  • Fun event!

by Suzannec on 12/19/24Peoria Civic Center Theater - PeoriaRating: 4 out of 5

I was fortunate to win tickets to this at the Peoria Civic Center. Surprisingly, I had never seen Christmas Vacation. My freebie seats were way in the back but I was still grateful. We purchased some ridiculously expensive popcorn and sat down to enjoy the show. Of course I loved it but would’ve preferred it with the closed caption on. It is amazing how much more you get from a show with closed caption. After the show, Chevy and his wife came out to answer questions. The wife was a big help to Chevy while reminiscing about his career over the years. I loved seeing clips from some of his other movies and was reminded how good he was in Fletch. Now I plan to watch the rest of the Vacation movies at home with my closed caption and cheapo popcorn.

  • Amazing

Chevy was hilarious and the whole experience was amazing.

  • Fun for what it was

by Eddie on 12/18/24Bridge View Center - OttumwaRating: 3 out of 5

The event was decent for what it was. The movie started promptly at 5. The event center was essentially folding chairs on the main floor with a medium sized projection screen. Had a tall guy sitting in front of me which made it difficult to see. The place is not really designed for a "move theatre"experience and I would not consider it an upscale presentation. Only had one concessions counter that was packed full and line was extremely long. Large crowd was still waiting for food / drinks when the movie started. People were constantly going in / out of the isle during the entire movie which was distracting. The conversation with Chevy and his wife was just ok. Nothing against him, but the dude is 81 years old and he is really slowing down. He gave a valiant effort though. His wife and the moderator had to guide his words on multiple occasions. If I'm still at his cognitive ability at 81 though I'd be happy. He tried to make it entertaining. All in all it was a memorable experience and a once in a lifetime chance to see a childhood celebrity in person.

  • Poor film quality & meh

by Jess on 12/18/24Bridge View Center - OttumwaRating: 2 out of 5

First, I was really happy that Chevy, the legend, came to my little town. I have empathy for him at 81 not being able to remember and not being a dynamic speaker, aging is cruel. On top of that, the quality of the movie was terrible. Paying as much as we did to watch NL Christmas Vacation for it to be that grainy is very disappointing.

  • Glad we went, but...

by Kelly on 12/16/24Rating: 3 out of 5

We love Chevy Chase and absolutely love Christmas Vacation! The venue in ottumwa, IA was okay, but the video screen was very lacking. The light blue tint kind of ruined it and was pixely. That's okay though we watch at home in ultra HD several times a year. It was nice to be in the audience with baby who love also love this movie. Then the Q&A was having. Not much talking about the movie. We were on the back so couldn't even tell it was him, but we paid $100 each for her and greets, so we were still excited. I had brought the Christmas Vacation Blu-ray and my wife brought a card to be autographed. When we got to area he was signing they said hi autographs but we could purchase pre autographed items. No way! The Funko Pop figure of him was $149! All of a sudden this just seemed like a cash grab. We walked up and he was sitting in a chair facing the camera. We each got on one side of him and he kept looking straight forward didn't acknowledge us! I was flabbergasted! I finally joked and said I'm sorry we kept you up past your bedtime as we were leaving and he didn't say anything but did shake my hand when I offered it. After searching Google I understand now he has some memory issues. So that could be the root of our disappointments. Knowing that, I feel bad for him. But this was not a VIP meet and greet, and I would buy have paid had I known how it would turn out. We wish him and his wife the best.

  • Venue and the Q&A need some work

by Josh W on 12/12/24Dow Event Center - SaginawRating: 3 out of 5

My wife and I LOVE National Lampoons Christmas Vacation! We were excited to see it on screen with other movies lovers. Seeing Chevy and his wife were such a treat. Unfortunately, the theater hasn't been upgraded in years. It's the same as it was 20 years ago. The doors opened an hour before the actual theater doors but there is no seating while you wait. We sat front row balcony. During the movie the sound got lost. If anyone talked or laughed you couldn't hear the movie at all. It definitely needs an updated sound system. Then during the Q&A, the moderator only asked 4 or 5 audience questions, the rest was his own questions about Chevy's other movies. They were also difficult to hear. Overall, it was a great concept. It was fun watching the movie with people who love the movie like we do, but the venue is woefully in need of an update.

  • Chase experience

by GRK on 12/12/24Dow Event Center - SaginawRating: 5 out of 5

I enjoyed the total venue. I do wish that there would have been a camera placed closer to Chevy in order to see him better. From our seats, the audio was fine, but visually it was difficult to see him. That was the first time I saw Christmas Vacation on the big screen.

  • Screening and Q&A good, meet and greet meh

by Where's the Tylenol? on 12/10/24Rating: 4 out of 5

I went with two of my friends to this event in Saginaw. We drove from the Detroit area as we are all fans of the movie. It was so fun to watch on the big screen with other Christmas Vacation fans. The Q&A afterwards was good too. The star off comes for the meet and greet photo op after the show. We each bought a ticket for few hundred dollars a piece for this. They only allowed one group pic (between all of our ticket purchases combined) OR an individual pic each. For the price we paid I feel we should have at least each gotten an individual pic and one group pic. There was no meeting really just a quick funnel through the line and snap a pic. No pics allowed from you own phone, just photographer where you have to log on to the website the next day to see the pic. Not sure yet whether we will able to access the pic or pay additional for it? Just be aware of what you will be getting or not getting for the meet and greet. Chevy and his wife seem lovely however.

  • Awesome Night😎

by Matthew White on 11/23/24Rating: 5 out of 5

Great Movie and Great Venue. Chevy was amazing and very cool😎. He talked a lot about his movies and his wife talked also. He did a Q&A with the audience and then a VIP M&G and it was worth it. He was very nice to his fans although NO AUTOGRAPHS he did sign my hand and gave me my first tattoo 😂. Awesome guy Thank You So Much Chevy Chase!!!! A lot of people say he can be rude but in my opinion I didn’t find him rude at all. He was very nice to everyone in the audience and all the VIPs from what I saw. His wife also participates in the VIP photo op if you want her to join in for the photo. Definitely come to one of the shows if you love Chevy Chase

  • Had a blast!

by Core on 8/28/24Rating: 5 out of 5

Ill start by saying im NOT a christmas vacation fan. BUT Vegas Vacation and 3 Amigos are my favorite movies. Even though he didnt bring up Vegas Vacation, he did bring up 3 amigos often, saying if he ever did another sequel to any of his previous movies, he would want to do it with 3 amigos. He was hilarious and it was more like stand up post movie. Had a blast

  • Fantastic night!

by Andreas on 2/5/24Rating: 5 out of 5

We went to the NJPAC to see a screening of A Christmas Vacation with a Q&A after the movie. He told us some very funny stories of stuff that happened off screen. And after the Q&A he was taking pictures with the 200 VIP ticket holders. Although he was not doing any autographs I asked him since I was the last person in line to get a picture I asked him if he would sign my arm so I could get it tattooed on me. He agreed happily and asked me for one favor. He asked me that the next day I check into a mental institution! Funny funny man! Truly a comedic genius! It was an experience I will never forget!

  • Disappointing

by Christmas Vacation Fanatic on 12/28/23Mayo Civic Center Auditorium - RochesterRating: 2 out of 5

The venue was wonderful; however, the event itself was disappointing due to Chevy himself. We thought this would be heavily focused on Christmas Vacation during the Q&A session, but instead, the few questions asked about Christmas Vacation were rarely even answered, or answered rudely/vulgarly, or just very inappropriately. Would have liked to see this run more smoothly and respectfully, and stay on topic versus listening to a dirty old man belittle women and others.

  • I'm glad we went...

by Scrappiola on 12/27/23Old National Events Plaza - EvansvilleRating: 3 out of 5

I'm glad we went, but it wasn't our best experience. Granted, we were in the top tier, last row, in the very corner. The sound for the movie was awful where we were - very muddled. But I've seen the movie many times, so it was OK. I loved the Q & A, but again hard to hear. I do wish they had shown the Q & A on the same screen that they showed the movie, but they didn't, so it was hard to feel connected to Chevy since he was so far away.

  • Great event but…

by Sienna on 12/24/23Old National Events Plaza - EvansvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Loved seeing the movie on the big screen again then getting to hear Chevy answer some great questions with his wife. Bad part was the cost of all the promo items he was selling! Geez… cheapest thing was a signed Funko figurine and it was $149! They could have had some shirts, posters, koozies, glasses or some cheaper merch.

  • We enjoyed every minute!

by Krissy on 12/23/23Old National Events Plaza - EvansvilleRating: 5 out of 5

We had a great time! It was neat to watch this classic in the theater and laugh with strangers like it was the first time any of us had seen it! We enjoyed hearing from Chevy and his wife! Chevy still recites the “rant” perfectly!

  • Chevy Chase Christmas movie

by Mrs H on 12/23/23Old National Events Plaza - EvansvilleRating: 3 out of 5

I don’t regret going, plus we had nothing else to do. The movie was good on the big screen. Nice crowd. I thought it was odd that his wife came and answered several questions instead of Chevy. Had I known it would’ve been like that, in retrospect, I would’ve saved my money and gone to bed early since I had to work the next day.

  • 2nd year in a row attending the event

by Shawn on 12/23/23Old National Events Plaza - EvansvilleRating: 5 out of 5

If you love this movie, you will love this event. Chevy Chase is still hilarious and it’s great to hear about the making of the film as well as a bunch of other random facts from his career and life

  • Great experience

by Gravespawn on 12/23/23Old National Events Plaza - EvansvilleRating: 5 out of 5

I and my group had a tremendous time. It was such an epic time being able to see Christmas Vacation and Chevy together. I would definitely recommend everyone to go experience this event. The experience was the perfect way to help celebrate the Christmas holiday.
