CHRIS BOTTI IN CONCERT:

Trumpet virtuoso Chris Botti has made a lasting impression on his audiences ever since his first touring gig with Frank Sinatra in the '80s. The trumpeter's style and grace can't be matched as he fills the room with the sounds of his 1939 Handcraft brass trumpet, spellbinding audiences with the instrument's rich tones. The Grammy Award winner has played with a number of legendary artists including Sting and Andrea Bocelli, captivating audiences with signature hits like "Regroovable" alongside classics like "Ave Maria." Chris Botti never fails to disappoint, and he's sure to take fans on a musical journey they won't soon forget with his string of 2014 tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Influenced by his mother's musical background, Chris Botti began playing the trumpet at age nine, but it wasn't until he heard the classic Miles Davis track "My Funny Valentine" several years later that he decided to pursue a career in music. During his senior year at Indiana University, Botti toured with Frank Sinatra, which led to a number of gigs with famous artists like Paul Simon, Aretha Franklin and Natalie Cole. Since then, he's released ten studio albums — seven have reached Top 10 spots on the Billboard Jazz chart — and sold three million records. He's also been the host of the radio show Chill With Chris Botti and performed with the Boston Pops Orchestra alongside John Mayer, Josh Groban, and Yo-Yo Ma. Back on the road in 2014, the trumpet virtuoso is set to captivate fans on his highly anticipated world tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Chris Botti and his group are the best of the best in the arena of ultra-talented musicians. Of course the handsome man with the horn never lets his audience down. Even though he performs 300 days a year, he gives the audience his all as though it's one show just for them."

"Not only does Chris Botti shine with his talents, he has top notch musicians and a singer to make it an overall outstanding, entertaining evening. ...will definitely try to see the next show!"

"Chris Botti was charming in relating to the audience, and put on a spectacular display of musicianship. He's one of, if not the best, at his craft."

Sadly I had never heard of Chris before.....I was amazed and completely memorized! The talent of each and every member was incomparable. And I must say the drummer was like no other I had ever seen!

It was amazing. I took my husband 's cousin to the concert for my husband is in Afghanistan. We are going to plan on taking our husband to the concert in July 10, 2010 It was Amazing!!!!!! I love Chris Botti music. Wished I stayed after the concert for the signing. The line was so long and I need to get back to Los Angeles.

  • Chris & his 1939 Martin Committee Handcraft WOW!

by MariaSF on 2/21/10Flint Center - CupertinoRating: 5 out of 5

This is my 3rd Chris Botti concert. My first was at the SF Symphony last June 2009, then Humphrey's by the Bay in San Diego in October and then last week 2-10-2010 at Flint Center in Cupertino, CA. Each concert is unique because of the venue and each concert has its own "personality." But each one showcases the best trumpet player after of course, Miles Davis. The sound that comes out of that trumpet...the only way I can describe it is that it must reflect what he most surely has deep inside his heart and soul...and that is warmth, intensity, light, and something else I cannot describe...but each and every fan knows what I'm talking about. A sound that comes from deep inside his soul and he translates it into such beautiful music! His music touches my heart in a profound way that words cannot describe! The only thing I can say is that he was blessed with a unique talent and I wish him all the positive energy that a fan can wish on an artist. God bless you Chris. I hope to see him again in June 2010 w/SF Symphony. I really appreciate him signing my CD's and pictures...and for being so gracious to your fans after every concert. Oh.. and his band rocks!!!

  • Amazing Evening

by mizmino on 2/20/10Fred Kavli Theatre-Thousand Oaks Civic Arts - Thousand OaksRating: 5 out of 5

Chris Botti is a fabulous jazz trumpet player. His concert was a wonderful mix of genres, from the opening strains of "Ave Maria" to the last haunting note of "One For My Baby and One More For the Road." His amazing band and guest artists matched him note for note. An incredible way to spend a rainy evening in Southern California.

  • Chris Botti delivers!

by Songster on 2/20/10Fred Kavli Theatre-Thousand Oaks Civic Arts - Thousand OaksRating: 5 out of 5

Chris Botti is not only an amazing trumpet player, but he's a great showman as well! He and his fabulous band and special guests played for 2 solid hours, with some favorites from his recordings and other tunes not as well known. He told great stories, encouraged the young people in the audience to pursue music, and even invited four teenagers to come down from the balcony and sit in empty seats in the first two rows. Billy Childs on piano was a real treat too!

  • To say it AMAZING - is an understatement!!!

by TimeTraveller on 2/20/10Fred Kavli Theatre-Thousand Oaks Civic Arts - Thousand OaksRating: 5 out of 5

Chris kept it entertaining with various guest artists. His introductions to songs made every piece of music he played appreciated by public so much more. He even came out to autograph posters and CDs! Certainly better move than some other artists whose posters are sold autographed. Seeing how personal and warm Chris was to his audience, I will definitely come to his concert again.

This is my first time seeing Chris Botti. Very awesome show! Chris is so charming and has a great sense of humor. Like the fact that he is so passionate about encouraging our youth to be involved in music. His band members are so crazy talented and are all stars in their own right. Sy Smith was a guest singer. Wonderful voice and wow, what a vocal range she has. The other guest musician was Lucia Micarelli a very fantastic and gifted violinist. Enjoyed the show very much, but wished Chris had played some of his earlier songs like, "Street Ahead", "Back Into My Heart", "If I Could", etc. Looking forward to seeing Chris again when he comes back to L.A. :o)

  • Botti is a masterful showman

by AMCandJMC2 on 2/20/10Fred Kavli Theatre-Thousand Oaks Civic Arts - Thousand OaksRating: 5 out of 5

This was the first time I had seen Botti live. It is clear from his recordings that he is a viruoso performer. But live, his tight and amazing band add an incredible dimension. He is generous with the spotlight, featuring a singer and a violin player that I could have listened to all night. All in all, the best concert experience I have had in years.

  • Chris Botti was FIRST CLASS!

by Debotti on 2/20/10Fred Kavli Theatre-Thousand Oaks Civic Arts - Thousand OaksRating: 5 out of 5

The first time I heard and saw Chris Botti, was in 2000 with Sting, at the Santa Barbara Bowl. Since that night, I have been his #1 fan! He has such a distinctive sound with his instrument, talent & heart. I have seen him at least 8 times live and every performance has been amazing! He is the most gracious, consistent, excellent musician I have ever seen and met. He surrounds himself with excellence and allows each and every performer to shine on the stage. Last night’s performance at the Kavali Theatre in Thousand Oaks was no exception. Each and every note he, his band & special guests played was PERFECTION! He is a FIRST CLASS performer and composer. Chris & his music make the world a better place to live!

  • Botti's the Best!

by cherublover on 2/20/10Fred Kavli Theatre-Thousand Oaks Civic Arts - Thousand OaksRating: 5 out of 5

Wow, what a concert! Chris Botti's trumpet was sultry and sexy, while his guests were thoroughly amazing! The virtuoso violinist, who overcame a severe hand injury, sent tears streaming down my face. When the two of them played together, it brought forth images of other, dreamy worlds. And Cy [sp?] Smith hit notes that made my jaw drop and drew gasps from those seated around me. Chris' interaction with the audience brought a close, inviting, and informal note to the evening.

  • Chris Botti LIve - You gotta see this!

by HoopRef on 2/20/10Fred Kavli Theatre-Thousand Oaks Civic Arts - Thousand OaksRating: 5 out of 5

An amazing evening, Chris Botti and his band were just spectacular. Every time I see Chris is a completely unique experience. But each time I see Chris is a memorable event. The talent and artistry of Chris and each band member make for wonderful music and a great time.

  • Chris Botti - Wonderful...but!

by rharriso on 2/20/10Fred Kavli Theatre-Thousand Oaks Civic Arts - Thousand OaksRating: 4 out of 5

My husband and I truly enjoyed the concert. We had great seats, third row, front right facing the stage (which would be the left side for Chris Botti facing the audience). The problem, Chris seemed to play to his right (our left) the entire evening. He walked right, waited right, went into the right side of the audience. As a teacher, I am very conscious of the fact that I teach to both sides of the classroom as it is generally known that people tend to focus to their right. I wished he had come to our side of the stage since we had such wonderful seats. Nonetheless, we enjoyed the music so-o-o-o much!

  • Botti and Band Were Amazing!!!

by srosssocal on 2/20/10Fred Kavli Theatre-Thousand Oaks Civic Arts - Thousand OaksRating: 5 out of 5

An incredible group of musicians showcasing their premier talents during the evening. Many highlights but Lucia Micarelli was outstanding. If you love to watch great musicians perform together this is your show. Botti was charasmatic and his interaction with the audience was fantastic. -sross

A wonderful show...Chris and his band are very good musicians and I would go to see them whenever he is in a show in my area. For anyone who likes jazz!

  • Chris Botti at Thousand Oaks

by TomMar on 2/20/10Fred Kavli Theatre-Thousand Oaks Civic Arts - Thousand OaksRating: 5 out of 5

This was certainly a very special night to remember. I took my girlfriend for her birthday and we were both thrilled for the entire show. Chris Botti and his band of world class musicians make beautiful music together. Chris maintained a humble brand of showmanship throughout the entire evening, graciously sharing the spotlight with all the members of his band. His trumpet playing really spoke to us in a very masterful way - we were touched, moved, and inspired many times over. The sound, synergy and musicianship were par excellence. Chris and his band all looked like they were genuinely having fun, which is one of the things we look for in a live performance. Would definitely see him and his band play again!

  • Chris Botti was wonderful!!!

by Kachu on 2/20/10Fred Kavli Theatre-Thousand Oaks Civic Arts - Thousand OaksRating: 5 out of 5

The theater filled up fast!! Then the show started and he played with real heart!! I liked it when he talked about music in our schools with our younger generations. We must promote it or not many will do it. I liked it when he shared the front seats with the 4 young people. He was very nice too, after his show to continue staying there and signing CD/DVD's and posters. He looked tired, but patient. Thank you Chris!!!

Chris puts on a great show and he is willing to share the stage with other fine musicians. Always a pleasure listening to him play.

  • Amazing Performer and Performance!

There is no question that Chris Botti is an amazing Performer and Artist, but he puts on a great show as well. His band is equally amazing and he allows them to show it off. Chris engages the crowd and has a witty way of drawing you in to the music. I loved him before but have a whole new respect. I will be going to his concert in July when he returns to California!
