    Ehhhh

by Rah on 2/19/23Hippodrome at France-Merrick Performing Arts Center - Baltimore

I think the show was kind of cringeworthy. The jokes were very appalling. I am not a prude, I have a sense of humor but this was different.

    New material

by Bobby on 2/19/23Hippodrome at France-Merrick Performing Arts Center - Baltimore

Many of the jokes I have seen and heard on other Netflix programs by Chris Rock. He was good but, he needs new material. Had I known he would be repeating previous work, I wouldn’t purchased a ticket. Also some speakers should be attached to the walls in middle balcony section, you can’t always hear what’s being said clearly.

    Funny, relevant

by TrustMe on 2/19/23Hippodrome at France-Merrick Performing Arts Center - Baltimore

It’s a bit of a challenge to comment on comedy for which everything is fair game but I will say the material was relevant to the times so several current events were addressed by Chris Rock as well as the opener, Rick Ingram. The event was being filmed for Netflix. The venue, Hippodrome Theater, was easy to access and exit. It was great that Ticketmaster and the venue emailed ticket holders to ensure that we were updated on the rules and cell phone expectations. Phones had to be secured in a case that you kept with you. We also passed through metal detectors which is great for everyone’s safety. The last thing you want is to feel unsafe when you’re out for an evening of fun. It was a great show…topics were humorous and quips were made out of some serious and sensitive issues but that is to be expected. So overall it was a great evening of laughs and connectedness. Looking forward to seeing it on Netflix in the future to relive the moments.

    Audio Issues

    by SDub81 on 2/8/23Chrysler Hall - Norfolk

Chris Rock’s performance was great. I give him 5 stars, but I took one star off for the audio issues at Chrysler Hall. This was a premier act and the sound issues were embarrassing and inexcusable. I felt really bad for Chris who stood on stage for what seemed like forever whole Chrysler Hall staff tried to work out the sound system. The crowd became restless and started heckling the comedian who had little to no control over the situation. After a 3-5 minute pause in the performance, CH staff finally “fixed” the mike and Rock continued with his act. However, the “fixed” mic kept cutting out sporadically and Rock (rightfully annoyed) switched it with a backup which worked flawlessly. The audio mishaps definitely marred the event for the audience. Chris Rock handled it like a pro, but it should not have happened in the first place. As I stated earlier, this was a premier show from a top comedian and Chrysler Hall didn’t seem prepared for it.

Chris Rock hasn't gone anywhere! This man will forever be your favorite Comedians favorite Comedian...! Glad to see this King of Comedy resume his throne, despite the lame attempt by one "court jester" to dull his shine...! Hang his Jersey in the gym next to the legends....

    Hilarious!!!

by Jada Rose on 2/8/23Chrysler Hall - Norfolk

Awesome show! Finally got to see one of “The Greats” Chris was raw, funny and honest! The sound engineer needed to be fired because the mic kept glitching, and Chris had to improv for 10 minutes until the speakers for the folks in the back came back on. Luckily I was like 6 rows from the front so I could hear everything! Hope he comes back to VA. Lol!

    Chris Rock is my Hero

by Its Me Kara 757 on 2/8/23Chrysler Hall - Norfolk

I have loved Chris Rock from the first time I saw him on TV. An episode of In Living Color, with his infamous phrase, "Good Lord That's a lot of Money". I knew from that moment I wanted to meet him one day. Though I didn't get to meet him, I feel so Privileged to say I got to see him live on stage! Thank you so much for coming to Norfolk, Va!

Rock Solid, but technical glitches hurt the floq

by Tuna on 2/8/23Chrysler Hall - Norfolk

The exterior venue was impressive as were the public spaces outside of the theatre space. The interior seats need some attention and are both tight and fading. Chris Rock's pre-show video was sentimental and enjoyable. The opening comic was funny. Chris Rock's show was solid; he covered a lot of interesting topics including "the slap," "wokeness" "success" "daughters" "infidelity" and "middle-aged women" with a matured comedian's timing. Very enjoyable. While most of the set was "tame" by current standards, "Rock" certainly didn't shy away from the controversial topic of abortion. The breakdown of the sound system was a 15 minute problem.that was inexcusable. It broke his flow, but not the show's overall success.
