About

The Chemical Brothers on Tour

Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons have reigned supreme in the dance music world for more than two decades, and their live shows just keep getting better as time goes on. Pairing eye-popping visuals and special guests such as dancers and robots with their massive dance hits, a Chemical Brothers show proves they're one of dance music's premier acts, with expertly mixed sets that keep the crowds moving and visuals that keep all the senses entertained. The duo has played major festivals around the world, and those large-scale venues seem to be pushing their live-show ambitions ever larger.

The Chemical Brothers in Concert

Childhood classmates Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons began their journey into music in 1992, when the pair DJed as the Dust Brothers in clubs around Manchester, England. Their first self-released single, "Song to the Siren," was embraced by British techno guru Andrew Weatherall, who signed them to his Junior Boy's Own label and re-released "Siren." The pair worked their way through the UK music scene, touring the world and playing club nights frequented by Oasis' Noel Gallagher and the Charlatans' Tim Burgess. A legal squabble led to them changing their name to The Chemical Brothers in 1995, which was also the year they released their debut Exit Planet Dust. That album, which blended big beat and house with other strains of popular UK club music, was a critical smash (U2's The Edge even name-checked it as his favorite album of the year). 1997's Dig Your Own Hole was the band's worldwide breakthrough, with the pulsing "Block Rockin' Beats" and the buzzing "Setting Sun," which featured Gallagher's drawl, dominating MTV and radio. Surrender, which contained the psychedelia-tinged Bobby Gillespie collaboration "Out of Control" and the Gallagher-fronted fantasia "Let Forever Be," followed in 1999. In the years since, the Brothers have released albums beloved by dance-music aficionados like 2010's high-concept Further and 2019's idea-stuffed No Geography, redrawing the boundaries of modern electronic music and upping their artistic quotient with each passing year.

    Great Visuals!

by Green eyed fox on 5/20/19Bill Graham Civic Auditorium - San Francisco

Such a fun show. Sound and visuals were amazing. We had no issues getting into the venue, buying merch, or drinks. I enjoy the GA experience for shows where you want to dance. I know this can be a challenge for those that want to sit and watch if others are dancing in front of them. I always go up to the top as I’m on the shorter side and can’t see much in a large crowd. Also a huge plus to not have to leave the city to see a show! Another fun time at Bill Graham.

    Dope music, visuals + interactivity

by E. C. on 5/20/19Bill Graham Civic Auditorium - San Francisco

Went there expecting something cool, it was above expectations. The visuals are great, the music is well brought and never bores; The Chemical Brothers know when to change styles and please the audience. Also: lots of things to see! I won't spoil the surprise(s) but you want to SEE what they have in store for you: you won't regret it. 10/10 would recommend.

    Amazing show

by CathyC on 5/20/19Bill Graham Civic Auditorium - San Francisco

My husband and I flew 1500 miles from Austin to see this show by one of our favorite bands. We saw them 20 years ago and fell in love with them and EDM in general. The venue was classic and somehow modern at the same time. My husband is blind so we got seats with great views of the stage. Priceless.

Hands down the best electronic live show you'll EVER witness

by Mak on 5/20/19Bill Graham Civic Auditorium - San Francisco

I never leave reviews - that'll tell you how important this band is to me. I've easily seen 150+ live shows in my life. The chemical brothers fall into my top 5 favorite live show performances ever. You will not be disappointed. They work HARD up there mixing music live AND put so much love into production. Each song has visuals that tell an incredible (sometimes weird or hilarious) story. If you like electronic music, you'll have the time of your life. These guys are legends. Don't miss them. They're worth every penny. I'd pay double what I did to see them do that exact show again. Most electronic artists are lazy these days. The chemical brothers pour their blood, sweat and tears into every single tour. GO.

    Great visuals

by D. W. on 5/20/19Bill Graham Civic Auditorium - San Francisco

The show had some amazing visuals that paired perfectly with the beats. I thought they played a good mix of old and new. I wish they played the album version of some of the songs they did rather than a different version. My biggest issue would be the sound was way too loud. My ears hurt for 5 days after the show.

Great venue. The opening acts could have used some visuals. Huge venue, with awesome laser system. Chem Bros were behind amazing. Throwing it back and surprising us with huge 3D robots. Wow

    Best visuals ever witnessed!

by Peovich on 8/3/15The Armory - San Francisco

Chemical Brothers without one of the brothers was actually very good! Adam Smith filled in for Ed onstage and the show was bullseye. Visuals were stunning 11/10! Sound was 9/10. The Armory needs to make ventilation better though. It was way too hot in there.

I liked the overall performance from the duo, the lights and the sound, the place was too hot air conditioning or wind fans.
