About Charlotte Motor Speedway Events
Concord, North Carolina, is home to one of the most iconic tracks in stock car racing. The 1.5-mile quad-oval asphalt track at Charlotte Motor Speedway is located 12 miles northeast of Charlotte, and it has been hosting race events since opening in 1960. CMS is home to three annual NASCAR Cup events: the NASCAR All-Star Race and the Coca-Cola 600 in the spring, and the Bank of America Roval 400. In addition, CMS holds two NASCAR XFINITY Series races, the Alsco 300 and the Drive for the Cure 250, as well as the North Carolina Education Lottery 200 in the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series. The speedway has a current seating capacity of 85,000, and in addition to the main course, the grounds feature a drag strip, a road course (the "Roval"), and a quarter-mile dirt track. From 1999 to 2009, CMS was also known as Lowe's Motor Speedway.
Charlotte Motor Speedway History
In the late 1950s, NASCAR driver Curtis Turner and racing promoter Bruton Smith teamed up to build Charlotte Motor Speedway after both made attempts to build a modern racecourse just outside of Charlotte, North Carolina. Joe Lee Johnson won the first race at the track, the World 600 on June 19, 1960. The first National 400 took place that fall and still takes place on the road course as the Bank of America Roval 400. In 1976 at Charlotte, Janet Guthrie became the first female competitor in a NASCAR Cup superspeedway race, finishing 15th in the World 500. In 1985, the inaugural The Winston took place, eventually evolving into the modern NASCAR All-Star Race.
Forty condominiums were built at CMS in 1984, making it the first sports facility in the United States to include this feature. A dozen additional condos were built in 1991, and lights were installed on the track the following year, making Charlotte Motor Speedway the first major course to allow for night races. The 2019 NASCAR Cup season was especially notable for CMS, with Kyle Larson taking the NASCAR All-Star Race, Martin Truex Jr. winning the Coca-Cola 600, and Chase Elliott claiming victory in the Bank of America Roval 400.
For the people that could not make it, Ticketmaster needs to keep the ticket event up on the web site for people to print a hard copy to use the rain out policy the phone ticket goes away and the website copy is gone as well. so you can use the ticket # for next years race.
The main event was rained out Sunday. I was not able to return for Mondays make up race. So lets see how smooth this process goes with the reschedule of the next years event with the tickets that i have now! I will send the outcome later!!
Ordered my ticket online. It was waiting at Will Call for me when I arrived. No waiting in long lines to purchase a ticket! Just showed my photo ID, answered a couple questions, and I received my ticket and was on my way! So simple! So Easy! The ONLY way to go!
I went with my teenage son who is new to drag racing. I appreciated the time between races moved along quickly. And most of the time you could clearly hear the announcer who kept each race interesting. All of the staff and racers were very very friendly. The drift cars were a nice touch. Something different to break up the day.
My family and I enjoyed the overall experience of this event. From walking the pits the the drifting exhibition. We had a good time.
It was my son and I first time going to the NHRA. I highly recommend that everyone should experience the raw power those cars produce. Absolutely amazing!!!
We really enjoyed our day. Arrived at 8am and stayed till 7pm. Loved the show. We love Mr. John Force and his team.
Always enjoy the show, I don't mind paying for beer at your prices, I hate carrieing a cooler. But please have more beer choices. Corona is good. How about wine? Like that too. Bud light is everywhere. Makes me sick.More

This was an outstanding experience, as it is every year. The fastest sport on the planet! Fast cars, friendly people, getting to walk in the pits and talk to the teams and drivers. This is one event that we won't miss!
Had great weather Friday and Saturday. I only fly down to visit my son and his wife to enjoy some qualifying and get my Nitro fix each fall. Had a great time again!!! Has to be the nicest track I have been to and the easiest to get out of when you had enough excitement for the day. I have been to tracks where it takes hours just to get back to the turnpike. They have all the traffic constantly flowing and on the turnpike in minutes. Plenty of cold beverages and food to choose from as well. The PA system is spot on and you can hear Alan from almost anywhere so you miss nothing!!! Keep up the good work Z-Max!!
Our family had the best time . This was our second race and a first for my parents. They all loved it . Only thing that needs some improvement is keeping fans updated when it rains. Sunday rained all day and nothing was updated or cancelled until the evening.
Had a fantastic time and would recommend it to anyone that loves racing or a first timer that wants to see what its all about. Top Fuel is impossible to put into words. You have to feel it to believe it. I got to do a ride along with the drifters, WOW. With that said the only thing I would love to see them add is, raffle off or sell a “ put crew position” at the start line. Let’s say $50 to stand on the track at the starting line when one of these monsters takes off. I know many would gladly sign a waiver. If you do it, I want to be first, lol. Great time. Thanks for a wonderful weekend.
Had a great time and there was a shuttle to the race, which was awesome. To make a great race greater.... Chase Elliot won in style. Go Chase
The view was great, the racing is so very different than normal oval racing. But you can see the whole track, unlike at the 2 road courses.
Great weather, great race ,great seats. My wife and I had a blast!! Thats our 4th race at Charlotte and everytime it has been the best,thanks

Everybody was very professional ,the racing was great, this is our second year and we will be back for more. Plan to inquire about season tickets and camping.
Went to my first NASCAR event. Wonder why with ssooooo many empty seats they could not have put in adult sized seats. Also, have gone to 24hrs LeMans, Daytona 24 hours, Nurburgring, Angel Park, Columbus 151 Speedway, Manzanita, all seemed to have been more fun. Didnt have a bad time at Roval, but it was like a high speed parade lap that went on and on. We actually left with 25 laps remaining because of the heat and horror stories about the exit traffic. I'd like to try it again, but would do it much differently.
