About

Charlie Murphy's rapid evolution from "Eddie Murphy's brother/bodyguard" and "Chappelle's Show" cast member to top-billed international comedian, playing to sold-out audiences around the globe, has been remarkable. He has spent the past seven years performing his critically acclaimed stand-up and solidifying his position in Hollywood as a true acting talent in his own right.

In 2004, he embarked on the national "I'm Rich Bitch" comedy tour, featuring fellow "Chappelle's Show" cast members Bill Burr and Donnell Rawlings. "Charlie Murphy and Friends" and a co-headlining tour with Mike Epps followed. More recently, Murphy co-headlined on the 20-city "Maxim/Bud Light Real Men of Comedy Tour" with Joe Rogan and John Heffron.

Charlie has worked with top Hollywood talent such as Denzel Washington, Halle Berry, Eddie Murphy, Danny Aiello, Terrance Howard, Gabrielle Union, Queen Latifah, Vanessa Williams, Rip Torn, Peter Falk, Redd Fox, Angela Bassett, Wesley Snipes, Jamie Foxx, Samuel Jackson and Sammy Davis, Jr.

Current film projects include: Family Wedding with Forest Whitaker, America Ferrara and Carlos Mencia, The Cookout 2 with Faizon Love and Lottery Ticket with Bow Wow.

Other feature films have included: A Perfect Holiday, Kings Ransom, Roll Bounce, Chris Rock's classic hip-hop parody CB4, Spike Lee's Jungle Fever and Mo' Betta Blues, Eddie Murphy's Harlem Nights and Vampire in Brooklyn, on which Charlie was also credited as a writer.
Murphy's most recent film writing endeavor, Norbit opened at #1 at the box office in 2007. Additional writing credits include a remake of The Incredible Shrinking Man and Paper Soldiers for Jay-Z's Rockafella Films and Tales of the Dogg, an animated pilot for Snoop Dogg and MTV. Other recent projects include BET's controversial We Gotta Do Better, and films such as Bar Starz, Unearthed, Night at the Museum, Twisted Fortune and The Hustle.

His live stand-up special and DVD, Charlie Murphy: I Will Not Apologize is currently airing on Comedy Central and was released in stores by Image Entertainment in February 2010.

    Not funny.

I did not enjoy the show. I kept waiting for him to say something funny but it never happened. I was glad when the show was over. My BF did enjoy it however, so maybe it's just me.

    Really FUN and UNDERRATED show!

by Dubss on 6/3/14Cobb's Comedy Club - San Francisco

I'm typically a tough critic but this was a great comedy show. The venue was extremely intimate. The opener and opening clip was amatuer but the MAIN opening act right before Mr. Murphy was HILARIOUS! I loved it Charlie Murphy killed it as well. Dude had me ROLLING! And it takes a lot for me to laugh like that. For the price, I'd DEFINITELY recommend it .

    Charlie Murphy in the D!

    by Drcrtiq86 on 6/13/13Comedy Zone - Southfield - Southfield

The show was really awesome. The emcee was brutal, I think the venue supplies them though. He must have been know it was border line get put your sack of tomatoes. Once free luv came on though the mood transitioned. He was very funny, had quite a few racial jokes which is always a good go-to but he made it work. I think that's what humbles us to be able to laugh at each of our traits, we all have our own stereotypes as a race. Charlie Murphy did really good. Ill be honest I was a little nervous about how funny he would be. Most comedians that have transitioned to movies, tend to loose to ability to improv and timing and delivery after being directed so much. Not charlie his show theme was based on current events and made you take an outside perspective on things and sit back and see how comical it all is. Thank you Charlie for not only making me and my friends laugh, but also giving me different outlook on life events. Good show go see it!

by DetroitAngel on 6/10/13Comedy Zone - Southfield - Southfield

Awesome show, perfect seats, general admission meant first come first serve, the earlier you got there the better the seats. I had front row seats. Definately worth the 25 bucks. I loved the charlie murphy show.

Charlie Murphy and Freez Luv were awesome!!! I would definitely pay to see them again. The service at the Comdey Zone however was terrible. I'm glad I didn't have to pay for my food when I ordered it since I never got it.

    Very Good!

by BabyG2012 on 11/12/12Hu Ke Lau - Chicopee

The show was very good. Charlie Murphy was very funny. His opening act was too. I would recommend getting there early to get the seats you paid for on Ticketmaster. If you were assigned stage facing seats when you bought your tickets, you might get there and the people sharing your table might be in those seats. Dinner was ok, overpriced in my opinion... but the vibe and atmosphere were good. All in all, a good night out.

Charlie Murphy delivers at the Hu Ke Lau

by ivechi on 11/12/12Hu Ke Lau - Chicopee

Charlie Murphy was in good form for his Acid Trip tour, was charismatic, looked good and spoke about drugs (acid) the economy It ain't happening, he says, since we've got "money for jokes", his kids, his wife who passed, the times and whether it's really happening, single-parenting (how different it's raising a girl which led to talk about gay people--the other half--therefore not too, too cooll), Conrad Murray, Sandusky. He was current, funny and a pleasure to share time with. Low point is him talking about "Hawaiian shit" (music) when we're in a heavy-Hawaiian establishment -- that was not cool. His opening act was a brother from L.A. who did a good bit on looking like all nationalities (cape verde, puerto rican, middle-eastern, black, etc) and he carried off the accents pretty well. Good show; very reasonably price - he should make better bread in my view - but hey I was happy he saved me a trip to NYC. Also excellent was there were plenty people of color which I appreciated.

It was a good show. Freeze Love opened and he was very funny. This was my first Charlie Murphy show and he did not disappoint. His jokes were current and material was new. I have been to other shows of other comerdians where the material was some what recycled. The only downer was that the people behind me kept talking.
