Good show, disappointing venue
by justinSLC on 9/24/22The Depot - Salt Lake CityI have been going to The Depot since it opened, but this was my first show in a few years, due to Covid. It's disappointing to see what they have done to it. They built out some new seating around the upstairs balcony, which would have otherwise been a good thing. More seating upstairs. But they roped it all off as "suites" that require payment to access. Most of the upstairs at this show was restricted. You couldn't get anywhere on the sides, or down toward the front of the balcony section. If you're just someone who bought a ticket, you're limited to an area about 15 feet in front of the bar, where there are no seats, and you're mixed in with the crowd waiting to order drinks. This was also the only area in the venue where alcohol was permitted. It's a crowded mess. On the main floor, the story is similar. Lots of areas were restricted or reserved. There were no tables around the perimeter of the standing area. People were literally sitting on the floor eating their food while plenty of empty tables were behind ropes in the "suites" It was insulting. If this is how shows will be operated in the future, this venue will be a low priority for anything other than a booking that I absolutely must see.
