Charlotte Hornets History
The original Charlotte Hornets franchise joined the NBA in 1988 and, thanks to players such as Larry Johnson, Alonzo Mourning and Kendall Gill (and later, Glen Rice, Anthony Mason and Jamal Mashburn), enjoyed substantial success in the 1990s, starting with the 1992–93 season. Owner George Shinn moved the franchise to New Orleans in 2002.
But the NBA returned to Charlotte for the 2004–05 season with the expansion Bobcats, led by owner Robert L. Johnson, the first African-American majority owner of a team in one of the four major sports. In 2010, Michael Jordan took over majority ownership of the franchise, and in 2014, Jordan's team re-adopted the Charlotte Hornets name after the previous New Orleans Hornets became the Pelicans.
During the 2017–18 season, four-time All-Star Kemba Walker became Charlotte's all-time leading scorer, surpassing original Hornet Dell Curry.

Love going to Hornets games. This one was exciting & down to the wire. Very lively time. Lots of good entertainment & good basketball.
I bought regular season tickets in the 117 section in the pre-season. Had a great time! Big price difference!! I should have taken one of the season ticket options.
Our first NBA and Hornets game. Spectrum Center was outstanding. Friendly staff. Plenty of food and drink options. Our seats were great. The game was close, but the Hornets lost.
Great seats and a wonderful view, the Charlotte fans experience is amazing.
Life long break of mine to attend a game, flew in from Sydney Australia, hornets organization was 1st class, amazing night, highly recommended
Had an awesome time! Great vibes in the arena! Loved the energy, the game was close and so glad the Hornets won!
I really enjoyed opening night for the Hornets. Great enthusiastic crowd —lots of fun happenings. Best of all it was a good win for the home team. I look forward to going back soon to cheer them on!
Marcus Manley got in touch with us right after we ordered tickets and was very informative and helpful. The entire staff done amazing and the experience was great.
I hope the Hornets have a great season. I like the team colors -purple and teal. Spectrum Center/ Arena is clean, well lit, friendly staff and plenty of restrooms.
I really enjoyed myself but at the end of the game I yelled a lot and was sitting on the edge of the seat.
The entire process was great . Booking the tickets. The atmosphere at the arena.

Good Job Hornets on a Successful Fan Day! Looking forward to a Great Season!!
Had a wonderful time. Great place to visit. Atmosphere was amazing
We had a great time! We enjoyed sitting almost courtside and the children enjoyed the activities! We thought we would see a scrimmage but it was still interesting seeing them do other things!
Last year we weren’t able to make it in, but this year we went early and enjoyed the entertainment! It was a great time and my son enjoyed himself - that’s all that matters. Thanks for a good time!
The event was fun, but we were disappointed that the time time was reduced unexpectedly. The original announcement described a team scrimmage but that did not occur - apparently the reduced duration eliminated the team scrimmage. We drove a little over an hour to attend.
Even thought the tickets were free the ride it was not worth the drive from Burlington to Charlotte. My 3 grandchildren were disappointed. It would have been nice if the team members had interacted with the audience.
This event was so much fun! I love how they're were balloons & caricature drawings for the kiddos! The staff were all friendly & the DJ in the front entrance was amazing! I only wish more food spots were open instead of just the BBQ place & snack stands. All in all, we had a really good time watching the players have fun on the court. I'm sure they enjoyed that break & some fun banter back & forth with each other.
