About

Charlie Murphy's rapid evolution from "Eddie Murphy's brother/bodyguard" and "Chappelle's Show" cast member to top-billed international comedian, playing to sold-out audiences around the globe, has been remarkable. He has spent the past seven years performing his critically acclaimed stand-up and solidifying his position in Hollywood as a true acting talent in his own right.

In 2004, he embarked on the national "I'm Rich Bitch" comedy tour, featuring fellow "Chappelle's Show" cast members Bill Burr and Donnell Rawlings. "Charlie Murphy and Friends" and a co-headlining tour with Mike Epps followed. More recently, Murphy co-headlined on the 20-city "Maxim/Bud Light Real Men of Comedy Tour" with Joe Rogan and John Heffron.

Charlie has worked with top Hollywood talent such as Denzel Washington, Halle Berry, Eddie Murphy, Danny Aiello, Terrance Howard, Gabrielle Union, Queen Latifah, Vanessa Williams, Rip Torn, Peter Falk, Redd Fox, Angela Bassett, Wesley Snipes, Jamie Foxx, Samuel Jackson and Sammy Davis, Jr.

Current film projects include: Family Wedding with Forest Whitaker, America Ferrara and Carlos Mencia, The Cookout 2 with Faizon Love and Lottery Ticket with Bow Wow.

Other feature films have included: A Perfect Holiday, Kings Ransom, Roll Bounce, Chris Rock's classic hip-hop parody CB4, Spike Lee's Jungle Fever and Mo' Betta Blues, Eddie Murphy's Harlem Nights and Vampire in Brooklyn, on which Charlie was also credited as a writer.
Murphy's most recent film writing endeavor, Norbit opened at #1 at the box office in 2007. Additional writing credits include a remake of The Incredible Shrinking Man and Paper Soldiers for Jay-Z's Rockafella Films and Tales of the Dogg, an animated pilot for Snoop Dogg and MTV. Other recent projects include BET's controversial We Gotta Do Better, and films such as Bar Starz, Unearthed, Night at the Museum, Twisted Fortune and The Hustle.

His live stand-up special and DVD, Charlie Murphy: I Will Not Apologize is currently airing on Comedy Central and was released in stores by Image Entertainment in February 2010.

    Always a good time!

by Darknessssss on 11/12/12Hu Ke Lau - Chicopee

This is my thrid time seeing Charlie Murphy, second at the Hu Ke Lau. The Hu Ke Lau is always a good time, good food, drinks & service. Be aware though, they automatically add gratuity into your bill. Doesnt bother me, but I could hear some people around me upset by the fact. I forget the opening acts name for Charlie, but its been the same gentleman each time and some of his material is getting old - been there / done that! But Charlie was a good time. The show started late, so didnt go as long as it should have, but it was a good time!

    Charlie Murphy = Hilarious

by Bluerooster007 on 11/12/12Hu Ke Lau - Chicopee

Charlie was fantastic. I was a huge fan of Charilie's from the days of the Chappelle Show and as a stand up comedian, Charlie was very entertaining. His material was not obnoxious r excessively "raw" (no pun intended) and he came across as a very humble individual. I would highly recommend seeing Charlie live if you have the opportunity to do so. Just "don't bring your kids". Now if we could only get Chappelle to come here. Great job Charlie!

Charlie Murphy is definitely NOT like Eddie Murphy

by Anonymous on 11/12/12Wilbur Theatre - Boston

The matrial was not up to date. A side from 2 or 3 jokes the rest of was not funny. Almost left in the middle of it, but stayed for the Hubby who also didn't look like he was having fun.

    Darkness Is Spreading!

by MrGoldenSun on 6/11/12House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic City

Yea so it was cool to see Kid Capri spinning at the pre-concert, that other love guy was real funny, Fazon Love was a treat to see - I swear that dude could host his own tour. And Charlie Murphy, while some of his material seem dated from the past 6 months or so, it was still good material. The seats were great, and the vibe was pretty good. Pretty short concert, would have liked to see Fazon and the other guy be out there for a bit longer. I would recommend this to a friend. I was surprised that this concert wasn't sold out - especially for the prices that the seats went for.

Great show! Charlie was hilarious, Faison Love was good, wish DJ Kid Capri would have done a set, or had music in between, etc.

    Save your money

by IceTrai on 5/14/12Richmond Funny Bone - Richmond

Plain and simple...this guy is just not funny. I, like many others, had high expectations for this guy. But even if my initial expectations were lower, I would have still been very disappointed. He had a couple of decent punchlines but the delivery was really poor. Stories kind of go on and on as well. Please save your money. Search Charlie Murphy reviews on the internet. american didn't realise that he was out of america

by Arata on 4/23/12Princess Theatre - Melbourne

Princess Theatre, Melbourne. 20/04/2012. Charlie and his warm up (A warm up? Really?) didn't realise that they were performing outside of america and all of their jokes were about race and american cities. In Melbourne. Well done. They also aimed the jokes at drug addicts, who were not in force in the audience. Imagine that. I could tell where the jokes were supposed to be, but they just weren't funny. A very short and unfunny night.

    Charlie Murphy is Awesome!!!

by leeda on 11/8/11Hard Rock Live - Biloxi

I laughed from the beginning of the show until the end. He tells current up to date jokes that really make you think and relate toward. I would recommend his show for any adult who is looking to have a good time. He involves the audience by listening to your requests and asking questions. Not intimidating or in a mocking tone, like some comedians do pick on the audience members.

    Charlie Murphy

    by mlena74 on 12/5/10State Theatre - Kalamazoo

I saw Charlie for the first time at the State theatre in Kalamazoo Michigan., He was funny! I realize that it would probably be our last time to see him for the price that we saw him. One kept thinking about his brother Edie and where had Charlie been all this time. I would recommend him to anyone interested in hearing good comedy! It was a great night!

    Charlie Murphy was original

    by Soundman2580 on 12/5/10Improv - Louisville

Saw him front row at the improv in Louisville KY Friday night. His skit about facebook is hilarious and so true. Yes it was short but we are still laughing about the jokes. I did wear a Rick James wig and he kept mentioning it in his act and the whole place was roaring laughing.
