The performance was outstanding. Although it was primarily a Jazz performance the band covered a wide variety of music genre, a little something for everyone. Botti is not only talented, but very personable and very entertaining. I would recommend seeing him anytime. In fact, I am considering going to New York to see him at the Blue Note.

About
CHRIS BOTTI IN CONCERT:
Trumpet virtuoso Chris Botti has made a lasting impression on his audiences ever since his first touring gig with Frank Sinatra in the '80s. The trumpeter's style and grace can't be matched as he fills the room with the sounds of his 1939 Handcraft brass trumpet, spellbinding audiences with the instrument's rich tones. The Grammy Award winner has played with a number of legendary artists including Sting and Andrea Bocelli, captivating audiences with signature hits like "Regroovable" alongside classics like "Ave Maria." Chris Botti never fails to disappoint, and he's sure to take fans on a musical journey they won't soon forget with his string of 2014 tour dates.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Influenced by his mother's musical background, Chris Botti began playing the trumpet at age nine, but it wasn't until he heard the classic Miles Davis track "My Funny Valentine" several years later that he decided to pursue a career in music. During his senior year at Indiana University, Botti toured with Frank Sinatra, which led to a number of gigs with famous artists like Paul Simon, Aretha Franklin and Natalie Cole. Since then, he's released ten studio albums — seven have reached Top 10 spots on the Billboard Jazz chart — and sold three million records. He's also been the host of the radio show Chill With Chris Botti and performed with the Boston Pops Orchestra alongside John Mayer, Josh Groban, and Yo-Yo Ma. Back on the road in 2014, the trumpet virtuoso is set to captivate fans on his highly anticipated world tour.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:
"Chris Botti and his group are the best of the best in the arena of ultra-talented musicians. Of course the handsome man with the horn never lets his audience down. Even though he performs 300 days a year, he gives the audience his all as though it's one show just for them."
"Not only does Chris Botti shine with his talents, he has top notch musicians and a singer to make it an overall outstanding, entertaining evening. ...will definitely try to see the next show!"
"Chris Botti was charming in relating to the audience, and put on a spectacular display of musicianship. He's one of, if not the best, at his craft."

Chris Botti -- Outstanding
by foxhound2 on 12/13/09Scottish Rite Auditorium - CollingswoodRating: 5 out of 5We thoroughly enjoyed the Chris Botti concert. Our seats were upfront and gave an intimate experience of hearing & seeing our favorite performer practically an arms length away. His setlist was superb! We were moved by his audience interaction--delightful and humorous as well as Chris' wish for a Merry Christmas. His band also gave outstanding performances and the surprise guests added to complete the entertainment. The added bonus of getting to meet & greet after the show made for a truly happy ending...the memory will not end...still talking about it! Thank you Mr Botti, band & special guests for this special holiday gift.
Great Show
by oldengray on 12/13/09Scottish Rite Auditorium - CollingswoodRating: 5 out of 5Funny thing, my wife and I left this show already anticipating seeing Chris Botti again. We sat next to a woman that has seen Chris Botto over 100 times! This was my first time in this venue and it is unique to say the least. Built in the 30's the theater has terrific acoustics. The staff was terrific and my only complaint about the venue is that the seats, though comfortable, looked like they had the original 1930 upolstery. As for the show, this is the third time my wife and I have seen CB, 2nd time as the feature act. He puts on a tremendous show. Frankly, I'm amazed that it's still possible to see him in medium to small venues. I am by no means a fan of jazz, but CB and his band are quickly converting me. He mixes his show up with pure jazz and hints of classical and pop. If you get the opportunity to see him do so! We can't wait to see him again. Chris if you read these reviews, please come back to Collingswood again!
Chris Botti and band were incredible
by JazzEsq on 12/13/09Scottish Rite Auditorium - CollingswoodRating: 5 out of 5What an incredible experience! Not only was Chris on his game at the top of his craft, but his band members are amazing musicians whom he freely allowed to show their skill. Chris was engaging with the packed house and showed no sign of tour fatigue (for a guy who's on the road over 250 nights per year). He is a gifted and polished trumpet player who has found a niche that works with the public who loves him.

The entire experience was amazing. Chris, his drummer, guitarist, piano player, violinist and Cy Smith were phenomenal. On eof the best concerts ever attended and look forward to him returning to this venue.
Love Botti's style!
by Winesunset on 12/13/09Scottish Rite Auditorium - CollingswoodRating: 4 out of 5The Scottish Rite Theatre was a great place for Chris to play his amazing music. The band is a lot of fun and their talents are well worth seeing over and over again. Sorry I didn't get to stick around for Chris' autograph....maybe next time. The show was terrific and I look forward to seeing Chris and the band again in the future.

Outstanding showman. Rarely does the personality measure up to his music, but Chris has it all. Presence, personality, extreme, diverse talent and the confidence to share his stage with and encourage other talent. Can't get enough. Hated to see the evening end.
old now
by bushido on 12/13/09Scottish Rite Auditorium - CollingswoodRating: 5 out of 5I'm either old now or younger people do not understand what good music is ....not enough young people in the audienc. WOW! what a great evening in the presence of greatness. Every person that graced the stage was amazing in their individual performances, yet were one with each other. BRAVO
Outstanding!
by cpt3 on 12/13/09Scottish Rite Auditorium - CollingswoodRating: 5 out of 5Artistry at its finest! Exceptional musicians in an intimate atmosphere.
Outstanding show
by jmariewebbb on 12/13/09Scottish Rite Auditorium - CollingswoodRating: 5 out of 5Botti is so comfortable with his audience. The band behind him is awesome and everyone appears to be having fun. His special guests added the extra flavor which is always part of his shows. The combination of the violin and trumpet was truly inspriing. My husband who is not as big a fan as I am thoroughly enjoyed it too.

Concert was wonderful. The violinist and soloist were great! Loved the closing song done in the audience.
Chris Botti is AMAZING--musician AND person!
by CT850 on 12/9/09Genesee Theatre - WaukeganRating: 5 out of 5I was first of all surprised that a talent of Botti's stature was coming to the Genessee (not an affront to the Genessee, but just wouldn't have expected it). It was NOT surprising that his performance was outstanding--that's what he does! But I would also NOT have expected that he'd have any guests at this venue (i.e. like he had at Boston). So, when the beautiful violinist came out (sorry, not good on names!), I was blown away! Then, when the soulful singer (again, sorry about the missing name) came out and did several numbers as well--WOW! But, then Botti had to exceed all expectations with his almost monologue with the audience at the end, followed by jumping off stage, walking down the center aisle and then playing acoustically 'One more for my Baby' in the middle of the audience--double WOW! But, that wasn't the end. After the show was over, he went out to the lobby, comfortably sat on a table by the front window and proceeded to meet and greet anyone who cared to meet him--up close and personal! Where he chatted with each person. I mean, come on...How many artists do that?? Also have to give kudos to Botti's EXCEPTIONAL musicians. They've gotta be the BEST in the business today. In summary...AWESOME Artist (Botti)...AWESOME Group (the band); AWESOME show. A MUST see if he comes back or performs anywhere around Chicago in the future.
Chris Botti is awesome!
by billandjen on 12/8/09Genesee Theatre - WaukeganRating: 5 out of 5Maybe the best concert I've ever been to. He is an awesome talent who connects with both his audience and his supporting musicians. The Waukegan venue (Genesee Theater) is perfect for an event like this. Much more intimate than most. It allows you to feel connected to the performers. He's just a very cool guy who you'd want to hang out with. Caroline Campbell is an incredible and unexpected addition to the performance. Go to this concert!

Let me start by saying that Chris Botti is one of my favorite music artists. I'm always pleased with the guest performers that he brings to the stage w/him. The show overall was very good and the sound quality was excellent as well. However, this show seemed a bit short, and only had one encore. I did enjoy the evening, but slightly disappointed.

Outstanding performance by Chris Botti. The theater was a perfect setting. Appreciated no intermission and the length of the concert was almost two hours!!! Great band as well. Finally, what a nice touch to be able to have him autograph the cd we purchased and be able to get a photo of him on my cell phone as well! An absolute great evening and well worth the money!! Would definitely go again!!
Chris and the gang were awesome, as usual!!
by cantgetenoughmusic on 12/7/09Genesee Theatre - WaukeganRating: 5 out of 5I attend every Chris Botti concert in the Chicago area. He is an incredible musician, as are his bandmates and vocalists. It is always one of the highlights of the season to witness the fun! The Genessee Theater in Waukegan was a wonderful venue - the people there are so cordial and helpful.
Chris Botti and band were I N C R E D I B L E !!!
by RichG9 on 12/7/09Genesee Theatre - WaukeganRating: 5 out of 5From Mark Whitfield on guitar to Billy Kilson on the drums the night was turning out to be a good one. Until the beautiful Lucia Micarelli was introduced on stage and made magic with her violin in an awesome duette with Chris playing Emmanuel. Iwant to thank everyone in the band for making this a wonderful romantic evening for my wife and i. Great show!!!!!!!!!
Botti and the Band Rock the Genesee in Waukegan!
by Chris1957 on 12/7/09Genesee Theatre - WaukeganRating: 4 out of 5While the stage stories are have been told before; the music has never, and I mean never been better. Special Guest performances: Campbell's Violin took my breath away as does the amazing instrument of Cy Smiths Voice. Chris just needs to buckle in and play. His music is the very best in the business today. (regardless of Grammy Awards or even a Guggenheim prestigious though they might be). If this were the first Chris Botti Concert for a new fan...they will be back, to the next concert in the area...and who knows they could show up at the "Blue Note" in NY for the 40 performance stand in Dec./Jan....because you just can't get enough. I would love to hear "Time to say Goodbye" to close the show...if ever there was a song named for the job or a piece of music that soars so high...a great closer. I can't be the only one to think this...
