About

Charlie Murphy's rapid evolution from "Eddie Murphy's brother/bodyguard" and "Chappelle's Show" cast member to top-billed international comedian, playing to sold-out audiences around the globe, has been remarkable. He has spent the past seven years performing his critically acclaimed stand-up and solidifying his position in Hollywood as a true acting talent in his own right.

In 2004, he embarked on the national "I'm Rich Bitch" comedy tour, featuring fellow "Chappelle's Show" cast members Bill Burr and Donnell Rawlings. "Charlie Murphy and Friends" and a co-headlining tour with Mike Epps followed. More recently, Murphy co-headlined on the 20-city "Maxim/Bud Light Real Men of Comedy Tour" with Joe Rogan and John Heffron.

Charlie has worked with top Hollywood talent such as Denzel Washington, Halle Berry, Eddie Murphy, Danny Aiello, Terrance Howard, Gabrielle Union, Queen Latifah, Vanessa Williams, Rip Torn, Peter Falk, Redd Fox, Angela Bassett, Wesley Snipes, Jamie Foxx, Samuel Jackson and Sammy Davis, Jr.

Current film projects include: Family Wedding with Forest Whitaker, America Ferrara and Carlos Mencia, The Cookout 2 with Faizon Love and Lottery Ticket with Bow Wow.

Other feature films have included: A Perfect Holiday, Kings Ransom, Roll Bounce, Chris Rock's classic hip-hop parody CB4, Spike Lee's Jungle Fever and Mo' Betta Blues, Eddie Murphy's Harlem Nights and Vampire in Brooklyn, on which Charlie was also credited as a writer.
Murphy's most recent film writing endeavor, Norbit opened at #1 at the box office in 2007. Additional writing credits include a remake of The Incredible Shrinking Man and Paper Soldiers for Jay-Z's Rockafella Films and Tales of the Dogg, an animated pilot for Snoop Dogg and MTV. Other recent projects include BET's controversial We Gotta Do Better, and films such as Bar Starz, Unearthed, Night at the Museum, Twisted Fortune and The Hustle.

His live stand-up special and DVD, Charlie Murphy: I Will Not Apologize is currently airing on Comedy Central and was released in stores by Image Entertainment in February 2010.

    Don't believe the hype!

Charlie Murphy performed for all of 50 minutes. Not only was his show too short, it was not funny. His opening act was funnier. I left the show feeling disappointed and ripped off.

I enjoyed the show very much the comedians were funny. I haven't laughed that hard in years. My fiancé and I talked about the show all night. We even purchased his DVD and went straight home and watched that :-). I would reccomend seeing Charlie Murphy to anyone and he needs to come back to Boston much sooner than later.

Charlie Murphy? more like Charlie Brown

by PGeezee on 3/7/10Aladdin Theater - Portland

After a side-slapping, gut-wrenching, laughter-filled warm up with the very funny, appetizing "Freeze Love", we were left with an understanding that comedy DOES NOT run in the family. He may have had his moments riding the Chappelle coat-tails but what he had left in the tank for Portland was just that ----moments! He couldn't set any of his jokes up properly and when he saw that he was losing the crowd he would yell his trademarked "Charlie Murphy" to get a rise. I've had more fun watching paint fade. Not dry, mind you but fade. Thanks for nothing Charlie and if you feel as bad as I do about your performance please donate my $80 to your warm-up act. HE was funny!

Charlie Murphy leaves something to be desired

    by PDX18 on 3/6/10Aladdin Theater - Portland

I wouldn't spend $40 on this again. I suppose it was kinda cool to actually see Charlie Murphy in person but his act is so-so. I was expect him to tell some great stories hangin' with old Hollywood celebreties but there was none of that, it really was just a bunch of average jokes. I thought it could have been better, the 4 others I was with were disappointed as well.

    Charlie is the man

by geromeshanklin on 3/6/10Aladdin Theater - Portland

Great opener for Charlie. Freeze Love is a great opening act for the Murphy brother. When Charlie came on the stage he forgot what city he was in (called us Seattle instead of Portland) but he didn't back down from his mistake. He apologized right away and made it funny. This set the mood for the whole night. Charlie has insightful observations about the world and isn't afraid to push the lines of comedy.

    Charlei Murphy was disappointing

by RyDGuy on 11/22/09Turning Stone Resort & Casino Showroom - Verona

This show was very disappointing. The opening act was far better than Charlie Murphy. I was looking forward to the show after seeing him on tv many times but I think he is dried up. The show was unbelievably short... supposed comedian but no one was laughing... you kept waiting for the punch line that never came.

    Charlie Murphy at the casino

by cnycomedy1 on 11/15/09Turning Stone Resort & Casino Showroom - Verona

The show was great as expected and the opening act was hilarious. Only thing that could have been different was the length of the show.Charlie could have went at least a half hour longer. Other than that the show did not dissapoint.
