Awesome show. Chevy Chase was hilarious. Movie was great. Shea's is a great venue. Definitely looking forward to going back.
Was a great event even if Chevy fell off the stage. Loved the stories about the movie and his life. Highly recommended.
The movie stands alone, but seeing Chevy Chase and his wife after the movie was wonderful. Insights to the filming, laughter and everyone was in the Christmas spirit. We even got a Chevy Chase fall that was thought to be funny, but was a real fall. Never missed a beat. Thank you
The event "An Evening with Chevy Chase"was an event worth attending. It was cool seeing the film "Christmas Vacation"on the big-screen. The only downside of the movie showing was that the volume in the theater was set too loud, and both my son and I had to cover our ears to reduce the volume. The Q&A with Chevy Chase, his wife, and the moderator was informative. I had not realized that Chevy Chase is now 80 years-old, and I really hope he is okay after his fall off the Shea's stage when he entered. Chevy Chase's reading of the "rant"scene from "Christmas Vacation"was the best part of the evening.
Totally unique and fun event that my wife and I really enjoyed. Chevy was great. Watching to movie was great. (I hope his stage fall was a set up gag). We left excited and ready for our own Christmas season. Would do it again next year.
It was a truly great night. The crowd was into it, and Chevy and Jayni were fun and full of trivia. The venue was beautiful. Christmas vacation is an institution, as is Chevy.
The Chicago theater is beautiful, but experiencing this on the first snowfall wknd of the season during Christmas Time, and to know you’re going to see and meet a legendary ICON is beyond amazing! If you are a true NLCV (C. Chase obsessed) fan then you can understand, this man is 80 YEARS old but is still making the rounds is just phenomenal, did he forget things Yes! Did his wife have to help him remember sometimes Yes! Did he still make us laugh YES!!! Again he is 80. I can’t even remember stuff at 50! He shared he suffered heart failure in 2019 (with some memory loss) not to mention AGAIN he’s 80 geesh! I will agree if you held VIP (meet/photo op afterwards) it was a bit unorganized (theater staff fault not his) BUT for the small amount that held those tix we didn’t wait no more than 45mins total afterwards to get it all worked out, I would wait again just to put my arm around him and get another photo and say hello! I love all Lampoon movies, Foul play, Fletch, Funny Farm, etcccc!! Ooh the most memorable part was remember HE’S (80yrs old) he read from a piece of paper in his famous voice and tone the memorable seen where he calls his boss ALL those names when he didn’t get his bonus check ABSOLUTELY AWESOME experience to hear him repeat that first hand! Well worth my time and money, wish him the best and when that time comes I know I will always have this moment/memory/photo with one of my favorite most FUNNIEST GUYS out there!
What a blast to watch the movie with a couple thousand other fans, hearing everyone say the most iconic lines in the movie in usison. Some people even dressed up as their favorite character....several Eddie's in the crowd. Chevy came on for 30-40 minutes after and was hilarious. There will be things said that are offensive to some people....it's Chevy Chase. He's 80 and forgets a name or word here and there but his wife does a great job putting him back on track. These other reviews that say he had dimensia are totally incorrect. I'm still laughing the day after.
This event was a lot of fun. Watching the movie with other Christmas Vacation obsessed fans was truly a wonderful experience. It was heartwarming to see Chevy Chase on stage with his wife. We do wish there had been a little bit more discussion about the movie specifically but we understand that Chevy's health made it a more difficult ask. Overall, it was a fun conversation. The pricing could have been a little cheaper for the experience however.
Our favorite Christmas movie and what a treat to see and hear from Chevy Chase! Wonderful evening!
We did not know they were playing the film, which was ok although we could not see the top 1/3 of the screen as we were in the boxes (we paid as much as most seats on the floor). When Chevy came out with his wife and the Q&A started within about 5 minutes you could tell he had dementia and could not remember things. His wife was covering and he was acting dumb to cover it. I have parents with dementia and Alzheimer’s and this what they do. We left about 10 minutes into it as it triggered both me and my husband.
His memory has failed. I felt so bad for him. I wanted to hug. His wife is managing everything which is commendable. However, after he is wheeled onstage and forgets why he is there…its upsetting
We saw this at the beautiful/historic Chicago Theater. Perfect sized venue, wonderfully accommodating staff. I was not sure what to expect, there were mixed reviews from previous shows, but for us, this show was heartwarming and a perfect way to kick off the holiday season. It was so fun to watch this movie with others that obviously also love as part of their own family tradition. Every year this movie is watched and we remember the laughter from our relatives (now gone) and how much joy this movie brought. We always laugh year after year. And hearing others in the theater laugh intensified the specialness of this experience. Chevy Chase shared some health issues and his wife indicated that this show and his fans mean so much to him at this point in his life and it shows. It was endearing to hear his love and admiration for his former SNL castmates, his appreciation for his career and his own self-deprecation over his health issues (and he is 80 people!). It was super cool to hear about things about making the movie "the behind the scenes"happenings. We will all have health issues someday if we are lucky enough to live that long. His wife does a great job being his advocate and supporter on stage. I appreciate all the years he made me, and my family laugh and he certainly appreciated his fans at this event and would highly recommend if you love this movie and his comedy. Thank you Chevy and Jayni for an enjoyable evening.
Huge Rip Off! An Evening with Chevy Chase and National Lapoon’s Christmas Vacation is how this was listed on Ticketmaster! Very Deceiving and Very disappointing! What a cheap trick! We paid over $200 each to see the movie and a glimpse of Chevy Chase on stage in a chair for about 20 minutes! There were questions for him but, no idea where the questions came from. No one I talked to had been ask for a question! What a shame. Extremely frustrated!
I bought tickets for this event as my husband's Christmas present since he is a HUGE Christmas Vacation fan. It was so wonderful to see Chevy Chase and watch the movie on the big screen, but the entire event was badly executed. The movie was out of sync for almost the entire duration, most of the staff was agitated or annoyed by something. We had VIP Access for a photo op after the event, but nowhere in the Chicago Theatre was there signage or direction on what to do for this part. After the Q&A was over, we had to find this little table at the end of one of the stairs with no signage and get our wristbands. Then it was a free-for-all all to get in line for the photo op. Would I do it again, yes, the look on my husband's face when we met Chevy was priceless!
My wife loves this show and we thoroughly enjoyed the live experience. What a great way to bring the favorite show to life in person with other fans during the holiday season.
There was a bit of a rocky start for the movie, but once everything was up and running it was a blast. Seeing Chevy after the show was phenomenal. He seemed to be thrilled with the crowd and enjoyed taking all our questions. A great way to kick off the holiday season.
Chevy Chase is a national treasure. Which is why it breaks my heart to write this. Chevy's heart failure in 2021 coupled with his age have made him a shell of the man he once was. It was painful and sad to watch him forget his train of thought through almost every single sentence. His wife whispering names in his ear that he couldn't remember added insult to injury. He has given so much to the comedy world, it's time to let him relax and enjoy his remaining days with his family. This experience felt voyeuristic and exploitative.
Movie glitched halfway through. Sound and video didn't match up after that. Chevy chase seemed incoherent during the q and a. I wish I could get a refund. Never again.
My family and I attended the Christmas Vacation event in Chicago. It was great! Loved watching the movie with a large audience. Q&A with Chevy was fun. He's still got a great sense of humor and shared some funny stories. So glad we went.
