About

An influential figure in the 2010s drill scene, rapper Chief Keef pulls inspiration from the Chicago streets, delivering hardcore rhymes. Kicking his career off at the age of 16 with the street single "I Don't Like," he was a hit on Chicago's high school circuit before mixtapes and viral videos led to a contract with Interscope. His official debut, 2012's Finally Rich, was a hit, peaking in the Top 30 of the Billboard 200. Following a pair of 2015 albums, a prolific Keef issued a string of mixtapes - five per year in 2017 and 2018 - including Two Zero One Seven, Thot Breaker, and Mansion Musick. Over the next several years, he focused on a recurring series called The GloFiles, which released its fourth volume in 2020, after which he issued the album 4NEM (2021) and a series of collaborative singles. Born Keith Cozart in Chicago, Keef first hit with 2011's "Bang," a slow-rolling, simple cut that was an instant hit with the youth of his hometown's South Side. The mixtapes The Glory Road and Bang were both released that year by Keef's label, Glory Boyz, but at the end of 2011, the rapper was arrested for unlawful use of a weapon, having pointed a gun at a police officer. In early 2012, Keef was finishing his sentence of house arrest at his grandmother's home as his track "I Don't Like" was topping a million views on video-sharing sites. It caught the attention of Kanye West, who completed a remix of the track with Big Sean, Pusha T, and Jadakiss all added to the mix. The single landed on Finally Rich, Keef's debut album released late in 2012 by Interscope. 50 Cent, Young Jeezy, and Rick Ross made guest appearances, while production came from the likes of Young Chop and Mike Will Made-It. The MC issued four mixtapes, as well as a pair of LPs - Bang 3 and Nobody 2 - at the close of 2015. In 2017, on New Year's Day, he released Two Zero One Seven, followed that summer by his fifth official full-length, Thot Breaker. Later that year, he issued Dedication, which included features from Lil Yachty, A Boogie wit da Hoodie, and Tadoe, along with production from D. Rich, StuntMan, Turbo, CBMix, and K.E. on the Track. In 2018, Keef repeated the prior year's prolific streak with a dizzying slew of mixtape releases, including two installations of The Leek series and the first two parts of The GloFiles. He issued Mansion Musick in July, featuring Playboi Carti on "Uh Uh" and Tadoe on "Sky Say," before closing the year with The Cozart and Back from the Dead 3. The following year, the seventh and eighth volumes of The Leek arrived just before his high-profile collaboration with trap producer Zaytoven, GloToven, which featured just one guest, Lil Pump. With barely a pause in his output, Keef picked his GloFiles series back up, issuing the third volume in late 2019 and the fourth in 2020. "Bang Bang," a collaboration with Mike WiLL Made-It, appeared later that year, followed in 2021 by singles like "The Talk" and "New Bugatti," the latter of which featured Ski Mask the Slump God and DJ Scheme. The album 4NEM appeared at the end of the year. Several singles, including "Tony Montana Flow" (with Akachi) and "Almighty Gnar" (with Lil Gnar), were released in 2022.

by Sean666 on 10/29/15The Electric Factory - Philadelphia

Chief Keef didnt even come to Philadelphia. The concert was scheduled for the 29th. TWO days before chief posted a photo on instagram and titled it " Jus made it to philly" then the next day (28th, night before concert) he posted a video in instagram saying hes going back to California. I checked ticket master and it said TBA for the date. Chief bailed.

    Chief Did his Thang

I liked it. The only thing I did not like was that he had too many people on stage with him. Other then that, I enjoyed myself.

This concert sucked. There were so many opening acts, that by 11:30 we were still waiting for the headliner. In the end, we never saw the headliner because some of the people with the performers got in a fight on stage. The police had to escort everyone out of the building. I paid to see a performer who couldn't even make it on stage to perform for his fans. It was pathetic that the performers caused the fight that ended the concert. You would think they would be a little more concerned about their fans who paid good money to see them. I will not be attending another one of his concerts ever again. Frankly, I think I deserve a refund.

    Entertaining, but not spectacular.

by grantgrizz on 5/29/13river center - davenport

there were at least 5-6 openers before king louie and lil duck, but right when chief keef got to the stage a fight broke out on the stage! one fight turned into two fights and so on... but even though the rest of the concert got cancelled and i didnt even get to hear chief keef, it was still a good time and very suspenseful. (i only really went to see lil durk anyways)

Didn't get on stage until about 1 am--the doors opened at 7:30. There was no opening act, just a DJ playing for 4+ hours. Completely unprofessional on Chief Keef's part.

    absolutely disappointed!!!!

by Anonymous on 3/24/13Newport Music Hall - Columbus

I took my teens to this concert. They were so excited and looking forward to it for quite sometime. Not to mention I paid $157 to see chief keef just for them. This was their first concert and what an absolute disappointment! We got there at 7...got into the door at 8...was told he was to start @ 10. Bottom line we finally left at 12:30 am and still never saw him perform. My kids were so upset and shame on him for not performing until 1am for a whopping 20 mins if that! I think you owe your fans in Columbus another show..... for free!

Never again will I attend a chief keef concert

by Anonymous on 3/24/13Newport Music Hall - Columbus

This was an awful experience for me. I paid $40 to see this artist and he did not even show up. I'm upset that I paid that much money for a man who never even came out and sang. I definitely wouldn't recommend anyone to see Chief Keef because he is unreliable.

by Lilduke02 on 3/24/13Newport Music Hall - Columbus

The worst concert I have ever been to. He didn't show up until 1am. Doors opened at 7am. Djs lied and said he was on his way for 5 hours before everyone started leaving. Will never pay to see him again.

    WORST.CONCERT.EVER.

by ZiggyZaggyZoo on 3/24/13Newport Music Hall - Columbus

Well my friends and I got there around 8 and waited in line for a solid 30 minutes. When we finally got inside it was crowded and there was a bunch of random rappers on stage, who I guess were the openers. They played recent popular hip-hop/rap songs and often repeat them two or three times. As they kept playing these songs, they kept saying " Sosa, is outside the building" or " Chief Keef is in the building", which made most people stayed until it got to a certain point where most people realize he wasn't there. Around 11:45ish, my friends and I were getting extremely irritated, and on stage, Chief Keef's DJ took all his equipment off the stage, so people started throwing their beer cups, cigarettes, and any other thing they could. By that time, not only did my friends and I left, but so did 90% of the crowd. The next day, I found out that he performed around 1 O'Clock and everyone under the age of 18 was kicked out by 12, so even if I stayed I would have gotten kicked out before I even got to see him. In general, I felt extremely disrespected that I wasted four hours of my time and 40 dollars on a person I didn't even get to see or hear. Also, the fact that no one informed us on what was going on and led us on to believe he was coming. I'm gladly to say, I will never see Sosa again.

    Chief keef was horrible!!!

by Brodiemj on 3/24/13Newport Music Hall - Columbus

He showed up about 5 hours late and came out and did like 5 songs then left after we waited and they kept lying to us that he was there or was going to be out soon and then a majority of the crowd left before he even came out. I want my money that was easily the worst concert ive ever been to and will be calling and getting my money back for the tickets.

    He never showed up

by Arron18 on 3/24/13Newport Music Hall - Columbus

Essentially payed to see a few unknown openers, and then listen to a DJ who continually lied about chief keef being 'out back' or 'in the building. Left after waiting 3 hours but others waited longer and still never saw him. Terribly disappointing

This concert sucked! Chief Keef didn't even show up to his own concert. I do have to say though it was nice how the DJ's handled it. Thy just kept playing music to try and keep the fans entertained. But I know one thing is for sure I will never go back to another Chief Keef concert again

by Brittney145 on 3/24/13Newport Music Hall - Columbus

Me and 6 friends got there at 7, it took forever to get everyone inside. Then we stood around waiting for hours and left at 11:30 because he still had not went on stage. It was a waste of time and money. And I want my money back.
