Charlotte Hornets History
The original Charlotte Hornets franchise joined the NBA in 1988 and, thanks to players such as Larry Johnson, Alonzo Mourning and Kendall Gill (and later, Glen Rice, Anthony Mason and Jamal Mashburn), enjoyed substantial success in the 1990s, starting with the 1992–93 season. Owner George Shinn moved the franchise to New Orleans in 2002.
But the NBA returned to Charlotte for the 2004–05 season with the expansion Bobcats, led by owner Robert L. Johnson, the first African-American majority owner of a team in one of the four major sports. In 2010, Michael Jordan took over majority ownership of the franchise, and in 2014, Jordan's team re-adopted the Charlotte Hornets name after the previous New Orleans Hornets became the Pelicans.
During the 2017–18 season, four-time All-Star Kemba Walker became Charlotte's all-time leading scorer, surpassing original Hornet Dell Curry.

It was a great experience and the atmosphere was amazing!
According to the flyer, Hornets Basketballs were to be given to the first 1,000 kids. When we arrived at 640pm, all of the basketballs were gone and the sad part was most of the balls were given to ADULTS (observed by several members of my family). We saw a lot of disappointed kids; my grandchildren were in tears.
I didn't know exactly what to expect. I thought they would have more to choose from as far as food. Also, I thought they would have some entertainment
The line entertainment was great, the giveaways were great, the mics needed improvement were couldn’t hear every word. The games inside exciting.
I LOVED THE DRAFT PARTY WISH WE GOT SCOOT THOUGH … LOOKING FORWARD TO BRANDON MILLER THOUGH TEAMING WITH MELO
The hornets did really good against the warriors I can’t believe they won and I love this organization.
This organization is awesome such a good game and the players deserve it all they were really amazing worth my money!
Very good sports environment with good fan interaction & entertainment provided.
This was our first time. My kinds had a night to remember for ever!
Always enjoy the game and entertainment and easy to get into the stadium
I understand that everyone must make a profit to stay in business, but come on man $25 for a mixed drink is over priced.
Had an awesome time with my husband being this was our 1st ever NBA game
Brought my sons to see the Hornets verses the Mavericks. They had a phenomenal experience at the arena. It was exciting from entry until exit
Beautiful arena, great food options, great seating, friendly employees and fans.
This was my first NBA game to attend in-person. It was very fun and reasonably priced! I would recommend attending a Hornet's game while in Charlotte if possible!
Feel great! Can buy drink and food at any where, the view very clear at any seat
Wonderful experience. Enjoyed the game with family very entertaining. Had no problem with processing of tickets.
Rip off. Prices for seats are too high yet half the seats were vacant. You would think that is a clue. Nobody is going to pay a lot of money to watch a team with a losing record.
It was something to do with my brother. It was his first NBA game and we both enjoyed the entire game. We're definitely planning on going back whenever possible.
Loved all the entertainment. Now the team needs to get better :-)
