    Open Tables

this is an extraordinary film.... interesting and engaging story, great actors.....even a 3x4 format B&W fantasy recollection filmed in Paris....engaging, funny, and with a moral we can all agree to follow. (WE ought.....) Music and sound were fantastic throughout. Best film I've seen this year at CIFF !

    Ordinary

Ordinary movie as the name goes. The good side was that you could see Iranian style everywhere.

    For Grace: A Fine Film

by remcawm on 10/21/15AMC Theatres - River East 21 - Chicago

Beautifully filmed. Wonderful depth and a twist you will not see coming. Poignant, unforgettable. Courageous, fearless, against all odds story. Had to give it a standing "o".

If you like soul music or hip hop or cantankerous old men or documentaries generally, then you'll enjoy Syl Johnson: Any Way the Wind Blows. It's a pretty cool story, and Syl is the perfect subject for a documentary. He's talented, driven, hilarious and charming. Go see the movie, it'll make your life 85 minutes richer.

A beautiful film about an amazing woman

by nmbrott on 10/21/15AMC Theatres - River East 21 - Chicago

Saw this film at the Chicago International Film Festival with a friend that used to dine at Ina's before the restaurant closed. I was not fortunate enough to have ever eaten there and now feel like I missed something. I was impressed by Ina's amazing life being a woman restaurateur when women did not do those things. The filmmaker did an excellent job of telling the behind the scenes story of a public personality. I would recommend anyone in the restaurant business to see this film. Or anyone who wants to get to know an amazing woman.

    CASH ONLY

by MESDDS on 10/20/15AMC Theatres - River East 21 - Chicago

Exceptional independent film. Fantastic character development that expanded from the beginning. Then the pace and emotion of the flow quickened and created notable anxiety straight into the ballooning character development of the antagonist. This heavy "dumbbell" weight of the plot then drops hard onto the viewer. Watch your toes! Great movie that was well directed and the lead actor Nikola Shreli leaves you wanting another film.

Great film, very touching and sentimental. You can't go wrong with an Iranian film.

    Not as advertised

by ChiArchs on 10/20/15AMC Theatres - River East 21 - Chicago

We were very disappointed. We had hoped to learn more about his process for developing his designs along with his philosophy. Or even a recap of Helmut's personal and professional life through the years. Plus we were expecting a documentary instead of a live interview. The interviewer seemed geared more toward name-dropping (Bud Goldberg) and unabashed praising of Helmut than actually finding more about his work. A proper documentary would have been able to distill meaningful content instead of waiting for Helmut to fumble through his answers.
