Charlie Sheen was a train wreck
by SquirrelMaster on 4/11/11Radio City Music Hall - New YorkRating: 1 out of 5The show was terrible and the venue was poorly run. The drink lines before the show were outrageous and the bartenders were in no rush despite the fact that there was a line all the way down the hall. I spent 35 minutes in line for drinks and, as a result, missed the first 15 minutes of the show, which was only an hour long. Some of Charlie's stories were interesting and he is not a bad storyteller, but he was easily bothered by hecklers in the crowd and frequently simply stopped talking midesentence and sat silently on stage because someone was yelling at him. Every time he did this it infuriated the crowd and caused other people to start booing and yelling at him. The guy interviewing him was horrendous, and most of the crowd's anger was actually directed at him more than Charlie. He asked cheezy, stupid questions and kept trying to force in all of Charlie's tag lines (Ex: "So, who here tonight is winning?" or "Does anyone here tonight have Tiger Blood?"). It was consistently cringe-inducing. After only 45 minutes they became annoyed with the crowd and put a video up on the screen, at which point Charlie left the stage. Everyone assumed he was coming back out since the show was supposed to be 90 minutes long. The video ran for 15 minutes, and then the show ended after only an hour. People were really, really angry. Overall, I absolutely didn't get my moneys worth, but was actually far more irritated by how poorly the venue was run than I was by the show. I frequently attend events at Radio City and have never seen it this bad. Not only were the drink lines outrageous, but they shut the bars down after less than an hour and stopped serving before the show ended. The employees of the venue were also as rude and obnoxious towards the patrons as the crowd was towards Charlie. Also, I paid over $90 to sit in the second to last row, and was only in my seat for about 35 minutes. Overall, it was a terrible experience.
