with family ties right now... I know he'll have a show soon, we miss and love him dearly... Come on and make us laugh during this recession before most cry....
