  • Second Visit - Even More Fun

    by Susan D on 11/9/21Rating: 5 out of 5

We saw the Champions of magic once before in Chicago, caught them again on their 2021 tour and loved the show even more the second time around. The new routines were great, particularly the tricks where they are all performing together. Don't miss it.

  • Disappointed

by Floyd Fan on 11/7/21Akron Civic Theatre - AkronRating: 2 out of 5

The venue was fine but the magicians acts were just okay. They came on stage late, did one round of illusions then took an intermission longer that the first acts. The card illusions were poor and the video that was to be on the large screen didn’t work for the act. The sound and media quality at the venue were also poor. The mind reading act was cool but beyond that I cannot say I would recommend this show to friends or family. This was not even close to Vegas or Broadway quality and sadly not a memorable event in any way.

  • It was okay

A few good magic tricks...the card girl was not that great. Like the guy who did the Houdini tricks

  • Mediocre Review

by Unexcited Patron on 11/7/21Akron Civic Theatre - AkronRating: 3 out of 5

The show was supposed to start at 7:30pm. We were held in the lobby without reason until 7:20. Given COVID, the lobby was shoulder to shoulder and somewhat concerning. The show finally started around 7:50. The first half was NOT great. We considered leaving at intermission. The young lady who does card tricks was unviewable. They had a large screen and someone filming, but the camera was on her, instead of the card trick taking place on the table in front of her. The second half was significantly better and actually enjoyable. There was more technical difficulties with lighting/sound/something playing on the screen that led up to another act and an additional intermission was given. The show didn't let out until 10pm due to this. I don't think we would revisit this show.

  • Room for improvement

    by J. W. on 11/7/21Akron Civic Theatre - AkronRating: 4 out of 5

The show itself was amazing! We did not like having to wait 45 min. in the lobby to take our seats. On the plus side, we were able to upgrade and get seats closer to the stage. The show had tech issues: we were unable to see the card magician's trick because the close-up video feed did not work, and the show was delayed for 5 min. later in the show for another tech issue. The Civic Theater is gorgeous; so glad it was preserved and restored!

  • Boring

by B. on 2/24/20The Fox Theater at Foxwoods Resort Casino - MashantucketRating: 1 out of 5

Was a bit boring . Some acts were uncomfortable to watch due to the delivery . Some magic was easy to point out how it was done . Didn’t care for it

  • Fun time

by Fran on 2/4/20The Santander Performing Arts Center - ReadingRating: 5 out of 5

My husband and I had front row seats and Kayla chose him to help her up on stage. Kayla and him tore up 2 different color paper hearts and she put them back together magically with a piece of her color heart. The whole show was very entertaining and comical. We thoroughly enjoyed it

  • Strongly recommended !

I just saw Champions of Magic, in Saskatoon, and wanted to take a moment to provide a review...what a fabulous show ! All of the performers are very good...truly captivating to watch individually, but the way in which they interact with one another, is also quite wonderful. All of them demonstrate skill and talent in their particular genre of magic...whether mentalism, escapes, sleight of hand, or grand illusion. Each of them are also funny and charming, as they talk and engage with the audience, while in the midst of their perfomance. Being a life-long fan of magic and magicians, I've seen a fair number of shows, both large and small, from Doug Henning and David Copperfield, to smaller "local" performances. One particular show I saw a few years ago, "The Illusionists"....was a huge disappointment....lots of talk used as "filler", with very little magic thrown in. Rest assured, "Champions of Magic" is sooooo much better, in every respect. Even when it comes to one of the performers, lovely young lady named "Kayla", so capably demonstrating close-up magic. The use of a live cameraman on stage, and a large viewscreen suspended above the stage, allows for a good view, even from a seated position in the audience. The comedic interplay of the duo "Young and Strange" adds a whole other layer of entertainment, which really caught me by surprise....magic doesn't have to be all serious ! Their on-stage production of a "tiger" is hilarious ! The feats of mentalism, were truly astounding...leaves one feeling bewildered, at times a little freaked out, in a very good way ! The "death defying escapes" were absolutely breathtaking, and the grand illusions towards the end of the show were stunning. All topped off with an homage to magic legends, Siegfried and Roy....accompanied by requiste pop music of the era. An absolutely wonderful show, which I would strongly recommend. After the show, all of the performers were put in the lobby area, to meet fans, young and not-so-young, who wanted to say hello, or have a picture taken with them. My kids, who are 22 and 24 years old, have never had much of an interest in magic, and yet they came to see the show with me, and they loved it as much as I did ! If you get the opprtunity to see this show, I strongly recommend that you do so....you'llbe glad that you did !

  • OK Magic show

by Big J on 1/13/20The Oncenter Crouse Hinds Theater - SyracuseRating: 3 out of 5

I've seen a few big magic shows including David Copperfield and this one was second rated compared to them . They were very funny and i liked how they got the audience involve. Most of the illusions were the same old ones you could see on AGT. The mind reading portion was greatest part of the show. Don't get me wrong we enjoyed the show they just need to come up with some new Illusions.

  • Champions of Magic

by Philso on 1/13/20The Oncenter Crouse Hinds Theater - SyracuseRating: 5 out of 5

Great Show. All five illusionists were very good. The variety with having five of them is a great idea and pairing. Lots of audience participation was entertaining as well.

  • Great Show for All Ages!

  • Great Show!

by Hamppon on 12/31/19Harris Theater - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Loved the humor of all the magicians. Extremely well done by everyone. Only complaint is that it was difficult to hear the magicians’ voices at times. Excellent and fun music throughout. Mind- blowing illusions!

  • Simply Splendid.

    by M. I. on 12/31/19Harris Theater - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

One of the best shows we have ever seen. The acts were timed perfectly and all the “magicians” got adequate time to show case their skills. Will definitely go again.
