About

An influential figure in the 2010s drill scene, rapper Chief Keef pulls inspiration from the Chicago streets, delivering hardcore rhymes. Kicking his career off at the age of 16 with the street single "I Don't Like," he was a hit on Chicago's high school circuit before mixtapes and viral videos led to a contract with Interscope. His official debut, 2012's Finally Rich, was a hit, peaking in the Top 30 of the Billboard 200. Following a pair of 2015 albums, a prolific Keef issued a string of mixtapes - five per year in 2017 and 2018 - including Two Zero One Seven, Thot Breaker, and Mansion Musick. Over the next several years, he focused on a recurring series called The GloFiles, which released its fourth volume in 2020, after which he issued the album 4NEM (2021) and a series of collaborative singles. Born Keith Cozart in Chicago, Keef first hit with 2011's "Bang," a slow-rolling, simple cut that was an instant hit with the youth of his hometown's South Side. The mixtapes The Glory Road and Bang were both released that year by Keef's label, Glory Boyz, but at the end of 2011, the rapper was arrested for unlawful use of a weapon, having pointed a gun at a police officer. In early 2012, Keef was finishing his sentence of house arrest at his grandmother's home as his track "I Don't Like" was topping a million views on video-sharing sites. It caught the attention of Kanye West, who completed a remix of the track with Big Sean, Pusha T, and Jadakiss all added to the mix. The single landed on Finally Rich, Keef's debut album released late in 2012 by Interscope. 50 Cent, Young Jeezy, and Rick Ross made guest appearances, while production came from the likes of Young Chop and Mike Will Made-It. The MC issued four mixtapes, as well as a pair of LPs - Bang 3 and Nobody 2 - at the close of 2015. In 2017, on New Year's Day, he released Two Zero One Seven, followed that summer by his fifth official full-length, Thot Breaker. Later that year, he issued Dedication, which included features from Lil Yachty, A Boogie wit da Hoodie, and Tadoe, along with production from D. Rich, StuntMan, Turbo, CBMix, and K.E. on the Track. In 2018, Keef repeated the prior year's prolific streak with a dizzying slew of mixtape releases, including two installations of The Leek series and the first two parts of The GloFiles. He issued Mansion Musick in July, featuring Playboi Carti on "Uh Uh" and Tadoe on "Sky Say," before closing the year with The Cozart and Back from the Dead 3. The following year, the seventh and eighth volumes of The Leek arrived just before his high-profile collaboration with trap producer Zaytoven, GloToven, which featured just one guest, Lil Pump. With barely a pause in his output, Keef picked his GloFiles series back up, issuing the third volume in late 2019 and the fourth in 2020. "Bang Bang," a collaboration with Mike WiLL Made-It, appeared later that year, followed in 2021 by singles like "The Talk" and "New Bugatti," the latter of which featured Ski Mask the Slump God and DJ Scheme. The album 4NEM appeared at the end of the year. Several singles, including "Tony Montana Flow" (with Akachi) and "Almighty Gnar" (with Lil Gnar), were released in 2022.

I was super excited to see Chief Keef, the DJ for the event was great, the venue was clean, but he had over 2 hours of opening acts. They kept on getting everyone excited to see him and they kept stalling. When he finally was on stage the crowd was really hype, the energy was great, I just wished he performed longer for the time we waited to see him.

    Keef didn't show up

    by ayyyy21 on 4/16/18Electric Factory - Philadelphia

Venue was great, nice people for the most part. But an hour and a half into openers, they announced that Chief Keef didn't make his flight and wouldn't be there. I was a bit upset about it because I drove an hour to get to the concert, but I was also prepared for this since I read all of the reviews for him. Oh well, next time lol.

    “Missed his flight”

by DoneListeningToHim on 4/16/18Electric Factory - Philadelphia

Chief Keef and Lil Reese did not even come to the venue! At least Lil Reese announced he would not be coming days in advance. Chief Keef just no-showed and left hundreds stranded at the event.

Worth the wait if you like Chief Keef

by vclatham on 3/13/18Riot Room - Kansas City

Chief Keef was supposed to start at 9pm but didn’t start until around 1am. This doesn’t really bother me that much. It’s a rapper. It’s Chief Keef. What else would you expect? Even though he was late I still thoroughly enjoyed it...even though I don’t remember much. The Riot Room was great. I just drank while waiting for Chief. Anyway it was great to me. Wish he would have stayed longer. If you’re a Chief Keef fan then you’d like him live. It was lit. Everyone was enjoying the music and vibes when he was on.

    Unforgettable

by bluedogs1 on 3/13/18Riot Room - Kansas City

Wouldn’t know if he came kept switching the time when he was performed multiple ppl left cause they was pissed. Clubs closes at 3 and it didn’t help that daylight savings happened so ppl left to go enjoy the rest of they night before area closed down only to hear he barely came in and barely performed any songs around 2:30 when at first it was 11:00 then 12:30 and last but not least 1:00 never buy a ticket again.

    Never again.

by Ashleighh on 12/20/17The Pageant - St Louis

The event started at 8, and Chief Keef was scheduled to perform at 10. Somebody dj’d until 11. Chief Keef came on stage at 11 and was done around 11:30. Because general admission is standing room only, my feet hurt by the time he came out, and no I wasn’t wearing heels. I’m not sure if it’s the venue’s fault or the artist’s fault, but making a crowd wait 3 hours to see the main act for 30 minutes is disrespectful.

He was only on for 30 minutes

by 321dst on 12/20/17The Pageant - St Louis

Will never go to another Chief Keef show again. We got there when doors opened at 7 and it said show started at 8. We thought he would be on by 9 at the latest and then he didn’t come on till 11, we stood around for 4 hours listening to a dj that played the same music over and over. Then on top of that once he came on he only played for 30 minutes and left. Really wish I could get my money back.

    Worth The Wait!

by Lituation on 12/20/17The Pageant - St Louis

Con: He arrived late to the venue, but it's ok. We had to wait standing for three hours and everyone's foot was beginning to hurt. Mind you, we kept hearing the same songs over and over until he came. Pro: It was so worth the wait. When he got there everyone forgot that their foot hurts, and he turned it up foreal. That was the best concert that I have ever been to in my entire life. The stage presence, the crowd, the everything. I recommend!
